Re: Yishunbike R1058-D Finished the build this week and took it out for the first spin today. Feels stiff and responsive without being uncomfortable. Fast on the flats . Really solid overall and pleased with it. The build went pretty smoothly, was a bit of a nightmare internally routing the handlebar however it wasn’t a Yishun one. There was a very small amount of paint overspray on the rear calliper mount that I sanded easily and was fine .

Re: VeloBuild Headset Play Issue Using Separate Stem/Handlebar: Resolved. Good working getting to page 5! Though I think the newer framesets that VB shipped out in 2023 all have the new cut out C ring that solves this problem. Mine was fixed after the new C ring.

Re: Sensah Empire FD Stiff I gave my boss a Sensah 2x12 groupset...the derailleur is shit, I put a Campagnolo 10s that I had in a drawer and the difference was brutal, with a Shimano I would also improve the Sensah......

Sensah has "copied" Sram...and Sram and his FDs don't exactly have a good reputation   ;D

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame For anybody wondering, the spec on the mounting screws for the disc brakes on the VBR-168 is M5.  confirmed by velobuild via email exchange.  Additionally, on the issue of installing the FD and routing the cable through the frame, I ended up routing above the bottom bracket. The geometry in this region of the frame allows for a nice soft curve as the inner cable makes its way from the down tube to the FD cable exit hole.  I did take a bit of material off the cable stop on the side facing the frame, about 2 to 3 mm approximately. This allowed the cable to land at the stop at a lesser acute angle, still maintaining a good vertical direction as it rides up to the FD mech.
Going against the grain of the advice here about Sensah front mech, I went ahead with the install and it was pretty effortless. Just make sure the cable is routed cleanly from the front brifter. My first attempt had me cabling through the brifter in one of its “trimming” positions. Make sure that the lever is fully released in its small ring position when pulling the cable through.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets I have now done around 1.500 km with my er9 groupset. I had one single incident during a ride where I experienced lagging shifting with my RD where I had to push the button twice or three times to shift. I sealed the cable plug at the RD with silicone grease. I did nothing to the FD. It has been working fine ever since. After some minor tweaking here and there it does now shift very nicely. I’m very pleased with it. IMO for the money it’s a no brainer. At least in Germany I got it for around 2/3 of the price of the cheapest offering for 105Di2.
So my verdict is: I’d probably buy it again for that kind of money. BUT I dunno how it compares to 12sp Di2 or Sram Etap AXS. Never ridden any of them.

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
Haha, correct! they look exactly the same, didn't even realize VB had released a 2024 frame... Tasty offering, EPS moulding with a 950g frame in M, and allegedly a bit of T1000!

I have ridden both the 168 and 268 now and can confidently say the 268 is a clear upgrade, primarily as it relates to stiffness in the right places. The addition of a zero offset seat post is also helping with a better fit. Still getting used to the axles.

No hurries

That silver chameleon paint job looks really nice! Really digging the matte and glossy white frames a few people have posted here as well. My first Chinese company frame from Workswell was matte white so brings back good memories.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Can confirm the gold cables work excellent in general (I'm using them with Onirii hydro-mech and SRAM Red rim). I got them from a brand called "Heppe". I'm guessing they are all same.

On the same topic, avoid black ones those are rubbish. I got a set and the black coating is literally just color on top of regular cable. It's also not even. I had problem pushing it thru the housing because at one spot the color had a lump that I filed away.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
Because i'm intellectually challenged, i went for a ride and the battery of the er9 died on me. Folks, don't forget to charge your group regularly, please be smarter than me :)
I am not using the original l-twoo batteries because of problems with shipping lithium internationally, so i bought what i found, and the capacity of the cells i found is SHIT. Therefore, i think i can get 500km autonomy or so. This is, afaik, the lithium's fault, not l-twoo's fault. Charge your group very regularly, it's quick to do, but no juicy, no sexy. Was a flat ride, was ok. In the mountains, it would have sucked hard.

Does anyone know if there's a garmin data field with the battery indicator of the er9/erx group?

It happens to the best of us! I now carry the USB charger cable with a USB C to A converter, so I can quickly top up just enough to get me home/anywhere to stop and charge using only my phone. Both the cable and USB converter are so compact I can easily shove them in my saddle bag.

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame I'm also doing a 105 Di2 close-out build - split my order up into 3 orders at TPC so I could use 3 $50 off $200 codes, and ended up with a full 105 groupset for ~$450

Wheels-wise, I bought a set of UNI 50/65 (front/rear) wheels from Leon at Yuanan (https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4617.0.html) - haven't ridden on them but they're really nice looking/feeling wheels and he was super great to work with. The price was absolutely right, and the wheels are lighter than my existing Cannondale Hollowgram 35s and shipped with tubeless rim tape and valves. IIRC Yuanan is the manufacturer for EliteWheels
