Re: Elves Eglath Pro Build
How are the Stone 2x chainrings? Like if you're spinning slowly does it consistently hook onto the first shift pin available and shift up, as stock Shimano does? And shifts under heavier loads, cross chains in the big ring acceptably, etc?

They are awesome, very impressed with these chainrings.  Can handle huge watts, shifts are clean, clean, clean and immediate.   Very quiet, too.  I’m using 11speed kmc waxed chain on a 11s ultegra cassette.

I however.. just ordered a SRAM FORCE AXS ETAP 1X set.   ::)

Re: Flybike Asia FM906-D Build
Has to be the same Adam, which is probably a nickname anyway.
How come the frameset is more expensive though? Going through Carbonda a 696 is 480USD

My 696 was $480 when I bought it a few years back. This frame that I am referencing in this post is an FM906-D, which also has a regular version and a "light weight" version. The non light weight version was $490 and the light weight version was $590.

I attached my Adam's initial response back from 2022; the only difference is the shipping cost came down some.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
by the photos alone the fabric seems the kind of cheap polyester which with time starts to disintegrate - loose threads, color fades, and the sweat smell doesn't go away. Of course, that'd be just what it looks like, but at that price, I wouldn't expect anything different, especially it's an unknown brand.
If you're ok with trying and maybe having to throw away after some months, then maybe worth it..

but imo, with offers from Darevie and Rion on the 'super deals' and such, which end up not being much more expensive, and at least you know the brand and that the fabric is better, I'd say it's better to spend your money on those than on some risky new shirt/brand

When buying my first set of shirt/bib on ali, I also got a very cheap one, the one with the multi-colored chamois... I did not even wear it once because it is utter garbage... It's not even worth trying.

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame Well, it seems I have now done 850km with the frame so maybe a little more feedback...
I am fairly happy with the frame now.
  • Stability of the steering is a lot better with the grips less inward angled.
  • Play in the rear derailleur stays away after the modification of the hanger parts
  • There is some creaking that keeps popping up, especially after hitting a hole in the road or doing a little bunny hop. I suspect it is the left BB cup as there is always some anti-seize compound where the cup threads into the frame that even re-appears after a while even after washing it off. I reckon this can only mean there is some movement there. I am going to remove the cup, clean it and put some mild thread locker on the threads.
  • Seatpost seems to stay put for the time being with he 6 Nm torque, thread locker on the bolt and a lot of carbon paste.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) I pulled the trigger today, but I will have to wait a long time. Hopefully my frame will be shipped before Chinese New Year.

I chatted with the European distributor and got some more details and a photo of a complete build (prototype, size 54). Looks promising...

Re: Elves Eglath Pro Build
Hello, the photos of the Eglath frame are misleading. Indeed, the frame is very inclined. The head tube is very high (opposite of the Vanyar) and the seat tube is low. In the photos, it appears that the horizontal tube is parallel to the ground. For example, if I follow Elves' size recommendations, for my 1m78, I end up with 120mm of head tube for the Vanyar and 170mm for the Eglath.

Not quite sure exactly your point, but here’s another side photo of my Eglath with the camera being  perfectly level with the ground.  I used the tops of the tires with my cameras screen grid to make sure the camera was level.  My frame is an XL, I’m 6’0..  measuring from the top tube by the seat to ground is ~ 78cm and at where the top tube attaches to the headstock it’s 85cm, so yes…it’s inclined upwards of ~ 8cm back to front.   Pretty typical imo of many endurance bikes currently available.

Anyone? Willing to try or already tried? They look pretty good from pictures but at this price I'm a little hesitant
As somebody who has taken risks and bought AliExpress kit from unknown brands/shops, based on the shop/brands photos, I would not recommend it, unless you have money to throw away. Odds are you will end up with very cheap and nasty kit, with low grade polyester material, poor fit, sizing and other issues.
Been burnt enough times (a few kits worn once or I will never wear)  I take care with what I buy now, stick to the better brands (Specxel, YKYWbike, Darevie, Rion, Cheji, Santic) from reputable sellers.
If you are on a real tight budget you
with offers from Darevie and Rion on the 'super deals' and such, which end up not being much more expensive, and at least you know the brand and that the fabric is better, I'd say it's better to spend your money on those than on some risky new shirt/brand
you are not going to get better value for money kit wise anywhere

Re: Yishun R086-D Aero Road 1000 mile / 1600 km Update

I've been riding my new Giant Propel Advanced Pro for the past two weeks. So switching back to the Yishun really helps put perspective on the frame and it characteristics.

Also I have been using the R086-D with a variety of wheels: Winspace Hyper D67, Elite Drive 65D, Yishun's own wheels, and Yoeleo C50 Pro. A mix between latex and TPU tubes.

Negatives:
-The upper bottle cage mount is too high. While it's easier to grab, it can make putting the bottle back tedious at times. It's probably less aero too and you may not be able to use an extra large bottle without hitting the top tube.

-The gap between the down tube and front wheel. I can't imagine this section being aero since the sizable gap could lead to turbulent air and subsequent drag. Not sure how Yishun could resolve this while keeping the same stack and reach.

Positives:
-The frame is stiff and but not punishing. A $1500-worthy frame for sure and way more exciting to ride than my Yoeleo R12. No detectable power loss through the bottom bracket. Everything "just works" when the speeds get fast. The back end/rear triangle isn't as composed (over bad pavement) as my Propel/AllezSprint/T1500 but decent enough given the price. And superior to all my other sub-$1000 frames.

-The geometry and design as a whole lends itself to be an awesome gran fondo bike. It's not as nimble as the aforementioned bikes but it makes up for it in control.

Even if the R086-D design or geometry isn't for you, I have no reason to believe Yishun's other offerings won't have the same higher level of performance, fit and finish for the price. Pay very close attention to your bike fit and wheel/choice. Not surprising these two areas will dramatically determine who you feel about the frame. You can mitigate the stiffness with 23mm internal wheels with steel spokes. I need to reduce my fleet of aero bikes and the R086-D will probably be the reason I sell my Allez Sprint.
