Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! If anyone is running 1x, I highly recommend looking into using a 105 R7000 crankset + Deckas chainring. It comes in cheaper than using some of the 1x cranksets on AliEx, but Shimano quality and a steel axle spindle. I was able to run my gravel bike up to 42t without using bottom bracket spacers, though it's much easier to do so with a threaded BSA if you need more clearance. Weight-wise, the crankset + chainring clocks in at 583g (500g 175mm crankset + 83g chainring). I prefer the 105 R7000 crank over Ultegra, because it's hollow forged as opposed to hollow bonded, which has a higher chance of de-bonding. Shimano actually increased weight on all their 12 speed Di2 cranksets, even 105 Di2.

Another perk I found is that you can replace chainrings without removing the crankset, my direct mount cranksets don't have that option. I found the Deckas chainrings to be of decent quality, I don't see much difference between my other 1x chainrings from Racework and Shimano. Lastly, if you're not running wide gravel tires, the chain line is much more straight on the low gear big cog, the GRX chain line is more extreme with a 2.5mm offset meant to clear wide chainstays.

This seller seems to be selling the combo already, though I put mine together with a take off R7000 crankset I had and the chainrings purchased from Amazon:

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
In bike-discount you have the levers and brakes (grx600) for 400 the set. Add 100 eur for the RD (812) and makes it 500 EUR. These cost 400 EUR.

https://www.bike-discount.de/es/shimano-juego-de-frenos-de-disco-grx-bl/st-rx600-br-rx400-de-1x11-velocidades?number=20073286&__delivery=280&__currency=1&srsltid=Ad5pg_EmqHwZl2Mnd8BDJpdDPxsXsOvGBYzGCPIPRhi0_bDrCa9PCFDkOIU

For that price I would be also wary to get the ltwoo, but ... the GRX without mods goes only up to 46t (and officially to 42t), which is garbage in my opinion if you want a 1x system. I think they should have designed the RD as their MTB ones, going up to 50t to make it interesting. You can mod them with the garbaruk cage, but then add another 60-80 bucks minimum, so 600 EUR for a decent 1x system.

The ltwoo supposedly goes up to 52t out of the box.

I'm currently running the GRX 812 RD with an 11-50t cassette only using a Wolftooth Goatlink hanger extender, no Garbaruk cage needed. Shifts quite well.

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
Yes in my experience, even using the standard Shimano original pulley wheels the shifting is crisp without any noise. I only use the Garbaruk long cage to replace the original Shimano cage.
I combined it on my builds with the light ZTTO 11-46 cassette that is partly aluminium and I use Squirt wax which works perfect.
So far I did 2200km on that bike and chain and cassette look and feel like new... I have to admit I ride mostly in good weather.

Here is the link to the Garbaruk clone on Ali which costs around 20US$:

I installed two original Garbaruk and two AliX sourced parts, I can see no difference in fit or function.

Here is how it looks using some AliX pulley wheels but as mentioned using the original Shimano works as well:

The only issue on my Goatlink setup is that it just takes slight extra effort to shift from the small cog, but in actual riding it's barely noticeable. I'm really liking the GRX 812 RD as well, it's so well built and flexible. I've seen people using it as a 2x derailleur as well with no issues. I'd love to see someone try using the LTwoo hydraulic shifters with a GRX FD/RD setup. The only issue I'd see going with the 12 speed is having to swap over to different pulley wheels to handle the thinner 12 speed chains.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Not AliExpress, but US Amazon Prime. Sometimes I find items at the same price or lower than AliEx but with faster Prime shipping and returns. Make sure to click on the coupon in order to get the additional discounts (tax dependent on location):

Ceramic Speed knock-off OSPWs for 40% off for R8000/R9000/R7000 and SRAM RED pricing it under $25 USD:

FYI - I ordered the OSPW and it's indeed a carbon fiber cage, confirmed by using it to click and move on my smartphone screen. Regular plastic is non-conductive. Comes in at 60g with jockey wheels.

Re: BXT-Gravel-135 How's the frame holding up so far? I think I'm going to get this frame and build it up more as a heavy duty road bike (regular slicks instead of gravel tires). Also I'm curious on weight? BXT frameset weights seem a bit heavier than other gravel carbon frames, so I'm trying to get a ballpark weight once fully built. I'm just waiting for another sale to pop-up on AliExpress!

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
My Fuji roadie has R7000 and there is 40% discount on that model too. Got that one instead. Let's see how it works!

Update. The 40% off seems to have been taken down at least for R7000 model after I placed the order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BR632QL6

I believe it's a one time coupon. Also I cross-referenced on AliEx and I don't see much, if any difference between the R8000 and R7000 models. I actually like this Ceramic Speed style OSPW since it has more holes for a stiffer spring engagement which I tend to prefer. It helps minimize chain drops and in theory should work better if you want to run 1x on a non-clutched RD.

Re: Flyxii FE-02 Build
Parts are starting to arrive in the mail, so its feeling real now! Frame should be here in a week or so.

I need help deciding on groupset. I rode Campagnolo Chorus on my road bike and currently ride Shimano xt on my mtb. Will I be miserable riding Sensah or Ltwoo on my gravel rig, or is it good enough? If I wait a bit, I should be able to splurge on some shimano grx or Sram apex.

At the very least I'd at least get a Shimano GRX 810/812 RD and/or FD if you plan on running 2x. People forget that Sensah has their 11 speed Team Pro Shimano compatible shifters and LTwoo uses the Shimano pull ratio. You can even run 105/Ultegra hydraulic or mechanical shifters with GRX. I'm really loving my GRX 812 RD's flexibility; the ability to fine tune clutch tension and the overall durability. You can run a Garbaruk or a Wolftooth Road/Goatlink to utilize bigger cassettes.

Re: Shimano GRX brake adjustment Yep GRX calipers are a real pain to align unless your brake mounts are perfectly faced. This is a trick I found which might not be the safest, but at least it will minimize rub with new pads. Anyways, first loosely tighten the bolts using the 'squeeze the lever method' to get a ballpark alignment, second release lever and loosely tighten each bolt, but only tighten one bolt to torque spec, the other bolt will be tightened under torque spec to give the caliper slight leeway in alignment. If everything works out, you shouldn't have any rubbing. Ride the bike a bit to wear down the surface brake pads and then tighten the other bolt as you get more pad clearance.

Either that or you can use fine grit sand paper to make the pads thinner! Apparently this was a big enough issue that Shimano redid the calipers to allow more clearance for the Di2 12 speed brake calipers.

Re: Ok I am picking up the juintechs.. what cables do you all suggest?
I am getting either the juin tech f1 or gt.. I havent decided... what do you all use that you like for that not spongy feeling. Also I am a 100kg rider.

You can go Jagwire compressionless or try some these Risk competition level brake cables. I tried the training level cables and they do give a bit more bite on the brake pull.

Any opinions/experiences with Spcycle bike framesets? I'm trying to gauge firsthand feedback regarding Spcycle bike frames. I notice they're phasing out some older stock with pressfit semi-internal routed frames at reduced prices, since it appears trends are moving to full internal cabling and T47 BBs. Or should I just avoid pressfit all together at this point? I was thinking of picking up one of those Ztto threaded PF bottom brackets if I do go that direction. Thanks for any opinons!
