Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I have about $500 in items saved in my cart that are potential purchases.  I have spent the greater part of the last 3 days trying to find the best 11-11 sale deals from my hit list.   Very disappointing overall.   I got better prices overall on items I purchased during the past 2 months of "Choice" and $1.99 sales than I am seeing for the 11-11 sale.  I did not find any discounted prices for Carbon rims I want, mainstream carbon frames, wheels, or other major bike components.   Just a few big price drops on older 26" and 27.5" slow moving items.

Something else to consider.  If Congress doesn't fund the US government soon and we shut down before Thanksgiving,  Black Friday stores wont make their sales numbers.  (I'll stop spending if this happens.)    Therefore, if the US economy takes a big hit, we just might see some real discounts by the end of the year.   Therefore I will limit my purchases this year to only the items I want to stock up on, where I have confirmed the price is the best I have seen this year.  (Based on Coupons and coins to get better prices.)

Some US online bike retailers are starting early BF sales. At least for bike gear, it's definitely a buyers market right now. For me I think this year is definitely spare parts. I've added small items like bar tape, shift cable wires, extra pedal cleats, chains, etc. mainly from the AliEx choice stores.

Re: 1st time builder - frame checks
Just ordered my first frame, from SP cycle. I have been reading a lot of thread but thought maybe I could get some help in getting everything in one place for future rookies like me.
The topic is what to ask supplier to check/document with pics prior to shipping, what to check upon arrival.

Pre shipment checks, ask for picture of:
-head tube and bottom bracket mating surfaces, check for no paint and general smoothness
-rear caliper mating surfaces,  check for paint, flatteness of mounts

Upon receiving:
Check above again

Anything else? What are you experience guys do?

Make sure to record video of the unboxing just in case of damage. You have a narrow window before you can file any damage claims with AliExpress. It's good to cover your bases. I've ordered from SP Cycle before. Their packaging was excellent and shipping was quite fast. It took 14 days from order-to-arrival at my doorstep. Frame was decent with a few rough patches. The paint/gloss coat is a bit weak (scratches easily) and they didn't bother with any internal plastic guide tubes, though the bike was easy to route. I also had issues trying to insert the brake hose through the fork lower hole. I had to sand it a bit and then I re-applied enamel to the hole area for added protection.

Once the bike was built up, it's been rock solid. In fact it's the fastest bike I own based on ride data compared to my other carbon frames. For the price I paid and quick shipping, I'd buy from them again.

Re: Derailleur and chain length I just recently swapped a long cage GRX400 RD for a mid-cage Ultegra RX800 rear derailleur on my gravel bike. No need to change chain length as long cassette and chainrings are the same.

Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023 I think of all the cycling channels I actually prefer Trace Velo. He isn't a crit bro racer or some cycling snob, he's just a dude who likes tinkering with cheap bike parts and enjoys the fitness benefits of cycling. His bike mechanic skills are probably representative of the average DIY bike mechanic as well. All these wannabe YT influencers rub me the wrong way.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
I think even the real pinarello is a pretty weighty bike.  I definitely didn't go the weight weenie route, the 60mm Elitewheels SLT were about 1750g, cassette is a Shimano Ultegra 11-32.  I'm using a cheap set of IIIpro disc brakes, not sure if they're lighter than normal disc brakes.  Also, ERX groupset is quite heavy compared to a mechanical groupset too.

Quick question about the saddle bolts, how do you tighten a saddle without a cutout in the middle?  I realized that one of the bolt faces upwards, and if there's no cut out in the saddle, I have no idea how to tighten it.

Got it. Still a nice build you have there!

Regarding the front screw saddle adjustment, you're going to have to remove the saddle, guesstimate your angle tilt and then adjust the screw prior to installing the saddle. Unless you have a center cutout saddle, there's not much else you can do to adjust it with the saddle attached.

cheapest Gravel Carbon Bike Frame Twitter R7

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001518961776.html

did anyone buy it?
I didn't find any reviews here

Same seller has the cheapest carbon road frame as well!

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800927068323.html?

Before tax it comes out the $250 USD. Though they offer a FEDEX ship option for the gravel frame and a review said they stock the frame in a US warehouse.

Very true. I just have a personal disdain for the internal routing through headtube. The ones I listed are "traditional" internal routing. Maybe its time I get over that and join the cool kids club.

I think with the BXT 135 frame you can still use a drop bar without it being fully integrated and just have the cables run through the headtube. Also there's still some merit to semi-internal cabling. I flew with my gravel bike (which has cable ports on the down tube) over the summer and it was quite easy to pack it in a travel case. I could easily remove the drop bars and stem while not having to detach my full hydraulic brake hoses.

Between Sensah and LTwoo GR9 11 speed mechanical cable pull shifters, which one do you guys recommend? I'm kinda liking LTwoo system for shifting but not sure.
P. S. I do have Shimano 105 R7000 shifters, just want to experiment.

Get the Sensah Team Pro shifters and run them with Shimano derailleurs. The hydraulic HRD version will be on sale soon for the Black Friday sale. The LTwoo thumb trigger gets in my way. Sensah shifters are more ergo and visually clean looking.

Got it. Funnily enough the thumb trigger on LTwoo is what caught my fancy. I have Shimano and SRAM.. And this looked different.

I really like the Sensah shift motion and ergonomics. It looks clean with just one brake/shift lever. The only thing I don't like is that the shift cable routing is a bit convoluted (same as LTwoo), you really need to pull firmly on the shift cable near the RD to make sure there's no slack (indexing will be off) and downshifting might require a bit of finger reach if you're in the drops (requires double clicks). On the plus side I feel the shifting is smoother under load when climbing compared to Shimano, the shift clicks actually sound cool and definitely the lower price. I don't race, so the nuances of shifting might be an issue, but I've never had any problems on fast group rides.

Also at this point, I think Sensah as ironed out a lot of their early production issues. I consider them one of the more mature Chinese brands at this point like Senicx, Onirii, etc. State Bicycles in the US use their components and they're starting to pop as an OEM on some entry level bike builds. Even though LTwoo has been first to bat with hydraulic and now electronic, I don't consider them a mature brand yet with solid components.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I ordered mostly AliEx choice items during the 11.11 sale and the bulk of the items arrived within 5-7 days. In fact the only item that hasn't arrived yet was something I ordered back on Nov. 3rd. My recent orders have been arriving via a nondescript courier (doesn't say who in tracking), sometimes just delivered by a private car. Interestingly enough, even more bike frame brands are starting to store their frames in US warehouses. I think AliExpress is following the Amazon warehouse model.

Though Amazon still has some hidden deals. I recently found a 2x MTB direct mount chainring for $6 USD on Amazon Prime. Same chainring goes for $16-20 on AliExpress. Also I like to search the bargain bin aka Amazon warehouse section for return items. I've found unused Panaracer GravelKings and Conti GP5000 tires for half off retail that way.
