Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
does anyone know of any solution similar to 12speed garage door opener?
I expected to have seen something in Ali by now, but no sign... I find the product really well thought, but being outside the US and with exchange rates the 'original' option is not feasible
I have tried to make something similar a while ago. If you can solder a bit you can make it quite easily I think.
I bought one of those tiny universal remotes from Ali. Sadly enough it did not sync/connect with my gate so that's where my experiment ended...
You can open up the remote and you will find a small and narrow PCB inside. This will easily fit inside you handlebar. I then wanted to solder a waterproof push button to one of the buttons of the remote (with about 15cm of wire) and integrate that button in an end cap.

Should be doable if the remote works with your gate. I have a rolling code gate, so I guess that's where the problem is. But the reviews of the remote are fairly positive, so you might be in luck.

This is the remote: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005058274708.html

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I agree with this but the price difference is massive. I have been using generic stuff for ages and works well. I've not removed it from any frames to which it is applied but I cut lengths of tape onto parchment paper then used a scalpel to cut the pieces nicely. Came out okay, definitely not like an Invisiframe kit though.

I use standard automotive protection film from amazon. It's like <30 EUR for 30x200cm or so. I cut it to the size I need and the 30x200 lasts for ages... I apply it with water and a hairdryer.

Re: Has anyone tried Airwolf wheels? I hope you get this solved...

I can't believe there are fake Novatec hubs  :o I bought a couple of sets for 80 EUR in the past sale. And that is incl VAT... They can't win more dan 10 EUR by using fake hubs I guess... That's a really low move...

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
Sounds fun, got any pics of those?

And yeah, I totally get you. I'm just a sucker for colors. Resale value is a good point as well but it isn't a high priority for me.

I don't know about resale value... I expect the resale value of my 500EUR china frames to be 0 in every color...

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame
The issue arises with the C ring. It sits very good on the bearing but there is movement between the inside of the C ring and the steerer tube of the fork. I did not tighten everything down since I did not cut the fork. My presumption is that this interface C ring/steerer tube is the source of the headset play everyone is experiencing. Is it normal for this interface to be so slack or should this be snug? Steerer tube measures 28.6mm as it should but the inside of the C ring is close to 29mm (28.8). I think of shimming this to eliminate the play. This is my first integrated headset that I have been working on.
Nice find... The inside of the C-ring I have here is 29,1mm. But since it is open it might be possible to compress it a little bit with a vice...
I went ahead and ordered this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006475816268.html
It has a totally different C-ring, so maybe that will help.

Re: New Gravel Frame Ican Graro
No, I don't, and I have been looking at other options. That said, I'm a bit confused about compatibility between integrated headsets.
I'm also considering a traditional handlebar and routing the cables under the stem into the headset.
Judging on the pictures I would say the headset is fairly standard. Round and for 52mm bearings. Most generic handlebars will include the necessary spacers.

Re: New Gravel Frame Ican Graro Well, I guess it is the line that runs through the centre of the BB and parallel to the back of the seattube. Since other measurements like seat tube angle and top tube length are also taken off this line it seems to be fair to measure setback with this line.

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame Lots of people have no play, so maybe it's just tolerances. Not saying one is wrong and one is right. I'm just going to try the other one and see if it helps.

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame But then again: if it makes no difference, why are there 2 different ring supplied in the set in the picture? ???

Tempting and not tempting! The ER9 is slightly cheaper at $347 USD and they are adding discount bonuses bringing the total right under $360 USD with tax+shipping. Personally the ER9 has been awesome for me, but it's hard not to ignore issues other users have been facing.
Yeah, with all the problems people are having with the ltwoo electronic groups it's no wonder they have to discount it... I wouldn't take the risk even if they gave it out for free. It's not worth getting stranded in the middel of nowhere.
