Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts Yesterday, I noticed the drive side BB bearings seized  :-\
While removing the BB, some accumulated water went out.
I drilled a 2mm hole at the lowest point of the frame, to let the water flow out, hopefully to make the bearings last longer.

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame If you look at the 947, its chainstays are noticeably thinner and shaped differently than Carbonda/Flybike’s and the dropout area is proportionally much fatter. I remember noticing that imbalance in visual appearance of strength early on when I was considering buying one last year.

When I was doing internal routing on my 1002, I liked what I saw. Some carbon dust that should have been cleaned up at the factory, but nice wall thickness/shaping and solid seams. Smooth port areas that seemed to be part of the mold, rather than cut out after the fact as some are.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Frame ordered & Wing confirmed receipt of payment. Any guesses on how long it will take for it to arrive in California? I know the world is currently a mess, so there's no expectation of it being here next week, by any means. And I'm sidelined with a fractured heel for a few more months, so it's not like I can ride anyway (Note: walking on the beach is dangerous).

I order an fm936 (SL, M) from Carbonda 3 weeks ago.
It was shipped after 3 days and arrived 4 days later at my doorstep in Berkeley.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Wait... WHAT?!!! ;)  Was this with the regular shipping, or did you get a faster option? Wing did reconfirm my shipping address (in SF) on Monday, so hopefully I'll be seeing a tracking number by the end of the week.

Air shipping ($195).
If there is a cheaper option, I was not aware of it.

BTW, I built this immediately and I've already ridden it 4 times .. and it's awesome :)
My only tip is to re-tighten the linkage bolts, as others suggested: mine were all loose.

That's dark.  Funny,  but dark

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame
Did you try what I suggested?

I’m having a local mechanic try redoing the routing along those lines. Won’t hear from him for a few more days at least.

I managed okay with my first try (and the rest of the initial build), but I’m a disabled rider with severe autoimmune arthritis and tend to get really beat up by late winter storms around here so I decided to have him give it a shot rather than destroy my back and maybe still not get it right.

Once that’s taken care of, I’ll probably start my own build thread with more regular updates about what I’m up to with that bike.

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame Took the bike out for longer ride today, and I'm even more happier with my choice in this frame, absolutley flys down hill, yet is so smooth pedaling uphill, with very little bob.

With it being a glorious sunny day I got a few more pics

So difficult to capture the colour in a picture, but did catch the metalic sparkle showing through the candy on the top tube in this shot

This last pic gives a good shot of all the colour variation in the "red" in the sunlight

Re: Ican S3 XC Frame
@Ben78 how's the frame stiffness? Did you notice any flex/wiggle-wobble under hard corners, etc? Always hard to tell just how slender the frame really is/isn't, and how it will ride just by looking at pics.

I don't notice any flex, but I'd be interested in trying to get some slow motion video to see if I can see it moving around. But then, if I don't notice it, does it matter?

Re: FS xc racing bike You're looking at three versions of the same bike more or less. The FM1206 is the FM909, the S3 is the front triangle of the FM936 but with a 4-bar rear triangle using thicker seat stays, and the 909 and 936 have identical geometry other than a shorter seat tube on the 909. Neither the 936 or 909 have shown flaws in the flexstays so I don't think the 4-bar is needed. I'm on the 936 and love it, but for marathon I would lean towards the 909 for an extra bottle on the bike, I hate hydration packs.
