Re: [Q]Comfortable Long ride Gravel Frame. The comfort will come a lot from the tire volume and the pressure you will inflate them.
The 696 and 707 frames from Carbonda are great frames.

Re: Carbonda FM909 I think the 52mm bearing on the upper race is to allow for cable routing through the headset?

Re: Fovno Crank sets upcoming Fovno Aurora Pro crankset

Hollow arms so it's a proper competitor to QED and Xcadey. DUB, 3-bolt and 2x one-piece chainrings.

Would be nuts if the 620g quoted weight is for 170mm 50/34, as that's D-A FC-R9100 level weight right there (614g). For reference, QED is 679g.

The arms are quoted at 450g versus 493g for Xcadey and 508g for QED (my estimation).

EDIT: Nope.

Xcadey sans-PM 50/34 is still the lightest at 611g. Xcadey arms alone weigh 443g.

Fovno Aurora Pro 48/32 weighs 610g.

@stiffweenies have you heard of this onirii fire carbon crankset?

looks like it's made by Neutron's OEM, if so avoid it

Re: Carbon Repair - Is my frame fixable? I talked to Canyon and they wouldn't do anything with the warranty. According to them, the chainstay protector is designed to shear off and absorb some of the energy, which it did. (There are a couple of dents in the metal piece.) They wanted $1600 for a crash replacement frame, which is quite high. (I paid about $2100 for the whole Shimano 105 bike.) I would have gone with a Carbonda or Velobuild frame instead if it wasn't fixable.

I sanded the area a bit to get a better look at the carbon, and I spent some more time tapping it. There did appear to be a crack running vertically from one of the gouges, and it sounded different right there.

I decided to have it fixed professionally, and I'm glad I did. I went through Moment Bicycles in San Diego, and it ended up being only $180 to fix it and match the paint, and it took less than a week. (The cost was only half of the initial quote!) The paint match is nearly perfect and you can't see any difference when the cranks are back on.

I though about fixing it myself with one of those kits, but for the money I'm glad I didn't. I could not have gotten it nearly as smooth or matched the color, and it probably would have taken me longer with all that I have going on now.

Re: "The One" Aero Carbon Handlebar Experience Yes - although I've only used the unbranded Fire Spider RTB-07 (which is the same bar, just unbranded and made by the same factory that sells Toseek bars).

Very nice bars. Feel premium. Look beautiful.

I can't comment on stiffness and things like that because I don't really load up the bars that much when riding. But they don't flex or wobble in a concerning way so far.

Wall thickness looked pretty even and they aren't the most difficult to route.

Re: Which chains is everyone using? YBN SLA!

"The YBN SLA remains Zero Friction Cycling’s top recommendation due to it’s overall balance of outright efficiency, outstanding longevity, and coatings that get along very well with fastest lubricants on the market (Mspeedwax / UFO etc). The YBN SLA is very fast, typically within around 0.5w of fastest chain (dura ace) however it has approx 50% greater longevity vs Dura Ace / Ultegra chains."

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
BSA threaded bottom bracket are less prone to creaking than press fitted BB86 bottom bracket. If you want your bike to sound like an old rocking chair go for BB86.

9 bike builds with BB86...no creaking with quality bottom brackets. Thread-together pressfit BBs help too.
1 bike with BSA...creaking within first 500 miles.

It should also be noted that most creaking isn't even bottom bracket related.

Re: Yishun R086-D Aero Road
Hey Pat,

Checked out the review. Maybe a separate topic, but it sounds like you are on the verge of tapping out on cheap Chinese frames. What would your YouTube presence look like?

Ideally I’d like my channel to become more like China Cycling in terms of reviewing not-so-known brands that offer a great value, rather than just simply being budget/cheap. I’ve missed out on opportunities to review more premium products because companies assume I’ll somehow compare their offerings to cheaper alternatives.
