Re: Cheap Chinese Gravel frames under USD 500 Aluminium then. you can find cheap ass frames on Alibaba, you can order one as sample.
In carbon, to be significantly cheaper than velobuild is asking for trouble. We know velobuild is safe, but they are running a tight ship. they dont really do discounts, they dont really do marketing, they are a lean operator, they clearly compete on price.
If you buy the cheapest carbon frame you find on aliexpress, there's so much that can go wrong, the risk of time & energy you may have to waste trying to get shit to work...
China will absolutely sell you trash if you ask for it.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets And the disaster continues. 3rd dead er9 RD. again, randomly and for no reason. Was riding with my friend, who really hasn't used his new bike much, less than ten rides for sure. Dry, 20 Celsius, smooth asphalt, largely flat. 35km into the ride, his RD dies like the other 2. So there's my er9 on which I've put almost 4k km that's working fine (sometimes it charges weird, but at least it's working), and the fifth one isn't being used because the front wheel on that bike broke during a crash and we're still waiting for a replacement.
At which point can I preemptively ask for extra spare RDs? I'm happy to beta test, but we can't be 6 weeks without derailleurs every time one kills itself.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D)
I know this post is a little bit older.
Can you tell me if 20 days was the complete delivery time from China or only after arriving in Europe?

typically 20 days is total transit time, once it's in europe you have it within 1 week, for experience. it is true that tracking data sometimes goes dark for no apparent reason between china and europe. presumably because of VAT shenanigans with DDP schemes. Once it resurfaces, you get it pretty fast.

Re: Stuttering front disc brake SRAM Rival Centerline X on LCR017-D +1 on the loose headset. Be careful, because that sounds like a bad case of headset play. The sort of thing that prematurely wears out a carbon steerer. If you're really heavy and really unlucky, you end up snapping the steerer, jump over the bike, and have a really bad day.
Given you're on a lightcarbon frame, it's probably user error rather than bad tolerances, so should be an easy fix once you find the issue.

Re: Transferring Components from a Damaged Giant Defy 1 to a New Frame
I am considering either an ICAN A22 (I love the black color) or an ELVES Avari Pro. The ELVES is UCI approved, unlike the ICAN.

the ican is quite old with recommended 25/28C tyres. That's very much not future proof.
the elves is surprisingly heavy (baby size 990g) and maxes out at 30C.

Have a look at sp cycle SP-R025-SL - you can get it for cheaper than what the website says. SP cycle = Tideace = haidelibicycle.com = disai. So if you email all of them you'll get the best deal.
SP Cycle has several models you may like.
Lightcarbon has a model or 2 you'll like
I really like my long teng 268.
Velobuild is now consistently making nice frames, the 268 is proving very popular.
Given the elves look like an endurance bike, the yishun R1018 may be good for you - super light, monocoque -.

I would never buy an ican nor an elves myself :)

Re. tools, have a look at a few bike builds video on YT. you'll quickly notice what tools you need.

Re: Velobuild Quality Control
I have a Velobuild 168 and I’d say you get what you pay for. It was $500 for the frameset, you can’t really expect S-Works quality. Even S-Works frames have issues. If you go in with the expectation of a $500 carbon frameset, you’ll be happy and satisfied. I’ve had mine for almost two years and I love it. There are some quirks for sure, but if you’re handy with tools they aren’t an issue. I replaced the rear derailleur hanger which was a job but that’s just because I wanted something specific, the stock on is fine. My paint job has a couple chips on it but it was $100 so I find it hard to complain it still looks great overall and I get so many compliments on it it’s crazy. For the price they’re still very competitive.

Agreed. And the 177 is improved over the 168. And the 268 is improved over both 177 & 168.

Re: New frame: Longteng RD301-D Interesting, very similar indeed!

Looking fwd to seeing your build. I'm just back from a ride this AM on my long teng 268, we did 110+km @34.5kmh avg. I love this bike :)

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets That was a very long message to say: have you tried unplugging it and plugging it again? :)
You could work in IT support now, you know enough to fix 90pc of people's problems!

Re: Long term experience with RD13 hubs? Elite is selling so many of them, i think if they sucked or self destructed, we'd have heard about it.
+1 on hub maintenance though. I pay much more attention to my bikes since waxing my chains, because it's not nasty to handle anymore. So wet riding means water will go places it shouldn't be, so expect to take stuff apart more often to clean and regrease. Just like maintaining pedals, or other bits, i'd say.

Re: WheelTop EDS TX Full Wireless Groupset (Chinese SRAM)
well,
they only respond if you order, otherwise, you are ghosted.
They basically do not care if problems occur..they fail sending me documents...we offered to translate the app to germany, no response.
They promised so many things which did not happen....
i am selling off my grt stock for low prices...if anyone wants a groupset, i will offer better than aliexpress prices including shipping, i just want to get rid of them..even mechanic groupsets work fine...

That's bad. With a beta product, you have to have an open communication with the manufacturer, otherwise it's not beta, it's just shit.
That behavior is potentially a bigger red flag than the failure rates of their groups themselves.
