Re: Elite Wheels / Aliexpress / Trace Velo
I recently had an issue with my front disc carbon wheel and I contacted Elite Wheels via Amazon (where I bought them). I sent pictures and the serial number. Since my wheels were still under the 1000 day warranty coverage, they said they would send me a new front wheel. Unfortunately it seems their production is backed up and they're shipping wheels as they get built. So there's a 12-14 day wait. I probably won't see the wheel until next year, but I'm wondering if buying through Amazon made them more responsive regarding warranty coverage? I'm a bit paranoid buying wheels from AliExpress and I'd rather pay a little extra and get my wheels within the same week from a local distribution warehouse. Anyways, crossing fingers I get my new wheel!

Yea, where possible,  I always buy direct from the company if they have a site,  like Elite.  Even better if you can get from a local distributor who can handle warranty claims #shamelessplug

Re: What is the general vibe like with ordering from China these days?
Apparently, either everyone is named Chris there or there is one person that never sleeps and responds within a few hours and is pretty nice to work with

I've come to the conclusion that Chris is an idea. A mindset. A philosophy...

Re: Consensus on replica frames ?? IMO there are enough nice originals to not do this. It sucks because the Cervelo R5 is my dream bike. But I would never buy a replica frame

Re: 2022 Cervelo S5 Do you think it’s a good idea to get a frame with proprietary parts from a seller that probably infringes patents?

Re: Speeder SC-R52D The BB looks poor ... it's certainly not on the VB (etc) scale of dog shit, but also not like anything else I've seen from Speeder (or brands using their frames).

I'd raise it with them.

Re: Fake/chinese frame or legit western brand bike ? ( You know that Giant is from Taiwan, that can be seen more Eastern than China  ;D
My theory is, if you look at a top end branded bikes, you'll pay about half or less, the price for the same or better equipment.

Don't buy on the first shiny aliexpress seller you find, but do some homework by reading here what sellers have good reputation.
Personally I value more after sales service and reliability of a Chinese brand building their own models, than sellers of copies.

I'm having a hard time to find a frame for a 1.95m guy that is less flexible than you.
I would go for this one https://www.flybike-asia.com/product/148.html ( by Carbonda ) if I didn't have to put 6cm of spacers under his stem although Carbonda told me it is safe.
You should have more luck.

Re: Speeder SC-R48 Justin said it was fine. The Fork utilizes a carbon crown. I’ve since seen this on other bikes too..

I built it up this weekend. It wasn’t easy, but it was also my first time building one up from scratch.
At first I went in the frame with a camera but quickly realized I have no idea what I’m looking for so I just started. I was actually surprised how smooth the BB went in, I expected noises. Again, probably because I am used to BSA. Frame looked faultless , a bit a lacquer at the brakes but besides that I did not notice anything else.

Ended up at 7.75 kg with pedals, full 105, size 49.
Had some creaking from the seat post, tried to torque it to 5 NM or something like that (the clamp says 6NM) heard a crack. Well anyway, reapplied carbon paste and clamped it again. Haven’t heard the creaking afterwards (only a short ride).

During the ride I sometimes heard rattling , not sure if it’s from the di2 cable zip ties I installed that serve no purpose or if it was the cover plate on the downtube that was loose all of a sudden.

So the thing that is left for me now is:
How should I check if that crack is an issue? I don’t really see anything unusual.  I’m not sure if it really was the seat post because that thing is massive. I couldn’t even fit the di2 battery with the pro battery holder because the walls are so thick.
I’m also a bit unsure about the FSA COMPRESSOR they’ve supplied.

My TanTan TT912 build So back in Jan i place an order for TT912 via TanTan website contact thru whatsapp. After confirming the bike parts n confirm colour, paid it n wait for it to arrive.

My frame arrived last week.
Frame: TT912 with swapped cockpit. Instead of integrated kit, i went split stem n basebar. also swapped for carbon extensions
BB: Ztto bb386-24 normal bearing
Brake lever: Tektro TL720
Shifter: Microshift bs-a11
RD: 105 r7000 ss
Saddle: Chiner ism pl1.1
Brake caliper: Onirii BR-05

Wheelset n cranks will come from my current bike. i havent decide on crank lenght yet, but it will be in 1x:
wheelset: parcours chrono 77/86
cog: 105 11-28
crank: 105 r7000 50-34

Unfortunately the extension bar sent was wrong n few screws missing for stem cap. will be sent later (i may need to return current extensions). Paint job was good, but unfortunately theres a scratch on fork, probably during photoshoot (they made a vid on their insta/youtube).

As of right now im stuck with the basebar internal route hole on left side is obstructed  cable cant go thru

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 Rebuilt my VB-177 frameset, as it's off to a new home. My buddy opted for 105 Di2 12-Speed and a set of 1st-gen Hyper 65s. Shifting with 105 feels identical to Ultegra Di2 12sp and the wheels make for a speedy ride dynamically. FSA no69 headset system is the way to go.

After building this bike up and riding it, I'm now quite curious to check out the VB-268. I hoping the 268 takes all the good from the 177 and pairs it with the aesthetics and geometry of the 168. Yes I said I was finished with reviewing $500 frames but...
