Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
Just wheels to figure out 50 to 60mm with internet 21+ and under 700 dollars and under 1600g would be good suggestions welcome.... must have shiny finish preferably no decals as going no logos with the design.

We're here to help!
If you want to be at the forefront of aerodynamics, technology, life, the universe and everything, i suggest the 34mm rims in 58 from Peter cycles (look up his contact on the forum, it's like petercycles@something). I bought 5 such wheelsets from him last year. It then means that conti gp5000 in 32C is just under 32mm, so aero wise, your rim is like 105pc of the tyre, and you can impress the ladies with your bro knowledge of aerodynamics. They will cost you <600usd. Alternatively, not quite as wide, look up yuanan on the forum, they're the OEM for Elite wheels and you can customise anything you want. Ask Leon for his rim collection in pdf, he has a 31mm wide 54mm deep ultralight rim that will also be within budget. My sales rep from far sports is on maternity leave. I suggest pillar wing 20 spokes, cheaper than Spain CX ray, and according to people smarter than me, and assuming I understood correctly, they're just as good if not better. If you ask for no holes in the rim bed, you can skip rim tape and save some weight and make your life easier.
Have fun

Re: Winspace T1550 new frame?
At $1780 USD for the disc version, not sure if it represents good value.

I had a look at second hand bikes in France - by extension i assume it's just way better in the UK, where ebay UK is like the mothership when it comes to 2nd hand bikes -. You can now find a boat load of branded disc frames with di2 at really good prices. Supersix, Trek, Look, Scott being the most obvious.
I've become a snob because i'm like "oh, i wouldn't touch these 40cm bars", or "that's not an integrated cockpit" and other BS, but the reality is, about a year ago 2nd hand disc bikes were expensive AF, and now they're not. You can probably get a legit bike with meh wheels for 1500 eur, for sure for less than 2k, which you can then upgrade with deep, wide wheels.
Also, you can get a Look frame for that money, and, well, Look is Look. The screenshot is from their website which means you can knock off another several hundreds if you dig a bit. And then 2nd hand.
The bike industry is going down the toilet, there are deals to be had now.

My point: Winspace is horrendous value. Jacking up prices to pay kick backs to influencers doesn't make your bikes better than a Look, or a Scott, or a Trek, or a Supersix, or a TCR.

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
That's a nice deal, best ER9-deal I can find right now on AliExpress is 644 USD. 105 DI2 is 1030 USD including crankset, cassette, chain and rotors.

Yeah, some people here have voodoo skills when it comes to finding deals on groupsets. Don't spend 650$ on the eR9, i can't really tell you how, but people are spending less than that. I paid 455 for mine last year.

I got them during the 11.11 sales, but I have a set of Farsports Hypers with 24int/30ext, 58 depth, with carbon spokes for $700. Weight is 1300g. Just mounted up some GP5000 S 28/30 that measure 29.5/31.3 inflated. I'm super happy with them.

Shipping included? Where do you live?

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame

A bad exampe could be Winspace with it's Agile frame, it is already too close to western brands and I can purchase 2nd hand SL7 (non S-works) frames cheaper in JPN.
Like the Agile frame direct from Winspace ends up to be 300.000JPY, while a used SL7 frame is ~250.000JPY. With that pricing it is rather pointless to opt for direct China frames.

I'm not a specialized fanboy, but you would be crazy to spend more to get a winspace than an sl7. Just for further resale value alone.
China learns. China started manufacturing, poorly then well, started by copying, then started inventing and more and more is now innovating. Winspace is an example of China starting to brand. Branding doesn't make a product better per se, but it does make it more expensive. Which is why this forum is largely about buying OEM frames from factories or brokers like velobuild who are basically a distribution channel for OEM frames.
Farsports is another example of China starting to brand. Their handlebars winning the Olympics was a key moment for them. They make great wheels but their pricing has gotten less and less appealing as they grow as a brand.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets I've installed my 5th er9 on a pinarello grevil clone I'm testing. Did a 4h gravel ride today, very varied terrain including technical stuff where you lose traction, have to choose your line, silly steep bits, all imaginable surfaces, blablabla. I put a 50/34 11/36 (all Chinese) with a 2 euro cage extender. I was shifting constantly and used all the gears. Didn't miss a shift. 34/36 really lets you climb up a tree, the limiting factor is my absence of skill and tendency to lift the front end. I ended up folded in two on top of the bars to keep traction.
Really pleased with the stuff.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 I'm testing this, you guys might be interested in that one if VB stops selling the 218. The clamping system is normal. The geometry is virtually the same as the Grevil, so it's a gravel bike, but very roady. I havent ridden it much, but it's been great fun.

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress?
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNKEQNk

This is the only lightweight 11 speed 10-36t cassette I’ve seen available on AliEx. They used to have a lightweight all-steel (Spedao/ SRoad style) Ztto 10 speed 11-36t and that’s now gone.

Sunshine makes it, hard cogs in steel, large cogs in aluminium, i have 2. They're all around 225g and they cost 40-50usd. the alu cogs last. i have tried almost all sizes :)

Re: WheelTop EDS TX Full Wireless Groupset (Chinese SRAM)
I must be lucky/special.

Has anyone written the 2 sellers and asked why they can't/wont sell to customers in the USA?  Since one of them sold one to me, perhaps they can be convinced to ship to the USA.

Based on youtube videos i've seen, L-TWOO has removed features that were patent pending. The auto trim is one that comes to mind. But Wheeltop seems to be much more reckless about that (I think with Sram related features especially, I think?). I'm not interested in that group so havent been paying close attention, but that's the impression i got. And the US is the land of lawsuits. And US cyclists keep complaining that road cycling is dying there, vs Asia is on the rise, and Europe is its birth place. And Sram is affordable in the US, while it's not in Europe.
So that's my 5 cents.
What i dont understand is why these channels are touting wheeltop electronic as the di2 killer when it's worse than l-twoo's erx in more ways than 1 (worse app, no garmin integration just to name two), and the er9/erx just works great, and having installed 5 and used 2, it feels premium alright (the rubber on the hoods for example, is great).

Re: Yishun R1088-D Aero Road
Oh, alright thanks! Another question - is it good to grease the bearing in the picture above also from the bottom/inner side?

I went down that rabbit hole yesterday. Having looked at a lot of videos, pretty much ALL modern builds I saw put bike grease on headset bearing seats (I think mostly for waterproofing?). Given how annoying it is to disassemble headsets these days, and how quickly you can get creaks if you ride in the rain (even once), i would say, cake that b1tch.
It's more contentious for PF BBs, but it seems that Wakos brake protector is the ultimate product to use, as per "ride of Japan" on YT, and apparently Cannondale in mechanics workshops (I think Australia), and cannondale basically invented creaking BBs with the PF BB30. And for us in Europe, Liqui Moly 3312 (made in Germany, cheap) seems to be a legit alternative. I haven't seen anyone saying it doesnt work. Both products apparently are a silicone based grease.
But people do fight over whether loctite is good or not (& if so, which, and which cure time, and how...), and if you believe Shimano you shouldn't use anything at all, and then there are those who put regular bike grease, or lithium grease, or copper grease.
Long story short: put grease on your headset bearings, and wakos / liqui moly 3312 on your PF BB.  Liqui molly costs 10 eur: if it reduces the chances of a creak, it is money worth spending.
I bought that Moly thing yesterday, i plan to try it. I did an extended 600+W effort a few days ago and i (think i) heard a noise for the 1st time on my LT268, which sent me down that rabbit hole in the 1st place.
