Re: SES AR Road Handlebar from Aliexpress
if someone can suggest a bar with 38mm tops, flaring to 40 or 42mm thats aluminum, i'll buy that instead lol

This will most likely be my next handlebar purchase. I've been eyeing getting a SEKA frameset soon, and the extra reach on these bars will be perfect. You may need to plan your stem length according however. I suspect these will be just has fantastic as Prime's alloy bars, except the claimed weight on these are lighter by 50-55 grams.

FSA Trimax Aero Alloy Handlebar

• Alloy construction
• 7° Forward angle
• Cable groove compatible with new Di2 systems w/larger internal cable tunnel
• 125mm drop, 90mm reach
4 degree outward bend
• 310 grams (420mm)

Re: Magene L508 Radar bike light
damn that is quick, i also live in an urban area and the thought of having to charge it every ride doesn't sound very pleasant.

Well... now after a ride, I charge the karoo, a whoop, sometimes a SRAM battery, a red light, a front flashing light, a Lupine battery if MTB, and the radar. ???
Hopefully I do not forget to charge my phone, and... my car!
And I'm glad I don't ride an e-bike... yet  ;D

Re: 2022 Cervelo S5 Even though that bike looks cool, it just doesn't seem practical unless you pick up a spare fork and drop bars with it.

Also I don't get the allure of fake branded frames. I'd rather just ride with no branding. The only thing I can think of are the weekend coffee riders looking to impress the other non-serious cyclists on how much money they spent. It's not like you'll impress your future mate with a fancy bike! Lol

Re: Sensah Empire issues What about fixing the wrong routing? Maybe then your shifting issues are solved.

11 speed gives 10 clicks by the way.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Is this guaranteed genuine? Cheapest historical prices on european sites is 1150€ for the full groupset I believe. This only lacks the drivetrain which can be had for ~230€. Pretty big discount, sounds too good to be true
A quick google search says you can get the same parts in the US for nearly the same price, maybe $100 more with current prices.
Also, I would be VERY impressed if anyone was making counterfeit 12 speed di2 groupsets with any semblance of quality

Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023
I decided to order the frameset + wheelset + handlebar, size 61cm for me + custom paint, I'll be building the bike with ultegra di2 12s I can't wait for it, I've DMed some guys on instagram that have already ridden the bike (Elves' insta repost their stories) and for now only positive things about the bike being really stiff, one guy said it felt way better than his Scott Addict. Found some videos of the Evo builds :

The paintjob and finishes look really nice so I can't wait to receive mine !

Those builds look super nice! What I find funny is that you'll find these bike build videos from SE Asia that use properly calibrated tools (one video was using a digital torque wrench for the BB) and select high end components to build up their Chinese bike frames. Then you'll see some half ass build videos from the UK, buying the crappiest parts from AliExpress and then proclaim the components, frames, etc. are cheap rubbish!

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
From what I've seen is that lots of parts from aliexpress have no issues hitting the "lightweight" criteria, the issue is longevity of the parts.
It's very easy to cut material from a product when you haven't actually tested it to be safe.

Yeah, but AliEx also has sturdy components like the Senicx cranksets that are very similar to Shimano with alloy forged and steel axles. Plus they have regular steel cassettes if you don't want to use the alloy/steel mixed cassettes. I see the lightweight parts on AliEx as go-fast/hotrod parts meant to match or even surpass the weights of higher end components at a lower cost. Shimano parts are just as disposable when it comes to weight cutting. Hambini made a big stink about the hollow bonded Ultegra and Dura-Ace cranksets breaking due to moisture corrosion. In fact all the current 12 speed Di2 cranksets are heavier now than previous 11 speed versions because of the flaws in their alloy bonding process.

Re: Recommendations on Cheap Tubeless Rim Wheelset?
Agreed, building your own is a great way to go if you want a nice wheel for not too much money, although you'll never beat a takeoff wheel for value.

I've built two wheelsets and found Roger Musson's book is well worth the 9 pounds ($12):
https://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php

He even tells you how to make some of the tools that you'll need, so it's good for people on a budget.

Re: Recommendations on Cheap Tubeless Rim Wheelset?
I think i'll go for the building my own wheelset decision after your comments.
I have some of the tools required.

Any recommendations on who to get a rim from? Since i'm running tubeless I don't want holes so I don't have to run rim tape.

Peter, petercycles[at]foxmail.com
Or lightbicycle, just ask them UST type of rims or no hole.

I'm a disciple of Roger Musson too 8)
Did you see the trick to drive the nipple with a spoke bit and a magnet?
It's fiddly at start, but after a couple of nipples it is very easy.

Re: Recommendations on Cheap Tubeless Rim Wheelset? I've built both rim and disc wheelsets using Carbon Beam Store rims from Aliexpress. They're not the cheapest but very good in my experience. Bitex hubs are a good reasonably-priced option but Ryet have some nice-looking rim brake hubs at very decent prices, although the rear hubs don't have the biggest bracing angle.

I'm also a fan of Sapim D-light spokes for a quality budget build.

Get the Roger Musson book and have some fun. Your riding buddies will be very impressed that you've built your own wheels.
