Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
This seems a bit concerning. Is anyone else seeing something similar?

This is my FD after roughly 2.500km of use. The finish wears away and there is this copper coloured layer below. Where the chain hits the cage, it’s basically polished down to the bare steel. But there’s no scrapes or ridges. So I think it’ll last. The black stuff is just wax. I’m not really concerned by these wear marks.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets I don't think I'd call that worn out. Maybe the pic makes it look worse than it looks in the flesh. It's really only the surface finish that's worn off. What looks like scrape marks is really only residue of wax and dirt. The metal itself is fine. But we'll see.
I got a Campy FD on my other bike that looks very similar. They put a sort of low friction coating on their FD cages to ease up front shifting. It wears off where the chain touches the cage which makes it look pretty horrible. But the thing is still fine after tens of thousands of km. I have no reason to believe that the chain is going to eat away the steel cage. But I guess we'll see.

Re: dcrf26 frame - Scott Foil?
Any more long term reviews of this frame? Can pick one up for around $500 USD with the current AliEx sales. I want a stiff bike to race crits. Wondering if this will fit that bill.

2.500 km on mine. As much as I like this bike, I can't recommend this particular manufacturer - as in Sequel Sports. As I wrote in this thread earlier. User Frank and me we both had forks which looked very unclean inside and were not round in places. The RD cable exit port on my frame was very rough inside. Rough to the point that I had to properly go about in there with a file to put the cable through. The seller's reaction was very telling in that they didn't acknowledge the problem on neither Frank's frame nor mine, saying that all their frames were like that. So if you buy there, you're definitely taking a big gamble with regards to QC.

With all that said: I like the bike. I like the way it rides. I think it's plenty stiff. I think I answered that question already in the TT-X38 thread. We were all posting there for simplicitiy's sake, since it's the same frame. And if you want this frameset, I'd say rather buy it from Tan Tan. It seems their quality is more consistent. Though there are examples of this frame from Tan Tan where the upper headset bearing was sitting too loose.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets No such problem on mine. Do you mean the gear won’t shift on the cassette? Or does the RD not react to when you push the button? The former would be a setup issue. The latter might be water ingress and contact issues at the cable plug and socket interface.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets How's everyone's experience with battery life so far? I bought 2x 800mAh batteries. I didn't really pay attention how far I got with the first charge. When I charged the groupset for the second time, I reset the shift counter in the companion app to zero. I have done roughly 4.800 shifts now and the batteries are at 35%. So I should get around 7000-7500 shifts out of a single charge. The bike has done 2.300km with this groupset now. I guess I could do at least another 200km. Some of this was on the indoor trainer, however. Though I do not use ERG mode there, so I shift quite a bit on the indoor trainer as well. All in all, I guess I can expect 1000km per charge without pushing the batteries too much into the red. But if there are batteries with more capacity, this could be increased maybe?

Re: Converting rim brakes wheels to disc brakes
No it isnt. the braking forces are completely different so they're built differently. i suspect the spoke holes area is thicker on disc wheels because of where the braking force is applied.
it would also look ugly
it would take forever to relace, it's a cheap wheelset to start with, can't make sense financially when you can simply sell the rim wheels & buy disc wheels.
it's a botch that can end with death.

More premium brands might do this. But there's plenty of sellers on Aliexpress selling basically the same rim with and without a brake track. I wouldn't count on them altering their layup at the spoke holes depending on the braking method. The spoke hole drilling and angle however will be an issue if you rebuild a rim brake wheel for disc. The rear might work, since it's asymmetric to begin with and the NDS spokes will only have to go steeper. But the front rim will be drilled for symmetrical spoke angles and also spoke count might not work. Most disc front wheels have 24 spokes. Most rim brake wheels have 21 spokes or even as few as 16 spokes.

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress? On lightweight cassettes:

I bought an SROAD/Spedao monobloc 11-32 12sp cassette made of steel. Around 6000km and still going strong. Shifts perfectly fine and weighs around 230g.
On my new disc brake bike I took a gamble and bought an 11-34 12sp cassette from Goldix made of an aluminium monobloc and several single cogs made of steel. After around 2000km there's visible wear marks on at least one of the alu cogs. So much so in fact that I can provoke the chain to skip on it. Also, I never managed to set the gearing up on this cassette as smooth as I would have liked. The shifting is just rough and noticeably less smooth than on any other cassette I tried. I now went out and bought another monobloc steel cassette. This time from ZTTO because I think the design is even better than with Spedao/Sroad.
Bottom line: Don't waste your money on these alu/steel cassettes. I think no matter which manufacturer you're getting them from, they're just not that great.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets Keep in mind that the so called official LTWOO store is not actually owned or run by LTWOO. At least according to Joe from China Cycling/Panda Podium. That’s why I just chose the best offer regardless of who the seller is and went with the 80s Designer Store.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets Keep in mind that the gear protection feature will not entirely block the big/big or small/small combo. If you are on either end of the cassette and click the FD shifter buttons it will still make the shift despite gear protection. So you should at least have it set up so your chain won’t get too slack or is not too short, otherwise you might damage your RD.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
the lower pulley has a narrow / wide teeth config, so you have to feed the chain correctly. i guess it helps with shifting quality?

+1 on that
Mine has the pulley with the narrow/wide teeth in the lower position.
I swapped my cheap aluminium/steel hybrid cassette for a ZTTO lightweight one piece steel cassette. It has absolutely transformed the shifting and it‘s now WAAAY better, quicker, quieter and smoother. Only confirms my assumption that these cheap cassettes are not worth it. (Mine was the Goldix one but they’re all the same I think). But even more so, I’m only realising now how much this has hampered my er9 groupset. It’s soo much better now. Amazing.
