Wow. I’ve generally heard positive things about ICAN, but this is shocking. As an update after I showed them the headtube and asked for a refund, they agreed and asked for the frame to be shipped back. There was no pushback. Refund has not been issued yet as they haven't gotten the frame, but they did pay for a shipping label for me to send the frame back to Shenzhen. I also found a new Trek Domane SLR frameset that was being sold for cheap so I decided to use that for the time being. I mean a full refund including paid for return shipping is good customer service imo, obviously would have been better if it was caught in QC before being sent out.

If they end up giving me a refund for the frame I will say my experience with the company (though not the actual product) was comparable to working with a company in NA. Much better so far than my previous experience with European companies. + I had customer service support through WhatsApp + Shipping time here was on par domestic products (though cost is a lot more) - Their service hours were not as convenient for me due to time difference - Return shipping was slightly more inconvenient (but was still free) I am actually surprised they wanted the frame back. I can't imagine they would try to sell it again. So either it is an attempt to refute my dispute, or they will analyze it to see what went wrong in the manufacturing process. I am hoping it is the latter. And yes obviously the QC check could be more strict, and from my personal standpoint it was inconvenient. But if ICAN sells mostly domestically within China (or does mostly OEM), the loss from product returns may be less than you think. Maybe hiring more QC technicians would cost more. It's always cool to see what people choose to do with their freebies. As a side note, the one thing I don't like about these giveaways is that everyone has to put their trust in me to conduct a fair contest and, as far as I can tell, there isn't really a good way to choose a winner that would allow you all to witness the drawing process. I thought there would be some type of app or something, but not that I could find... So, just for those that may be interested, all I did was list all of the valid entries in a spreadsheet and and go to Google's random number generator and input the amount of entries and took the first result. Hi, did you get your money back? What ultimately happened? I think it's a good case study of the serious, or lack thereof, of ICAN. Hey sorry I hadn't been on this forum for a while. ICAN refunded me the full price of the frameset and shipping. They asked for the frame back and paid for shipping there. Cyclami TPU tubes - more TPU tube options!
I just found these on Ali: Updated the link with better pricing: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804682104591.html The claimed weight is 38g, which is a tad more than RideNow TPU tubes. From the looks of it, the Cyclami TPU tubes utilize what appears to be a threaded alloy valve stem which should be more durable. RideNow TPU tubes utilize plastic valve stems and I've had issues with air leakage (I received a replacement). Anyways good to see more options coming out of AliExpress. If they perform as well as the RideNow tubes, these should be quite good. Sometimes I feel more cutting edge than my cycling buddies who have no clue there's a whole other world of cycling options available!

After taking a chance on a bolany boost 100mm fork for an xc build (no jumps or drops) as it's weight is quite impressive (1800g or so), for just under 130euro. Any updates on this one Oleg? How was the warranty return experience? So, good thing is that return is fully completed. 1. Money for the frame came immediately after I showed them post tracking. Still I have lost 80 Euros on currency EUR-USD conversion from my credit card. 2. They have paid me return shipping, but after they have received the package, so 1 month later. From that point of view, ICAN is a fair company. Peggy is also nice, but he can not handle the absence of QC in ICAN. Timewise, I lost 1.5 month on handling the faulty frame. All in all, I went with Winspace T1500 frame, bought used. Now my LBS builds a bike for me. February 06, 2023, 01:50:17 PM |
