Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Ah good catch about the axle and seller! Hoping other brands like the Elilee XXE or Skypivot show up on aliexpress someday.

Alloy axle cranksets is one area I've been hesitant to make the switch with to AliExpress parts. My criteria has to include a significant weight and price difference, while maintaining some level of durability versus my tried-n-true Shimano parts. For example, I'm a big fan of the ultra lightweight steel/alloy cassette, but the price/weight/durability is worth it for me. Plus the alloy cogs aren't always in-use. With these alloy axle cranksets, that alloy axle has constant force being applied to it, so it's one area I wouldn't want to chance regarding durability.

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
StiffWeenies posted a video with a guy using a r7000 working with the rx 12 speed shifters and 12s cassette.  I will be swapping in my other rd's to see what works as well.  I want to see if the srx or ulterga rx can work. I was told the ltwoo gravel rd has a range of 11-52.  I want to see if 9 or 10 is possible and if the rx road rd can use a 36. I will throw on a 40t if there is enough room with the 36t cassette

I took the pads out of the brakes. I put in shimano style k03s and l02a pads. I doubt the shimano j0 models will work.

Nice. I'm probably most interested in using the hydraulic brakes on my 1x gravel setup. I also have a Shimano GRX RD and LTwoo's GR9 gravel RD I could use in my parts bin. My road bike is running 105 R7000, but on Juin Tech calipers. I'm really enjoying mixing-n-matching Shimano and Chinese components to fill in certain component gaps.

You won't believe. I just spent whole afternoon looking at stuff and was about to pull trigger on ezmtb bleed kit and ztto hydraulic hose tool. I don't even have full hydraulic setup yet.

I tend to double check looking on Amazon or Ebay before buying small items, so I don't have to wait a long time for the items to arrive (though they arrive fast). Sometimes the obscure stuff shows up as a Prime item or there's a local Ebay seller who has it in-stock. My recent favorite small purchase are heat shrink cable ends and aero stem spacers. It's gotten to the point where I can't even talk to other cyclists about bike gear, they're so caught up with whatever mainstream item their LBS tells them to buy.

On ocassion, I ride with some big group rides and I think I've only seen 1 Chinese carbon bike in the wild.  ???

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I'm using a similar saddle like the rest of you, though this particular seller has different colors. The seller was also prompt to ship, the price reasonable and it arrived to my door quickly.

If you're running RideNow or Cyclami TPU tubes from AliExpress, I highly recommend picking up glueless patch kits. The nice thing about TPU tubes (versus latex or butyl) is that the punctures don't tear or stretch, and these glueless patch kits do a very good job sealing the puncture points. The key is to apply pressure to create an air tight seal. Once applied, the tubes should hold up even with multiple punctures.

Though I'll probably convert the rest of my bikes to tubeless next year, but for now these patches can help prolong the life of your TPU tubes.

Re: What is the general vibe like with ordering from China these days? I must be lucky, most my purchases from AliEx have been solid. Either that or I have really low expectations!  ;D

Ah interesting. These look like the Park Tool patches which I've been using for butyl tubes for a while and have been meaning to try for TPU tubes. Sounds like they worked well for you so will try them out some time

I think any of these glueless clear patches should be fine. Also I prefer the clear ones because you can center them better by seeing where the puncture is. I'm confident enough to reuse a patched TPU tube as well.

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
Re Ltwoos new groupset: it seems like early movers/adopters are used as a free testers - or from our perspective: you pay to be a tester.

Explains some part of the low price point, but is a very doubtful strategy and I won’t get it unless things are cleared …

Someone commented on China Cycling that part of the reason for the rushed release is due to lack of IP protection. I guess due to the manufacturing process while using multiple vendors it's very hard to keep trade secrets. They want to release products before the designs get pirated by someone else.

My take, just don't buy first generation of anything! Same goes with cars, game consoles, etc.

24mm spindle, these should fit on your Ultegra BB no issues. Let us know how are they with regards to stiffness, I have been looking at cranksets for my next build and these seemed good.

I have to give Shimano credit, it's really hard to beat their cranksets when it comes to weight and performance. None of the alloy/steel AliEx cranksets can barely match 105 when it comes to weight, let alone Ultegra and Dura Ace. I'll give it some thought if I do plan to purchase this crankset. Nothing wrong with my 105 setup and I'm debating if the cost-to-weight reduction would be worth it.

Another thing I was looking at were pairing these carbon crank arms with 2x 46-30t gravel chainrings for my gravel bike:

Though I'm not sure how the chain line would work with my GRX FD or if I'd have to switch back to a road FD?

I also just ordered a pair of these to try them out... will update in this thread once they arrived and are installed. :-)

BR Chris

Apparently the price dropped last night and there were a few discount codes that I was able to stack, so I ordered the crankset from the Racework seller I posted. From the looks of it, I think this crankset is fairly new. Most the AliEx sellers who have it in stock, list it as a new arrival. I'll keep my 105 crankset as a backup, since I'm not sure about the durability of these alloy spindle cranksets, but so far most my AliEx purchases have been solid. I think with this crankset, my disc road bike should come in at 7.2kg or under the 16 lbs. range. If this carbon crankset proves to be good, I might also get it for my 2x gravel bike as well. They have GXP 2x chainring sets for 48/32t and 46/30t.
