Re: Workswell disaster we have purchased a triathlon frame from them...we ran into a very dangerous issue with the aluminium stem..which basically broke during an indoor session, luckily...the complete handlebars snapped of due to the broken stem. After checking the stem, it shows it was just a design flaw...
It took us a long time to get a new stem, which is now looking a bit stronger. Never did workswell inform us about this dangerous design nor did they send it for free......a seat post issue could not been handled,we were told, they would not produce this frame anymore...(after 2 years ).

It was just luck, that the broken stem did not cause a major injury or accident.
If the bikes and or parts would have beend tested on those fancy machines they claim to test the parts, this would have shown up after a day..there where 350 km on the bike when this happened..

so, we stepped away from them after this issue..

Re: Magene QED 12spd groupset showcased in Shanghai
I just really want directmount chainrings

I bought Magene's QED crankset with direct-mount chainrings before it got pulled from the markets. Horrible experience, Magene bungled the design and they would bend and become permanently deformed from normal pedaling loads. Magene's warranty department was useless and asked me to delete my chinertown thread on the issue to cover up their screw-up. The most I got from this was a new chainring, which bent again. My experience might be part of the reason why that product got pulled from the shelves in the first place.

Even worse, they have a proprietary chainring interface and no aftermarket spider or alternative chainrings, which means I am completely fucked and have a $500 brick of a crankset. In summary, be thankful they learned from their mistakes and aren't making DM chainrings anymore.

I know the spider based PMs are great, PES is great, and their accessories are great, but damn do I feel bitter about Magene after my QED experience.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D)
Looks very nice  :D

Did you have the chance to ride it. If yes, how does it feel so far? Any problems?

Looking forward to get my frame and wheels.

Thank you.

The complete process of ordering with specifying paint, parts, and building has been a no issue (and pleasant) adventure so far.
Some really minor things are;
Tracking of the frame, a notice of a booked parcel and then nothing for 20days, and the last 1-2 days were packed with updates. Not a product quality issue.
Next minor notice, and im being quite picky now, is that the rear axle threads in place somewhat with resistance.
Hunch is that derallieur hanger and axle thread tolerances are not the same as the carbon parts.
To be honest, those are just small farts in a storm as comparison.

Did a initial 60min ride and pushed it a bit.
Im about 82-84kgs, Pmax of 1300w roughly on a super light frame, size 56 and my reaction is undisputed happiness.
Frame feels stiff and as per geometry of frame, right on target.

For a safety check of handlebar + stem check, I hanged my whole body wheight on the drops and jumped/rocked up and down. Solid as can be.

To summorize so far, _really_ satisfied.

Re: L-TWOO R9 2x11 hydraulic questions. I have a pair of R9 2x11 shifters that I intend to match with an Ultegra R8000 front and rear setup. Opting for this combination was a budget-conscious decision that appeared to be the most sensible choice. Although I haven't completed the full build yet, my initial impressions are positive. Each shifter weighs 250g, and considering the price I paid (around £35), the quality of the rubber seems satisfactory. If everything functions as expected, this could be an effective money-saving strategy, but I cannot guarantee its long-term performance. I'll provide an update once the bike is fully assembled.

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame
To reiterate: again, no other pret a porter molds are being sold this expensive by a Chinese brand

Not exactly true. Here are some examples in this price range:

Tavelo attack 9800(no bars) / 11800rmb('ice crack' paint job)

Tavelo arow 9800rmb(11500rmb with one piece bar)

Seka exceed 9990rmb

Elilee blize 10800rmb

Pardus spark evo 11000-13000rmb(resell price on 闲鱼. Not sold frameset only)

Winspace t1550 12500rmb

Tavelo arow SL 12800rmb(14500rmb with one piece bar)

Seka spear 15990rmb

Bross zenith plume 15999rmb

and the existing customers are paying much less for the Attack than the Arrow.

Attack and arow non SL are same price. SL is 3000rmb($415) more to save 110g. Pretty steep but im sure thats not going to stop people from buying it(in china)

And it looks shite vs stuff like Seka / Bross etc.

Thats just your opinion. Not a fact

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 Since this thread is back from the dead, I thought I might as well give an update. More than 8000k done. No issues. Still the first headset with no signs of wear which is a pleasant surprise.  I wasn’t too confident in those bearings. This is the bike with the race wheels on: 60mm deep/1300g with 28mm tubulars. These feel soo nice when accelerating and the cornering feel is insane. I’m still in love with the handling of this frame and the super quick steering response.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 Are we doing update posts? 3000k update from me! Still working like a charm. I have put some "skateboard" grip tape on the seatpost wedge, as it wanted to reduce the torque on these bolts after what I've seen in this thread. Seatpost now holds with 2nm on the bolts.

And I can confirm you can actually ride TT on this, if you are brave enough and have a 3d printer, lol. A bit sketchy, but I wanted to try out the TT position for a bit before I pull the trigger on a new frame

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
I really like these emonda looking frames. If you ever see one capable of taking 32C, please message me.
I actually rode today with a guy who has a 6000 EUR emonda di2. Such a nice bike. He's an ex pro so in my book he's allowed to spend 6k on a bike :p

32mm wide tires would be pushing it to the limit... I currently use 30mm Conti GP5000 and there is still room to go a bit wider.

These bikes can RAIL corners. The set of 30c I have on my blue bike inflated to 32mm. I can lean the bike waaaaay too far into turns. Its amazing.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
I had the GR9 hydraulic levers paired with the Zrace XG calipers, design, weight and color choice were attractive at the time.
My experience with the calipers was less than stelar... the back brake did never work, even after several bleeds. The brake feeling was always soft and not very assuring on steep downhill rides. Installed the heavier L-Twoo calipers and breaking feel and performance is now good.

This is funny, I just did the opposite. My LTwoo calipers worked fine, but the weight gain going with the ER9 was bugging me. I had ZRace XG calipers I bought on a whim awhile back and decided to install them. In the process I also opted to switch to 140mm rear rotors and cut a few extra grams. I didn't even do a proper bleed since I did a direct swap with the calipers. Brake feel is surprisingly good with the ER9 levers. The weight savings is quite significant because I cut about 100g from the calipers.

BTW - do you have a photo of your heat shrink cables? I'm using a coat of rubber cement + dielectric grease on my cables, but now I'm realizing it's a bit of a dirt magnet. I'd prefer a much cleaner application if possible!
