Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I purchased this one almost 2 years ago.  It is a smart trainer and has served me well for the past 2 winters.

Re: EDS electronic rear Derailleur
Having the GX AXS at 300-400 USD on sales (e.g. rcz, and some shops), I am not sure what is the appeal of the EDS.

1.  Overall weight is less than the XX1.  EDS comparison should be between the X01 and the  XX1 versus the AXS.
2.  I am tired of SRAM controlling their products and forcing you to purchase new stuff every few years.   The EDS OX is a universal derailleur that can be configured to operate on (I believe) 7 to 13 speeds via the smart phone app.
3.  I can transfer/swap the rear derailleur and shift pod from one bike to another in about 20 minutes total.  No cables to deal with. Then another 10 minutes, if you are changing # of cogs on the cassette, and/or cog ratios by having to adjust the limits.

Re: EDS electronic rear Derailleur I purchased 2 of the similar sets with the removable battery back in June for $274 each when they were closing out the old style.    I didn't need the chain and cassette because I use Microspline cassettes.   Seems like a decent price, but if you are not in a rush, you might wait until 11-11 sale and see if someone sells them for less.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Perhaps start a thread about how to collect coins on Aliexpress?  Techniques, tricks, other ways?

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I've always found the 11-11 sales vary a lot regarding bike parts.  Sometimes various stores extend their sales into December, or after 11-11 they keep the lower prices, but then charge for shipping.  Other times, they raise the prices back up and then drop the prices a few weeks later.  I suppose it depends on how much they were able to sell during the first half of November.   (I have a list of items I want to purchase and keep track of the prices and then compare to the sales whenever they happen.)

I don't think that China has the same end-of-year sales "pressure" to sell off items like US companies and other international businesses that try to increase their year end profits and get rid of excess inventory.

I believe that their sales somewhat track the consumption habits of more capitalistic countries so they can overall make more sales and bring back as much money as they can to their country.

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress?
Do these carbon ones, recommended above, scratch the bottles?

I haven't noticed scratches due to removing and replacing the bottle in the cage.   But, my water bottles take a beating on my gravel and mtn bikes.
When the contents of the bottle are cold, and I ride the trails, dust sticks to the bottles.  The dust works like sandpaper and leaves black marks on the bottles. I don't care, because water bottles are consumable items.

Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
I’m doing a build with this frame and have a possible issue with the T47 BB being very tight. I’ve never worked with this style, so I’m not sure what to expect. It gets hand tight after a couple threads and then really starts to get snug. The threads seem clean and it doesn’t seem to be cross threaded. Both sides are the same. I don’t want to get too rough with it and bind or break something. Any ideas?
I've run into this problem several times.  These days, every frame I purchase from Alixpress, I wash out the bottom bracket threads using soapy water and a stiff nylon brush.  Then I blow-dry the threads with a compressed air nozzle.   All it takes is one small piece of metal in the threads to start the binding/cross-threading of a thread.
I spent about 2 hours one time on a threaded bottom bracket thread with a magnifying glass and a fine metal pick carefully restoring a thread where I had messed up the thread due to a fine metal filing that became embedded in the bottom bracket thread. The filing messed up the crest and was stuck in the thread root.

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress? So far this year, I have ordered 75 items from Aliexpress. (63, cycling related items)   I have been very please with almost all the items I have purchased.   Only one item this year has had problems.  it is an ultralight 2 person tent I purchased.  The lightweight carbon poles broke on me during a bike packing trip, so I ended up purchasing a Big Agnes tent in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as I rode through the town.

The tent and fly cover is high quality, but the poles suck!  The "Ultralight Camping Store says they are working on a better quality/stronger set of poles for me. (It has been 3 months now since I heard back from them)

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
Once when I was riding on a hot day with my jersey unzipped, a wasp flew straight onto my stomach, stung me and then started crawling inside my bib! I had to stop and do a crazy dance to get it off me! First day it was sore, next day it itched like crazy. Now I get a little paranoid if I unzip! Lol

Many years ago on a long ride, I was descending a hill and a bee, hornet or wasp (who knows)  flew into my open mouth landed on my Uvula and stung me there.  Big jolt of pain.   Rode on to a town with a variety store/pharmacy.   Purchased some Antihistamines and took some as fast as possible.   I had about 40 mile to ride to get back to the car.  Within about 2 hours, my throat was swollen about 2/3rds shut.
About 8 hours after the sting, my Uvula was dangling down onto my tongue.  It took about 4 days for the swelling to all go away.   (Lots of very cold beverages and Ice cubes along with lots of Antihistamines

For a long time, I was very worried about breathing through my mouth while riding...
