Re: Carbonda FM909
A 115-120mm FM909 would be perfect.  I don't think a 120/120mm FM1001 is a good combo, the geometry chart is with a 140mm fork and already has a 78deg seat tube angle.  With a 120mm fork, it'd be close to 79deg, which doesn't match the geo for a 120mm bike well.

Neither is ideal for my requirements, both would be a compromise.    The 1001 is going to be better for the long steep seated climbs here of 800-1400m that go on for ages.  It's also going to offer more comfort on the equally long descents.  But it'll lose out on the rolling sections, road connections and short, sharp out of the saddle climbs.  The 909 higher slung shock also allows for 2 bottles and will avoid some of the huge amount of dust that will be thrown at the 1001 shock.

I'd prefer the 909, but with a little a bit of added travel at the rear for those 30-40 minute descents and rockier sections.  It'd be a better tool for the job, hence wishing Carbonda / FlyBike would offer the 909 with a 'downcountry' rear triangle option.  I think it'd be in their interests to offer it, since downcountry is the biggest growth segment in MTB and new N+1 besides eMTBs (like gravel is on the road side).

**Haideli Customer Appreciation FM-M009 Hardtail Frame GIVEAWAY!**

Haideli Bikes Customer Appreciation FM-M009 Hardtail Frame Giveaway!

It's been a while since we've done a giveaway here, so I'm excited to announce that Eddy and Haideli Bikes have volunteered to sponsor a giveaway to show appreciation for the support the company has received from this community. That means one lucky Chinertown member will be getting a free new carbon hardtail frame!

The frame up for grabs is Haideli's FM-M009 carbon hardtail 29er frame! See full details on Haideli's website here: https://www.haidelibikes.com/carbon-mtb-frame/29er-thru-axle-carbon-frame-mtb.html

All you have to do to enter for a chance to win is meet the following three criteria:

1) Be an existing member of this site as of the date of this post and have at least 10 posts by the end of the contest.
2) Have an image uploaded to your Chinertown user profile.
3) Follow @chinertownforum on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chinertownforum/
(if you don't have an Instagram account or just don't want to follow, no problem, you can still enter)

That's it! Just post a reply in this thread containing the word "enter" and you will be entered into the drawing.

In 3 weeks time, this thread will be closed, and a winner will be chosen at random. That winner will then pay just the shipping fees to Eddy and the frame will be shipped out.

This thread will be closed end of day Monday, Sept 12th. Good luck to all those that enter and thanks to everyone that participates in the discussion here at Chinertown. If you aren't eligible to enter this giveaway, no worries, more to come! In the future we will also announce these on the Instagram account.

Re: LCFS947 - 160mm 4-bar 27+/29 Yikes... that sucks.
If you do get a new front triangle, the "Salsa Down Tube Protector Blackthorn and Cassidy Carbon - 1563" protector fits well

And the winner is....

The winner is... mwh0169!

Just email eddy@haidelibicycle.com and order your FM-M009 hardtail frame. Congrats! Hope you enjoy it.

Please do share a build thread... It's always cool to see what people choose to do with their freebies.

As a side note, the one thing I don't like about these giveaways is that everyone has to put their trust in me to conduct a fair contest and, as far as I can tell, there isn't really a good way to choose a winner that would allow you all to witness the drawing process. I thought there would be some type of app or something, but not that I could find... So, just for those that may be interested, all I did was list all of the valid entries in a spreadsheet and and go to Google's random number generator and input the amount of entries and took the first result. In the future, if anyone has any better ideas, I'm open. Thanks to all that participated!

LightCarbon LCFS958 with Remote Lockout build by PMass Just complete my Chiner frame build. I haven't found any history or write-ups of an LCFS958 that utilize the remote lockout feature, so I figured I'd share my build specs. I wanted to mimic features of the Scott Spark. The biggest challenge with this build was figuring out the specs of the rear shock. It took a decent amount of research. Once I figured out what I needed I bought a donor shock or $235 USD off ebay and sent it to Fox Factory service center for rebuild and customization. The cost to do this customization  was $345 USD.

29er China Frame build by PMass:
19" Pearl White LightCarbon LCFS958 Frame.
Travel = 140mm front / 130mm rear.

Manitou Mattoc Pro front fork, customized for remote lockout. I already had this fork on hand, so I rigged it for 3 position lockout instead of buying a new fork to keep costs down. Technically the Mattoc Pro does not come OEM configured for remote lockout. So I had to do some customizing to make it work. You can use a Fox fork instead that is designed out of the box for 3 position remote lockout.

Fox Float DPS 165x45 rear shock. Customized by Fox Factory to work in this frame for 3 position remote lockout. Details = push to lock, remote position down, Linear Compression Medium, Linear Rebound Medium, Climb Mode Firm, 0.8 Volume Spacer.

Carbon wheels from LC.

SRAM GX Derailleur, Shifter, and Cassette.

SRAM XX1 carbon crank.

Shimano XT clipless pedals.

PNW Components Loam 150mm dropper post.

SQLabs handlebars.

ODI grips.

Scott Twinloc 2 remote with 3 position suspension lockout and dropper post remote.

SRAM Guide Ultimate brake levers with Code R calipers.

Ergon SM Enduro saddle.

Re: LCFS947 - 160mm 4-bar 27+/29 So this is my LCFS947 so far. Still waiting on some parts so it is not complete. But damn am i happy with the colour! Was trying to find something like the Öhlins yellow but with a pearl/metallic effect and found a Porsche colour that looked right. My first diy paintjob and is super happy.
And being a swede i had to splurge on the Öhlins suspension..

Re: Carbonda FM 1003 / Flybike FM 1266 180mm "Super Enduro" Just barely had light enough at the end of the day to get it out and try our local trails last night. I can only compare it with my 2017 Diamondback Release aluminum framed bike (similar to a Santa Cruz 5010 in geometry). The FM 1003 definitely did what I needed it to. It climbs at least as well as my diamondback and just smashes through EVERYTHING on the descent. I took a couple of bad lines that put me into rocks that I normally try to avoid and found that I could just ride over them with impunity. I've had more pedal strikes on this bike than with my Diamondback, but I think it's mostly been my line choices. If I can get out of work early enough this afternoon, I'll give it some more seat time. I'm pretty pleased with it and the paint looks great so far.
