Re: Never gravelled before - need suggestions Latest generation gravel bikes should be able to handle and extra 10 to 15 KGs of a loaded bike. 

This being written,  If I went with a carbon frame, I would ask the frame manufacturer if their frame/fork can handle the total of your weight plus the weight of your gear.
107kg + 15kg + another 5kg buffer = say 139KG.   

I am not sure if many of the Aliexpress stores selling frames list weight limits, but some do.

If you do an internet search on carbon bikepackers you will find that they are becoming more common, and that carbon frames are being used a lot for shorter weekend camping trips.  (Many gravel and 29er hardtails come with fork accessory mounts, and frame mounts.)

Here is the same frame being sold by Spcycle.  My gravel frame, (different version than this one), came from Spcycle about 3 years ago. - I have a little over 7K miles on it, a lot of it on gravel and single track, I used it for 2 weekend bikepacking trips without issue.  I have ridden this bike hard on 10+ organized gravel groaners.

Edit add:  I found my Spcycle gravel frame to very stiff.  It handles well and rides great, but it beats the heck out of me on long descents with washouts and washboard.  I installed a PNW Coast dropper, and added silicon gel to my handlebars, but I still didn't like descending at higher speeds. I built up a custom 29er with a 100mm travel front fork and 2.2/2.0 tires. This has made all the difference in downhill comfort.  I can fly down gravel roads on the hardtail that I was scared sh*tless trying to go down at the same speeds on my gravel frame.   Climbing is a bit slower, but I am more of a tourist these days, no longer a racer, so climbing a bit slower on the 29er doesn't bother me.

These "baiting" low prices associated with a different version of the product happens in many Aliexpress stores, it isn't limited to bicycle parts.  I used to think, "WOW, look at that good price for that item",  I open the link and see that the low price is for a different item than shown in the picture in their advertisement.  It is so common that I no longer get excited and don't get suckered into opening the link in the first place, unless I am looking for that specific item, in which case I will be looking at many stores and reviews to find the best rated seller at the best price.

Here is why I went this direction versus SRAM.

-  Weight, my EDS OX, with battery, weighs 350 grams.   XX1 weighs 373 grams, X01 =390 grams, GX-AXS weighs 463 grams.

-  My inspection indicates that the manufacturing, quality and finish of the EDS is right up there with XX1 and XO1.  (Therefore my cost delta comparison is EDS VS at least X01)

-  (Not that I need this feature) but using the WheelTop app, lets you reconfigure the derailleur to work with 8 through 13 speed cassettes compatible with almost all brands of cassettes.)  Wow! something generic in the world of proprietary shifting systems where the the 3 big boys intentionally change and make your groupset obsolete every few years and you can't mix and match parts between brands, because they "optimize" shifting to one set of specific parts.

- At least to date, the shifting is smooth, fast, and quiet and with only a push of the button.  Side note:  I have been wanting to go electric/wireless for a couple years now because of a right wrist injury and increasing arthritis on the back of my hands that causes sharp pain having to shift standard Mtn bike shift pods)

Time will tell if I still love this product a year from now.

Re: Aliexpress wheels - What's wrong Drum Roll...   They aren't stated as being tubeless!   No way would I go back to using tubes in any of my 29ers.  Factor in the weight of tubes, plus you have to deal with the possibility of a tube pinch on these narrow rims.

Re: New Lexon spirit I've held off on purchasing one of these frame.  After they raised the price above $1K USD, (plus shipping) I lost interest.   It is the time of year that I ride, and until fall/winter, I don't have any plans to assemble another bike.  I've been enjoying the hardtails I built in the spring.   My 19 lb Spcycle carbon hardtail is so light and handles about 90% of the trails I normally ride on.  I just don't see the need right now for a Spirit frame.   Perhaps they will go on sale in the fall...

I influenced 2 other friends to order a set each.  Therefore I caused 4 of the orders, when their stock count was a 10 units.

Anyone else order a set on this forum?

Re: WheelTop EDX OS Series Wireless MTB Drivetrain They hide the links to the apps fairly well.  A few of the stores on Aliexpress posted them in the past.
(I still have not been able to get the Android version of their app to work for in the US.   I wrote Wheeltop weeks ago, when a "working version for the US" will be available and they never got back to me.)

I set up an account, but when I put in my login, it slams by location to Canada, then my login doesn't work.  OTOH, on my wife's Apple phone I was able to login and use the app.
