Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I am migrating away from my Jun Juin 4-piston calipers on my gravel bike and 29er hardtail I have set up as a bike packer

When they work, they work well, but I am always having problems with them.

- Rapid pad wear.  The pads wear too fast.  Then I have to start adjusting the knob to keep them stopping with full power.  Then the pistons in the cylinders are pushed out farther leading to shorter stroke.  by the time the pads are worn a bit over 1/2 way, they start losing stopping power.
- If you use them a lot of long descents, they quickly heat up, sometimes boiling the mineral oil.  Since I have to have new pads in them, the thermal expansion of the mineral oil causes the pistons to push out onto the rotor, making the problem worse.   I've had these brakes completely lock up on me numerous times.  With super hot calipers, one has to try to get them to release from the rotor in order to rotate the wheel.
-  Dirt/dust rapidly builds up on the caliper adjustment knob's threads making it very difficult to try to adjust the knob out on the road/trails.

I liked them a lot, at first, but over time, I give them a thumbs down.

Re: SLACK Gravel Frame To me, a SLACK gravel frame can be satisfied using a 29er hardtail frame set up as a gravel bike.   There are many more selections of frame geometries on 29er hardtail frames.

They have hollowed out version of each too. These solid discs are "aero" apparently.
Except in side and cross winds.   ;D

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress?
Maybe too late but I (and my GF) have these on our bikes. Maybe 14 in total? All have been flawless.

I have have six of them on 3 bikes,  Two of my three 29er hardtails, and on my gravel bike.   (I have had a few large bottle knocked out over the past season, but overall they are great cages.)

Anyone find better price for KMC X11s than this? https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805720352708.html

I've paid $25 to $27 for the silver 12 speed chain earlier in the year.  To me, any price under $25 is better.

Re: Derailleur and chain length I see you use the same name in MTBR as on this forum.    Double questions, you should get a good answer on one of the forums.    Your MTBR  thread will probably have 50 responses by the end of the day tomorrow, and start drifing off-topic after the first 5 to 10 replies.  ;D

Regarding your question,  If I change components and put on a new chain, I often make the chain 2 or 3 links longer as a starting point.  Shift it through the gears and see how far the cage travels.  If it isn't tensioned as much as the old derailleur, I will remove a link until it shifts smoothly across the range of gears.  Remember to adjust the limit/tension screw first before removing any links.

Yeah, I had to try maybe 100 times since yesterday to get 30 off this morning... Looks like 10.30h Brussels time is best  :D
I am still suffering from PTAPD.    (Post Traumatic Aliexpress Purchase Disorder.)     I need more compensation from them, via lower prices,  because of the horrible buying experiences I suffered this year!

Re: FM1002 / FM1166 - 150mm frame 2023 on Lyric 160 mm travel is listed as 571mm,  One mm less than the 572 listed on the frame geometries.

2023 Zeb 160mm is listed as 576mm (confirming your post), 170 Zeb is 596mm.

I try to consider what the delta of a longer or shorter fork does to the seat tube angle besides the change in HT angle.  I think that a 170 fork would put my seat farther back and I wouldn't have as much weight forward as I would like for the types of climbing I do.

Large frame isn't too large for me.  Medium is definitely too small.

Re: Which gravel wheels? I purchased these Elite Wheels for my Gravel build around 4 years ago.  They have around 8K miles on them now.  Zero issues!  They have never had to be trued, and have not been babied.  Probably 60% of the miles have been on Gravel roads and a lot of single track.  Probably the best set of wheels I have ever purchase for under $400.  Plus they will be on sale on their Black Friday deal in a few days.

Re: shipping times from aliexpress
Everything I've ordered during the 11.11 arrived already. How is the seller rating? I had to cancel something I ordered recently after a few days passed without shipping. Looked at seller feedback and lots of super late or never delivered reviews.
I just checked.  All 4 stores have ratings at 96% and above.  Reviews in general are good that these stores.   It appear that 1 of the 4 handlebars passed through customs over a week ago, but no updates since.   I wrote the other 3 stores asking for a shipping update.

Presently, I have over 30 items on order.   It is taking too much time trying to keep track of all the items.   Many have been delivered in less than 10 days, others, I am not sure that they have even shipped the item/s even though they have assigned a tracking number.   A couple of my "choice" multi-item orders have been split up.  Half the order arrived within 12 days, the other package/s are over a month now, but making very slow progress in the US. (For some reason, these packages have traveled all the way from California via the 2 regular stops, but for these they continued on to Illinois with several stops along the way, and are slowly heading back west towards me.   Talk about how many mile a package travels to get delivered...
