Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame Just based on numbers on the geometry chart alone, I am a huge fan of the Voice Velo. This is another bike I would buy but wont because of overlap and the budget being eaten by custom ti bikes. I also think if the seatpost, routing and stem are nice enough its actually not a terrible price if the quality and the weight specs hold up to the press. The issue is lack of service and brand presence, but UDH and round seatpost take care of a good number of those problems.

Nice frame, but the stack is so low. It is a pity chinese manufacturers only aim for such low stack bikes nowadays. It really pulls me off the market ...

This is pushing me towards Chinese bikes. As a smaller rider I barely fit on most brand's race bikes without needing to size down to the smallest size because the stacks have gotten so tall. On gravel bikes its darn near impossible with most brands. I think there has been an interesting effect with the rise of youtubers and youtube fitters and some of their obsessions with saddle to bar drop at the cost of reduced reach causing people to size down. I see guys over 5'11" to 6ft tall on the same size bikes the pro women are racing on at 5'4" but with a stack of spacers and a 140mm stem. Meanwhile short guys like me needed the -12 degree 110mm stem slammed to fit on the SL7 and it was the only major bike brand bike that I could fit on at a size 52 because it was the only one that regular customers could get the pro level stem for. I ended up going the chinese Ti route in the long term for my road bike instead, but I am in the middle of surveyed proportions for a male of my height with "above average" hip mobility. Nothing crazy just 5'6" / 169cm.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Anyone use this style of drop bar with the loop built-in?

Satori brand on US Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B69W26MR

I have it on my Journeyer. It's pretty good, I like it. The flare is crazy though and really bad for LTwoo style shifters. I recently switched the LTwoo groupset to Microshift Sword and it's perfect.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Just got a pair of Stone 110R2 chainrings delivered. These are the absolute-black style rings that are milled out on the outboard side. Really nice rings imo. They look shiny and tumbled to me. Favorite feature is that the female threads for the chainring bolts are integrated into the inner ring, not sure why (it’s not like there’s a clear advantage, maybe weight savings?) but it feels extra premium and lightweight.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Rhinowalk has new bags out. I have a couple of their bags and they are a cut above rest of the Chinese bags including Rockbros which is generally quite popular.

These seem a little expensive though.

Project "Purple Rain" Just want to share my latest Chinerbike project using a well known clone frame that was on offer during singles day sales in November and of course some other components off AliXpress.

I know clone frames are  frowned upon but I had a good experience so far, so here we go:
- Frameset including seat mast and carbon handlebar
- Ltwoo GR9 Hydraulic Gravel Brifters and Rear derailleur
- Zrace XG hydraulic calipers
- Elite SLR Gravel wheels 45x31mm
- Continental GP5000 STR 30mm with Ridenow TPU tubes
- ZTTO 11-46 ULT cassette
- 105 Crankset with Stone 46T chainring
- Mixed 5D Carbon saddle
- Wellgo SPD pedals
- Weight just below 8kg

I really like the frame geometry, so I decided to build a second bike with the same frame set and 1x11 gearing to be mainly used for indoor cycling on a Tacx trainer.
First I tried to combine the GR9 brifters with a Shimano GRX 812 Garbaruk modded derailleur but could not get it to shift properly, therefore reverted to the original GR9 derailleur which works reasonably well.
The frame interior looks clean by checking with an endoscope camera and the paint job is OK, but not perfect. The BB is a T47 which installed without any problems. The only thing I do not like on this frame are the plastic head spacer parts which require quite a lot of tension from the head cap to get all the play out in the fork bearings.
In case of questions, please let me know.   ;)

BR Chris

Re: Seka Exceed RDC Broken Frames: Source of Concern? How much do you weigh and how hard do you ride? Assuming you're not too light, from a risk / reward standpoint, buying a Chinese frame that's not the lightest means there will be more material everywhere. And it will likely be stiffer, which is a good thing up to a point.
Although more recent frames (1 year or so) are all EPS foam moulded, which should mean a cleaner inside & better layer compression / adhesion. Which in turn should mean you can go with a lighter frame.

I'm building my 9th Chinese frame in 2 years right now so i've handled a bike or 2.

My Facteur (i'm trolling Factor) is a Long Teng and the other one is a Winow. It's early days (<500km) but so far I love the LT. Which looks a LOT like the 2024 velobuild (268).
The Winow weighs c.7.6kg. Didn't weigh mine, probably the same or a bit less.
I'm c.84kg and my FTP is somewhere between 275 & 300W, and I suck at sprinting. Because of that, I went with chunky frames, wasn't man enough to risk building a lightweight frame blind. The Facteur is stiff AF, the only things i can feel flex (when doing 800+W) are the tyres & the spokes on the front wheel (I went with steel & not carbon spokes because 1. cheaper but also 2. was afraid of excessive stiffness).

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets I've installed 5 ER9 groups in the last 2 weeks. 1 gave me issues for some reason, but it was my fault. Make sure the limit screws are set properly, as well as the 3rd screw that sets the tension on the cage. The RD protects itself very quickly, so if any of the 3 screws are off, the cage wont shift. It's given me a new appreciation for my own incompetence and the fact that stuff usually works as long as it's installed and setup properly. During the builds i'm often thinking "this is such POS" but then an hour later, or a week later, i realize it's just me being incompetent / thick / tired.
Did you unplug and reset? battery's charged?
If you remove the wheel, does the RD shift? Are both FD & RD running the latest firmwares?

EDIT: setting the 3 screws and calibrating the gears (as well as the FD) is somewhat of an iterative process. If you change a limit screw, your calibration of the RD is likely to need updating. I wont pretend that I understand how everything affects everything, but the point is the moment you change the tension on 1 screw, there's a decent chance the rest of the system is affected. And if ONE thing is off, everything can be off, and the RD tends to protect itself and refuse shifting until it's happy with alignments and what not.

Re: Gearing question Well, I went out for another ride today and realized that my crank arm was coming loose--the crank had maybe 1/2 to 1 chain width of play side to side. That would explain the poor performance  :D

Re: Onirii One So it seems like Onirii mis-labeled all their barstems (despite telling me initially that it was only the 360x90 ones that were mislabeled) and the one they sent me originally was 400x120, even though it was labeled 400x110. The new one is indeed 360x100 even though it is labeled 360x90. which makes sense, I was expecting to feel too scrunched up but its actually not bad. When I try to measure the reach, it seems to be 75-80mm not 68. I don't have the best tools for measuring reach, but its definitely longer than they say.

As far as the ride quality goes. Its feels good, I really like the 74mm bb drop, it makes the bike feel really planted in the descents. I busted out a 35 second long, low power sprint and took a local QOM on a punchy little rolling hill so it works for that. I haven't really done an all out 10s sprint on the bike but sprinting is not really what I was planning to use it for when I built it.

I'm not 100% happy with the fit. I did a 4 hour endurance ride and my upper back, shoulders and neck were pretty sore at the end. Some of that is my fault, but also it's really hard to get the fit right when the sizes on Onirii's components are mislabeled. The rear wheel sits a tiny bit to the side between the chain stays which is not the best. I checked the dishing on my wheel and confirmed that the issue is not the dishing. Both rear wheels I stuck in there sat slightly to the side. The front wheel is solidly centered in the fork though. On a more positive note, the frame can indeed fit 32c tires. They list the max tire clearance as 30c but I stuck a wheelset in that had 32c tires just to check and they fit fine so that was nice to see.
