Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame Wicked @rga19071976 !

Assuming your paint color is silver chameleon, my frameset was shipped out yesterday in the same color. Hoping it delivers by end of March. I'm gonna be blinding mofos when the sun hits  8)

Re: TPU vs Latex innertube I've been running TPU for the past 18 months. Not a single puncture out on the road yet (gonna jinx myself now). Routine maintenance and inspection of your tires are the biggest factors to prevent punctures, as is running the optimal tire width/pressure for both your weight and local road conditions, respectively. I also use baby powder.

While the weight savings and puncture resistance of TPU over latex is very tangible, latex beats out TPU for road comfort no question. I've converted all my bikes to TPU except for my Winspace T1500 paired with D67 wheels. That bike being super aero isn't exactly light anyway, so I'd rather prioritize marginal rolling resistance and comfort over the 100g weight savings. We are talking like 1% of overall system weight.

Personally I actually find latex more delicate than TPU. Latex handles rough pavement (and cornering/grip) better overall but TPU is better at preventing punctures from sharp objects. TPU is more affordable than latex nowadays. Almost two for the price of one. RideNow 36g versus Vittoria Competition.

I make a good habit of inspecting my bike and tire pressure before every ride. It takes 45 seconds...

Re: TPU vs Latex innertube From Bicycle Rolling Resistance:

"Using latex inner tubes in tubeless tires is nearly as fast as setting them up tubeless. The most significant performance penalties are the higher weight of the inner tube and the loss of the re-sealing in case of a puncture that tubeless sealant in tubeless tires offers."

Sidenote: I ordered an electronic pump from Cycplus' latest update of pumps: E-Pump AS2 Pro. Offers up to 5 inflations at 80 PSI, and weighs less than two Co2 cartridges and inflator combined. To me this is the final nail in the coffin to running tubeless for road.

Re: Rd270 + carbon spokes vs DT240 + sapim cxray Funny enough, I had not heard of these wheels from Farsports/Wheelsfar until last night on this forum. Thanks for raising awareness.

Did about 30 minutes of research on WW. Now I want a set of 50mm 30ext 24int glossy UD wheels, carbon spokes on the RD270  8)

I've gotten so accustomed to 23mm internal with 28/30c tires that now even 21mm int wheels feel slightly harsh. What a time to be alive.

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame I have a VB-268 frameset delivering later today. When it comes it to building up these super budget frames I find that a careful consideration of 3rd party components, wheels, and hardware are far more important than the frame itself. At this point I don't even bother ordering handlebars or headset bearings anymore.

Obviously a customer should not need to do this if the brand is providing decent equipment. But usually this is where the cost cutting measures have been made. Don't leave the 3 contact points up for chance.

Quality handlebar/stem/wheels from reputable brands, extra long compression plug, and a reliable bottom bracket. The marginal upgrade of each component collectively can transform most $500 frames.

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame Size 56
Silver Chameleon Paint
Frame (no FD hanger): 1079g - I'm going 1x. FD delete saves 15g
Fork (uncut): 406g
Seatpost (with saddle clamp): 228g
TOTAL: 1713g

I'm going to assume the 950g advertised weight for a size M was unpainted, and the 180g seatpost didn't include the actual saddle clamp. The 410g fork weight however is accurate. No complaints to be honest. Both paint and facing surfaces look good too.

For Reference...

Giant Propel Size ML
Frame: 1071g (both hangers)
Fork: 361g
Seatpost: 198g
Total: 1630g

Tavelo Attack size L
Frame: 1041g
Fork: 443g
Seatpost: 156g
Total: 1640g

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame I am way beyond the point of gratuitous consumerism and hoarding bikes. But I really want one.

My current Tavelo Attack is fantastic especially with a great set of wheels. It's light and very responsive. The only thing holding it back from being perfect given the price, is I would love a bit more reach. The geometry is more of an all-arounder than aero.

The new Tavelo Arow frame solves both the reach and stack issues for me. And the design means I could probably theoretically dump both my Attack and Propel frames. I think this new frame will be more popular than even the new Winspace Agile.

Re: Winspace SCL 2 disc
I find the whole Chinese "branded" segment that's fueled by YouTubers very confusing. On this forum, winspace, yoeleo, Seka seem to have some of the worst reputations.

Gentle reminder that corporations, marketing agencies, and YouTubers are all in the business of making money as first priority. Even if a YouTuber refused to accept any product "for free", they are still monetizing their videos on said products. Pro bono does not exist.

No brand is exempt from problems and defects. And every product review paid or not will have some measure of bias. The only true solution for a potential new customer is to simply invest their own money and purchase the bike/frame themselves. And then form their own opinion.

I believe Winspace is dealing with an overstock problem, and are trying to clear out old frames/wheels. Which is strange considering they are backlogged with Agile frame orders. Perhaps it's a financial issue too.
