Re: Perfect Shift/Brake Lever Alignment and Symmetry
It helps if you buy bars that have the measuring lines on them.

The markings and the grip tape are not always perfectly the same on both sides of the bars, particularly on cheap chiner bars, I found. So using those as a reference might be misleading. Also, I had a fairly pricy FSA bar in the past and the marking for the stem in the middle was off by around one centimetre (!). It felt off when riding and when I measured it my suspicion was confirmed. So that’s why I now confirm it with a tape measure and a spirit level. I just need that peace of mind.

Re: Perfect Shift/Brake Lever Alignment and Symmetry
Abbey Bike Tools Lever Setter and an AliExpress rear derailleur hanger alignment tool if you don't want to spend the money for the BiciSupport BS184

Top Tip! Thanks. You could do it even cheaper with a simple adapter instead of the Abbey bike tools thingy. After all that’s what it is. An adapter from an M5 thread to M10. So you could hack yourself a dedicated tool for around 30 quid instead of 100+

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
Install of GRT groupset went pretty smoothly but I’m having a hell of a time bleeding the brakes. The rear went okay, but the front I simply cannot get to develop any pressure. And I can’t figure out why! Fluid moves through in both directions when I push or pull it with a syringe. The only thing I can see is that the syringe adapter piece (that screws into the caliper port) leaks a bit during bleeding. But that was the same when I bled the rear. I’m using the ZTTO bleed kit.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I’ve found that any remaining trapped air that just won’t move upon bleeding the brakes will eventually move upon riding the bike and repeatedly braking. I had a gravel build with some very stubborn calipers that I could not get the rear brake properly bled on whatever I tried. One ride across bumpy terrain and all the air was rattled free and it moved up to the lever so I only had to quickly rebleed it and done.

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
This solved the problem! Turned the bike upside down and all different directions and then went out for a maiden voyage—front stiffened right up within ten minutes. Thank you!

Glad I could help. Have fun!
I’ve found this to be more effective than tapping away on the bike with a screwdriver or rubber mallet. Riding will introduce vibration everywhere and the air will move up, especially under braking pressure.  A quick bleed of the lever then is usually enough to get a perfect bite point.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 Like I said, I only bought the rims and built the wheels myself because I already had the hubs lying around. If you start from zero, I’d actually recommend buying a whole wheelset instead of individual parts because the pricing for a complete set is actually the better deal.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 I've done 4000k now on this bike - well, about 1.5k on the new frame, the rest on the old one. I'm really really happy with it.
I've done an ultra event last weekend - 420km / 3600m of climbing in about 14h - part of it through the night. The bike felt really really comfy. It certainly isn't slow uphill and it just rolls so well on the flat and downhill. I've put an 28c Vittoria Corsa on the back, which measures pretty much exactly 30mm. The front is a 25c which measures 28mm. Very comfy setup and still super fast.

At least on the rim brake frame, 30mm in the back is the limit IMO. You could put a 32mm in there, but it gets pretty tight at the rim brake mounts on each side of the seat stays. Clearance at the chain stays is still fine.

Re: SROAD lightweight cassettes Update on my creaking 12sp cassette - more than 1000km later, the creaking still hasn't returned since I put thread lock on the interface between the spider and the cogs. So fingers crossed that I fixed the issue. Still, it seems that this interface, where the cogs are riveted to the spider can be a weak spot.

As for shifting and wear - it's been good. Not in any way inferior to cassettes from Shimano/Sram/Campag that I've been using in the past. The rainbow finish still looks like new.

Re: SROAD lightweight cassettes
Well.... i have two rear derailleurs from the 8000 Ultegra line. One mechanic, one di2. So the newest 11 speed derailleur.
My 11-34 and 11-32 Sroad cassettes are working perfectly on both of them. Since 2500 and 3000km.
I would strongly doubt that the interpretation from trace velo is correct.

That’s good to know, indeed. Thx for sharing.
For what it’s worth: I’ve been using both the 11 and the 12sp version of these cassettes with three different Campagnolo drivetrains. They’ve been working flawless with each one of them.
The 12sp cassette however I did have to put a small spacer behind. My rear wheel uses j bend spokes in a Novatec hub. So these protrude a tiny bit further towards the DS from the hub shell. That was enough to make the cassette spider touch the spokes when I put it on the freehub without a spacer. I think on a hub with straight pull spokes, I’d have no such issue.

Re: Yishun R086-D Aero Road The stack is not that extremely low if you take into account that the proprietary top headset cover will probably add around 2cm of stack height. And you’ll have to use it unless you source something lower. The reach however is definitely longer than most.

You could still make it work for most of you were to use a shorter stem. But the head angle is quite steep on this frame. Using a shorter than usual stem on top of that might make it steer really nervously.

The design is not
My cup of tea. That funky looking downtube and the seat stay/ seat tube cluster aren’t my thing. I’m curious however what it looks like as a full build.

Re: Thin socket for pedal overhauls? I have the exact same problem with a pair of Zrace MTB pedals. I Even ordered the 8mm pedal socket from Hope bc I thought it might fit. While it is indeed thinner than a standard 8mm socket it’s still too big. I tried to reduce the wall thickness further with a dremel but eventually I gave up.
I have another pair of Xpedo MTB pedals. Those are using a 9mm nut and you can easily insert a socket to undo it. Much better design.
