Re: Flat pedals I've used Fooker (Raceface chester knock offs) and they were great. Fooker also makes aluminum pedals, but I can't give personal experience on them. Amazon reviews are pretty good.

Re: Flat pedals I have a pair of ROCKBROS nylon flags that I don't recommend. They developed some bushing play after not very many miles. Still usable but one makes a clicking sound more.

Re: Flat pedals Yep - those are the ones.  Amazon often has them for the same price as Ali

Re: Flat pedals
Thank you I'll have a look at those fooking pedals

Having looked at EU Amazon they are actually the same price or more expensive than real Chester's

Oh wow. Thats wild. The fookers are $26 and Chesters $49 stateside. Definitely wouldn't pay over $30 for fookers.

The seat post is being propped up by cardboard inside the frame for photo purposes LoL

Re: ICAN triaero A9
I mean a full refund including paid for return shipping is good customer service imo, obviously would have been better if it was caught in QC before being sent out.

I agree with this. If they end up giving me a refund for the frame I will say my experience with the company (though not the actual product) was comparable to working with a company in NA. Much better so far than my previous experience with European companies.

+ I had customer service support through WhatsApp
+ Shipping time here was on par domestic products (though cost is a lot more)
- Their service hours were not as convenient for me due to time difference
- Return shipping was slightly more inconvenient (but was still free)

I am actually surprised they wanted the frame back. I can't imagine they would try to sell it again. So either it is an attempt to refute my dispute, or they will analyze it to see what went wrong in the manufacturing process. I am hoping it is the latter.

And yes obviously the QC check could be more strict, and from my personal standpoint it was inconvenient. But if ICAN sells mostly domestically within China (or does mostly OEM), the loss from product returns may be less than you think. Maybe hiring more QC technicians would cost more.

Re: XC frame comparable to Specialized Epic Evo (110mm travel)? A starting place to learn about the Brain system is on Specialized's website:

https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/stories/brain-technology

Depends on which holes you're asking about.  First, there are threaded holes on the seatstay used to to mount the hose that runs between the shock and the "Brain" mounted on the rear triangle near the axle.  Second, there is a larger hole to mount the Brain itself, since it has kind of an "L" shape.  When installed, part of the Brain is external on the frame, part of it is internal in the frame.  The larger hole for the internal part of the Brain is what I am questioning how well a rubber stopper will work to protect.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
If they would just release a wireless mtb shifter/derailleur for 100-200 they would make a killing, as it is that Chinese shifter/derailleur is actually more expensive to buy gx axs so makes no sense to buy at all.

a wired one would be fine with me too... I just want affordable electronic shifting.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D)
Looking at maybe starting a build with this frame, have many gotten it yet? What is the "cheese" incident

it refers to the frame tiagosantos_ss received (here's his post including two pictures https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4309.msg65396.html#msg65396), and the quality issues. It had a couple of voids in the upper seat tube area. There was some back and forth with Lightcarbon but they ultimately agreed to send out a new frame to tiagosantos_ss.

I have put my order in a couple of weeks ago and i'm looking forward to receiving the frame early November. I hope, of course, that my frame will not show those kind, or any kind really, of QC issues.
