Re: Which chains is everyone using?

To be honest the hot wax method may be better, but too complicated and time consuming...

BR Chris

I switched to the immersive wax method and I won't go back. I was able to pick up a $19 USD ultrasonic cleaner (big enough for the chain) and I use a dedicated $9 USD slow cooker just for wax. The only part that's a bit time consuming is the initial degreasing of the chain, but once that's done you just have to periodically re-dip the chain in the slow cooker. If you need to remove the wax off the chain (or residual wax on the cassette), boiling hot water does the trick and you can then redo the degreasing process.

For travel, I'd probably just bring a 2nd waxed chain.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
The mechanical ones work fine, at least the RX12. But yeah, really disappointing how much the electronic ones fail

I'm really hoping Wheeltop or a future Sensah electronic groupset offer reliable competition. As far as I'm concerned LTwoo has dropped the ball for being an alternative electronic groupset.

I don't really mind it, but have a slight preference toward the shimano styled shifters. Sensah style is not perfect either with that super long not-so-precise push for going up 1 or 2 times ;) .

Same here I also prefer Shimano style shifting, but I've grown rather fond of Sensah shifting. The brake levers can be adjusted to be placed closer to the bars, allowing for an easier shifting throw. Also I feel Sensah shifts a bit smoother in the lower gears compared to Shimano. I would get the Sensah HRD shfiters, but I have a couple of hydro Ultegra shifters laying around I've been too lazy to install!  ;D

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Did you have a look on sks speedrocker? They have rubber bands for quick attachement. That's not a full fender setup as you see on City bikes. It takes a minute to mount it on the rear.
But anyway, do what you want... can just tell you this half blade is not working very fine compared to a circular shaped solution.
Guess why I know that?

I don't ride in full rain. The road version works fine on mild wet roads and gravel version works fine on the single track that's slightly muddy. Seriously, I have no problem with the real Ass Saver fender and so do a bunch of other cyclists who use the same thing in sunny year-round Southern California. The knock-off is $3 USD. What's difficult to understand not everyone wants full fenders laying around?

This is the AliEx deals thread, go find the AliEx SKS knock offs for under $10 USD and maybe I'll be interested!

Re: Elitewheels Drive 50D --> Rim Failure Elite Wheels sent me a free replacement rim when mine was damaged, though I had to re-lace the spokes myself (sent it to my LBS). Just give them a detailed description, pictures and order details. I'd ask for a full wheel replacement in your case though.

Re: TanTan TT-X38 Build I see you went with mechanical disc brakes. They sell some high tension gold brake cables on AliEx that work really well if you plan on keeping them.

Re: TanTan TT-X38 Build
I used Jagwire cables, which I was quite happy with in the past. But can you post the link to the gold cables please?

You can shop around, but I believe this store is the OEM that makes them. Just make sure to order the road version and get the right length of cables for the front and rear:

When I installed them, I noticed a bit more tension/spring back on my Juin Tech F1 brakes. Also visually they look a bit more premium! Lol

I attached a photo of how they look on my bike.

Re: TanTan TT-X38 Build
Thanks, but unfortunately the link doesn't work for me, I just get "page couldn't be found".  The cable looks very good!

Just look up "CNC Gold Road Shift Cable Bicycle Shifter Line Wire" in your search engine or search up chooee Official Store on AliExpress. I was going to swap my shifters to Ultegra hydraulic, but when I tried these cables and picked up semi-metallic finned pads (recently released on AliEx) for my Juin Tech F1 calipers, they now brake so well I haven't felt a need to replace them yet. My Ultegra shifters/hydraulic calipers have just been sitting in shoe box! Lol

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I bit the bullet and ordered this power bank/light for longer rides to charge my phone. I was given an additional discount reducing the price to $13 USD, though regular price is $19 USD. I figure I could place it on my phone mount which also uses a Garmin mount interface and I can charge it while riding.

I just received this Cyclami/Rock Bros power bank+bike light. It weighs just under 125g, has a slim profile and both the female and male interface garmin mounts are replaceable. The light itself is decently bright, but don't expect great illumination in pitch black conditions. At best the light will be good enough in city conditions for visiblity. Also it comes with both USB-C and lighting charging connectors built-in, though I feel the cord it a bit fragile, so I might go look for a short cable with both USB-C "male" connectors to charge my phone instead.

As intended, I plan to use it for it's power bank feature to charge my phone on longer road rides or when I'm on remote gravel bike rides. I only wish it had a bit more power than 5000mah. I can see a market for a bigger unit at the expense of more weight.

Overall I think it's a handy device for the price!

Re: Onirii One Looking forward to your build up. Everyone and their mom rides an Aethos in my (hilly) area of LA. Definitely interested in a lightweight, lower cost alternative!

Link?  :)

This is the link to the item, but you'll have to find it in the Pick 3 & Save section to get it at discount:
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804442757364.html

I'm partial to 25c tires and these usually take more effort than wider tires, but with this lever tool I barely had to strain. You just need to firmly hold one side and work your way from the other side towards the center of the unhooked section. Seriously no more sore fingers!

They should make a miniature version that will fit in a saddle bag. It's a little too big to bring on rides.
