Re: LTWOO eGR
I was excited about this group when I first heard about it but with all the issues ERX has had, I'll definitely wait this one out a bit.
Same, either that or wait for Sensah. If their full mechanical group's quality is any indication, I think Sensah will be better than what LTwoo did in first attempt.

Re: GR029 thru axle warning. As if trading these waters of open mold territory was not already treacherous enough. Velobuild is trading on thin ice with the new 268 too by using Mavic release system for reasons unknown. What is this proprietary system on GR029 though, from the photos on Aliex it doesn't look different than regular TA dropouts. Is it reversible 12/15mm threaded insert?

Re: Eddie's Airwolf YFR066 Build Thread Looking good there! Tan walled tires with brown tape are going well together. If you ever come ride on Cedar river trail, I'll keep an eye out. Not many open mold bikes in the area.

Re: VeloBuild Headset Play Issue Using Separate Stem/Handlebar: Resolved. Good working getting to page 5! Though I think the newer framesets that VB shipped out in 2023 all have the new cut out C ring that solves this problem. Mine was fixed after the new C ring.

Re: Patty's Long Rant and Guide To Affordable Frames
Why do you choose for Velobuild and not for TanTan for $500 frames? TanTan is a real manufacturer as I saw in one of your videos right? While Velobuild looks more like a reseller, isn't it?
Communication and the website looked better. Sent mail to TanTan and crickets. Sent mail to VB and Chris responded in an hour, pretty much every communication after that was fast (and I had quite a few). 6 months after I bought the frame, new C ring was shipped immediately after I sent mail. I have no complaints and I accept certain DIY hacks that you have to do with those frames. Back to TanTan, I think it was Rita who did respond after a few days but by then I had already made up my mind. There was a funny discussion here a while ago how VB probably has many customer reps who all just go under one umbrella name - Chris. He is everywhere, floating that company almost singlehandedly!
Oh and its not mentioned here but I must say, Carbonda's communication is really good too. Their overall process looks more professional like the drawings, colors etc. Carbonda/Flybike 696 frame's reviews sort of bolstered my confidence in Chiner frames.

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame

The paintjob looks like good quality, and my decals were neatly placed.

Just a question, I have 105 brakes but no adapters for mounting (160mm disc in front, 140 in the back) - anyone knows which one specifically I need? I ordered one but it seems to be the wrong one, will wait until I get it.

That color is fantastic and good job on the decals too.
Assuming you have 105 flat mount calipers, you need these:

Re: Patty's Long Rant and Guide To Affordable Frames
Sidenote: I've had my eye on Light Bicycle's Falcon WR65 wheels for a couple of months now.
Hopefully you will put them on some Carbonda frame. Two birds in one stone.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I couldn't find Ass Savers Winwing anymore but this came closest

I have been using the el cheapo ass saver under seat guard to a good effect, hoping this to provide some more protection on group rides.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! From that pick 3 deals or choice page I have bought numerous $2 bar tapes, especially the ones made by Racework - they are superb. I was expecting them to go bad within a couple of months and since they are so cheap I was going to change them frequently but they held up so well and I am sitting on a bunch of brand new tapes in various colors  ;D. The last relatively expensive bar tape that I bought was a Shimano Pro for $20 ish. Days of buying Fizik or anything are long gone. These $2 bars are as good. The only thing they lack is the finishing tape that's almost worthless. I just use black electric tape to finish the tape.

Edit - Riderace not Racework.

Re: First Road Bike Build

  • Token Ninja Zenith BB841T-41 - I can get it for about 50€
How is your experience with creaking and longevity when using regular pressfit from Shimano compared to thread together from Token Ninja. Is it worth the extra money?

I have the thread together BB386 version of Token Ninja and its been fantastic. It went on my Velobuild GF002. I spent $55 USD on it back then and have put close to 6000 miles/10k km on it and no creaks, nothing. It is worth the price and still half the cost of Wheels Manufacturing bottom bracket which I have on my latest build. When compared side by side there is absolutely no difference between two. If I had to do it again I will get the Token Ninja - it also comes with very handy (and sturdy) BB removal/installation tool that Wheels Manufacturing doesn't include.
