Re: shipping times from aliexpress It seems AliEx is now using a private courier at least here in Southern California. All my 11.11 sale items have mysteriously appeared on my front doorstep and usually in the morning. Usually no status updates (besides processed through US customs) until delivered. I'm receiving fewer packages via USPS and more through private courier.

I think they have a warehouse somewhere in the Inland Empire (near Los Angeles) and many small sellers are using that as a base for their US distribution for things like wheels and frame sets. It's probably just cheaper for them to send a driver out in LA as opposed to processing things through the postal service.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
Just for fun? Or are LTWOO callipers that bad?

LTwoo calipers are bricks. I'd rather source some Shimano calipers if possible or use lightweight ZRace/IIIPro calipers.

Re: 48/32 or 46/30 chainrings for road crankset
Hey, does anyone know where to get 46/30 or 48/32 chainrings for road cranksets? For fitting on 110x4 BCD cranks, like Shimano R7000 or R7100 cranksets. Or other cranksets that are on 24mm spindles.

The lowest 110x4 BCD I've seen are Stone chainrings which go down to 46/32t or 48/33t. You can find both older symmetric or asymmetric chainrings here:

For direct mount, they have this new style chainring that does 46/30t and  48/32t:

My personal preference is the Senicx 46/30t direct mount chainring. Chain line is perfect with no need for BB spacers which seem to be an issue with other AliEx chainrings:

Re: 48/32 or 46/30 chainrings for road crankset This is why I think eliminating round seat post tubes from gravel frames is a bad idea, since you loose the ability to use an adjustable FD clamp hanger. I think lower 2x gear options are much more efficient when it comes to climbing and loaded bike packing. Running big cassettes just look dumb on a gravel bike, add unnecessary weight and you get wonky chain lines. My 46:30/11-36t gravel frame can still sprint fast on the flats and climb the steep single track trails in my area.

Re: First Road Bike Build
I'm curious about your opinion and recommendations on Press-Fit vs Thread-Together BB86 bottom bracket shells and especially these two in particular:
Which one would you pick and why?

I have both a ZTTO thread together PF BB86 on one of my road bikes and a Shimano Ultegra PF BB on my gravel bike. I actually prefer the Shimano PF BB, but I have an alloy sleeve built into my gravel bike that insures a proper fit. The ZTTO threaded PF BB doesn't have the best bearings, but there's a thread on here where people have replaced them for better quality ones.

Re: 48/32 or 46/30 chainrings for road crankset
After a few years with an XX1 Eagle cassette, on my gravel and many other happy builds, I'm not sure I agree with that 8)

I think the problem is my location! It's all urban flats, with the only off-road being steep mountain climbing. My ideal climbing gears would be anywhere between a 40-44t big and a 24-28t small. I prefer not to increase my cassette size to keep the gear ratios a bit tighter and have a more road-like shifting experience. I tried 1x and it just blows when I want to haul ass on the roads.

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle? I've completely switched to 3D printed mesh saddles. I shift my saddle position based on either climbing or sprinting and the minimal friction from the mesh design helps. Also living in year-round riding weather, the saddles don't absorb heat staying cool even on the hottest of days.

I've been able to return items that have 15 day free returns. In the US, items get shipped back to a domestic warehouse. AliExpress then refunded my money once delivery was confirmed. For US customers, double check the return label though. The online system will say USPS, but the label will be UPS! I accidentally dropped my return to USPS. The item sat for 4 days, but luckily I was able to retrieve my package because my local PO was just holding it and I asked for my package back so I could drop it off at the UPS Store.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Is this the cheapest modern 12mm TA carbon gravel frame at $350 (or less) taxed+shipped to your doorstep in the US of A?

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804605254327.html

I think it is, but it's a bit odd with both internal and semi-external cable routing. Honestly, I'd probably spend a little extra on something else. The only thing going for this frame is that it's being stocked in a US domestic warehouse.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Yeah its the usual semi external routing that many other molds like the 696 have. Not tidy but I can imagine people preferring it over full ICR. Not bad with fast delivery IMO.

This frame does offer full ICR though through the headset. Semi-external doesn't bug me though, I don't even own a full ICR frame!

If you do plan on buying this frame, ask for a discount. During the 11.11 sale, another seller with the same frame and US stock (could very well be the same vendor) offered me an additional discount coupon that brought the price down to sub-$300 USD w/tax. I almost pulled the trigger, but I already have a carbon gravel frame.

Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023 That's a sharp looking frame! I saw one Japanese YT'er using his Falath EVO for cyclocross making full use of the wider tire clearance!

Regarding the front fork TA mount being a bit loose, one of my carbon frames also had a similar issue, but on the rear TA. I thought my frame was out of spec, but the vendor recommended I just torque it down until there was no more play. Eventually it settled into place after awhile and didn't require being tightened down as much. Did the frame ship with plastic thru axle holders in place? If so, it might have stretched the fork out of spec slightly.
