Re: How addictive is bike building?! Will vary based on where you are, but currently, in Europe, second hand prices have collapsed. You can get - just as one example - a TON of Trek Emondas for really attractive prices.
In Europe, afaik, groupsets are still incredibly expensive, but chinese ones are really questionable (i'm sitting with 2 broken er9 out of the 5 i've installed for eg, and out of the 4 sensah mech i installed last year, 1 died after 1k km). In the US, SRAM groupsets are apparently super affordable.
My point being: if you're trying to be rational with the value that your money buys, keep in mind where the second hand market is, because it's now extremely easy to build a chinese bike (with arguably appalling resale value) for more than a branded second hand bike w largely the same specs.

Re: Ltwoo ERX warranty claim If components melt in the sun then it's not usable. My friend had his er9 RD die at the start of a ride, for no reason. Mine died on Saturday during a descent with bad asphalt resulting in lots of vibrations. These are normal use cases. In fact vibration testing is supposed to be part of endurance tests for stuff, and pretty sure 5min of vibrations aren't supposed to break a derailleur.
I'm now battling to get feedback from ltwoo via the guy who sold me the groups, and he's turning to be a clown so far. Extremely pissed off I am.

Re: Elitewheels Edge wheelset Assuming you're going to actually ride the bike, get the lighter / nicer wheels. 300g is indeed a lot. The bike will for sure feel better with the nicer wheel, not just because of the weight, but the nicer rims will probably be stiffer too, and the spokes will be better, will just be a materially better wheelset. It's not a huge difference and it's worth paying for the upgrade. Ceramic bearings for cycling are useless though.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D)
Hello Community
Here is my finished build of the LCR017-D

Please consider using different logos, it's pretty cringe (and illegal in lots of jurisdictions) to ride fakes. My bike looks like a Factor and i made Tractor decals, it's my way of trolling Factor. But putting Factor logos would just be cringe.
Light carbon makes good frames, there's no shame in riding one, but it doesn't make it a cannondale.
Nice build though, let us know how it rides & holds up over time!

Re: ProX Super Light Carbon Spoke Wheels C67DB Undulating Rim if all the specs tick the right boxes, then they should ride nicely. bad components will make for a bad wheel, and vice versa.
I doubt they're the worst at laying carbon fiber in a rim mold.
QC MIGHT be a problem but just ask 5 times for them to pay attention and hope for the best, I guess.
Please report here how they ride.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
Have you tried contacting LTwoo directly?

https://www.ltwoo.com/foot/Contact_us/Contact_us

The support / ticket page i saw said to go via your reseller first, so i did. if i understand him correctly (his English is conveniently dubious at critical times), ltwoo is sending him 2 replacements and then he'll have to ship them to me. I'm not sure i understood correctly, it's happening in real time and he's bad at answering emails and gets upset when i chase him. There hasn't been any feedback on what the problem may be / is. If they are sending replacements i guess they're just broken? I would have wished there would be a software / reset solution to it, because it means 2 RDs just randomly died under normal use.
I have extremely mixed feelings about RD randomly dying for no reason, imagine a cycling holiday, a bike tour, or a long day out, how F'ed you are if that happens...

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
Yeah, just saw those. Was actually looking for a colorful option but that silky look is really growing on me :D

So many choices ...

My 5 cents: careful with colours. You can get super durable decals cut for cheap locally, and you can change your mind every week. You can't change your mind with a colour. A colour also directly affect resale value. I chatted with a guy on Insta with a 168, white, who said his only regret was getting the frame painted white.
I got mine in glass black and am trolling Factor with Tractor decals. If i grow up one morning, i can remove them, it's fully reversible. My previous bike i painted orange because i loved the Giant propel from 2000 something in matte orange. Let's say my paint job didn't come out neaaaaarly as nice... I wish i had kept it black.

Re: First gravel build project If you like the look of that bad boy, email petercycles@foxmail.com. You can also find him on the forum.
The geometry is very nice coming from a road background. I also have a VBGF002 but the geometry is just "meh" in comparison.

Out of 5 ltwoo er9 i installed, 2 died for no reason, and i m battling to get replacements, very frustrating. Out of 4 sensah 2x11 mechanical i installed last year, 1 RD died for no reason after 1000km. My point: if you re in europe where groupsets are stupidly expensive, consider 2nd hand shimano, because as much as i'd like chinese groupsets to work, my experience is that they simply are NOT reliable. When they work they work, but sometimes, they dont, and it's annoying AF.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) Having used one can clear coat, it's really not that great, so 2 part clear coat is likely a must. It will kill you though, so absolutely look into PPE and do it outside.
And it really is a pain to paint frames, so... Be very careful with over spray, clear coat is meant to not come off.
I painted one from primer stage, the result from a distance is fine, from up close it's adequate, but I wish I had just ordered black and played with decals. To be fair the whole painting operation cost me less than 30 EUR.

Re: LTWOO eGR
Saw it there, remember you being very positive about the er9 when I ordered mine. The fact that they die without a reason is terrible. What reseller did you use?
Find the official store on ali bad in communicating. 80 designer store was a bit more expensive but atleast some kind of service there

Yeah i went from loving it to WTF is this?
I bought the groups via Winow, and i dont think Terry is a good professional. He seems like a nice guy, but he's at times elusive, slow, evasive, vague, it's extremely irritating. He clearly cares about himself, but he doesn't seem to care about our problems.
I since had a look at groupset prices in Europe and they're still insanely expensive, it infuriates me. I understand that SRAM prices are very attractive in the US, but that's not the case in Europe.
I kind of want half of the cycling industry to go bankrupt to clean everything up. A 10k bike was never worth 10k, let alone 15k. Groupsets shouldn't start at 1000 eur.
