Re: Chinese floating rotors
It can be a hit or miss, if they are good, do you have the link of the pads, the seller ?

These:  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000587177239.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3dcb4c4dryO01P

I've used them on my gravel bike with hydro Rival too, and that bike has seen a lot more mud/grit than my mountain bike

first post. first build. hi everyone! i’ve been lurking for a couple months doing abit of research, etc. &so my road bike build started. i got this frame from a local guy who stocks&sells sterile framesets&offers them built. according to him, the frameset is from the Avanti Corsa DR series mold. &initial inspection does seem to point to it. but i’m unsure who actually manufactured the frame. maybe you guys can ID it.

here’s some pics of the frame before&after i sent it for a custom paint-job. &the final picture is the entire bike built-up.

Handlebar&Stem: Uno
Groupset: Microshift R9
Wheelset: Mavic Cosmic Elite (Aliexpress)

i’m located in a quiet corner of Asia  ;D

Re: Price & availability check... The price range can be as low as $300-400.

Here is a random selection:

Velobuild $379 to $529
Trifox - special on the X16 at $689, The X8 is $599
Rinascltabike $679-$1300
Ican $535 for the A18  - $900 for the fully integrated A9
Winspace $1180 to $1480

Shipping costs vary between those who have warehouses in different parts of the world. Round $80-$120 from China.

The basic matt black is often quicker to deliver and paint jobs can be up to a month depending on the seller.

Re: Fovno Crank sets Nope, didn't try anything else.

Aaaaand I broke the crank bolt today. But not the one on the drive side which I couldn't torque down properly. The one on the other side, which says "This Place do not disassemble". I didn't touch that bolt before.

While riding I felt that the left crank arm came loose, so I stopped and retightened the bolt, which was tightish again, but the crank was still a bit loose. Took me two more tries until I realised that I had to push my bike home.  :(

The thread in the axle is luckily fine. I'll double check after work, but it seems to be a M14x1 thread. I found some crank bolts on Ebay from France which will probably work. M15 seems to be a lot easier to find.  :-X

Re: ZTTO BB92 BB86 threaded bottom brackets. I think the seal works on two sides.
Preventing too much mud/water to arrive to the bearings.

And a guess, they prevent water ingress at the shaft too.
I find wet mud inside my PF30 one, that kills my bearings from the inside :o

The only option I found is to drill a hole at the very bottom of the BB, when the bike is horizontal.
I had the same issue with a BBInfinite, and against their advice I drilled it at 2.5mm
If water enters, it has a way out other than trough the back of the bearings.

And my bearings last much longer.
Then BB infinite came with these kind of seals.

Probably better to have a trap, or a purge hole already below the frame to do this.
However I did it on my 041 that didn't have any.

Re: ZTTO 54T Star Rachet upgrade kit for DT Swiss hubs Finally got a thousand kilometers (1,015km to be exact) on the ZTTO DT Swiss Star Rachet 54T upgrade kit. Took me longer as it had been raining the past couple of weeks and cutting my rides few & short. Anyway here's the results.

As you can see from the picture, the outer edges of the ratchet showed some wear. You can see the color changed from silver to bronze. For comparison, refer to pictures on the original post, the 18T rachet had seen pretty much close to a thousand kilometers as well before the upgrade. The springs are pretty much unaffected. Performance is still very good and unaffected by the wear.

Is it worth the US$32.60? To be honest, I've never seen a used original DT Swiss 54T Star Rachet to make that answer. And judging from the wear, I'm probably going to get a few more thousand kilometers from it. But at that price, you can probably get 3 upgrade kits as compared to only 1 from DT Swiss. So I'll leave the decision to you.

So there it is. The thousand-kilometers review of the ZTTO DT Swiss 54T Star Rachet upgrade kit.

Re: 1st Build: TanTan/Seraph GR029 with Sensah SRX Pro 1x11 Hello Dmitry

Unfortunately still no long ride with the bike due to snowy conditions here in Switzerland. I guess that the current weather is comparable to NY at the moment.  ;-)
But the shifting feels crisp so should not be an issue. The Zrace brakes are the thing that I am more concerned with, they definitely need more force to activate than Shimano Hydraulic discs.

Thanks for the compliment she is really happy with the bike, especially with her chosen colours.  :-)
The full bike weighs in at 9.06Kg, with some lighter wheels this could go below 9kg I guess.
Unfortunately I did not weigh the 11-46 cassette separately. But it seems to be pretty light for this size.

I recently bought a super light Zrace 11-34 Cassette that weighs in at 230g Vs. 306g of an R7000 11-32 Shimano.
So some of the Chinese parts can offer a weight advantage. The durability needs to be proven in the coming season...

I installed the Zrace 11-34 on my Merida Speeder which I modified to a Gravel bike.
I bought Elite 32mm x 35mm Carbon Wheels and 35mm Panaracer SK tires to complete the build.
The Merida comes in at 9.17Kg including pedals.

Looking forward to see your Trek finished with the 1x setup, curious about the weight when finished!

Re: Fovno Crank sets Did the same on my Fovno Ghost crank, the "do not disassemble" bolt wasn't very tight either, with 47 Nm it went 3/4 turn further in. Afterwards no issues with BB width 96.7 mm, rotates nicely.
