Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) I ordered the ZRACE branded BR-005 brakes for my new build.
Paired with Sensah SRX brifters and Jagwire compressionless break housings the break feeling is really good.
So far I have done about 150km with some Swiss "hills" where the breaks were put to the test successfully.

Honestly these breaks feel as good as the Juintech F1's I have on my other gravel bike, so far so good at a great price!
Long term experience will show if they are worth their money.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) I did order them with the 160mm adapters. Usually you can get different versions at the vendors, just make sure you get the 160 adapters for front and back.

Additional remark:
The calipers are designed so the cables are on the inside which prevent sharp bends when mounted to internal routed frames. This made the break housing installation very easy.

Re: VB-R-168 Build- A sceptic's experience
Have you tightened the saddle bolts to spec and there is still a gap? Could the metal piece have been bent slightly so it is not sitting in that groove properly? I looked through some pictures of mine and it doesn't appear that there is a gap there.

Thanks for the confirmation. I finally got Chris to send me a replacement.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) I wish I could give you some long term experience but for that I did not do enough rides...

Comparing the BR-005 with the Juintech F1's:
The initial bite and break power feels very similar. I did not experience any fading on longer descents.
A 1:1 comparison is difficult since I am using different Brifters: Sensah SRX vs. Shimano 105.
The BR-005 are combined with Shimano rotors, while I am using light Oniiri rotors with the Juintech F1's.

I will try some A vs. B comparisons when I find time.
In the meantime I will try to get some more rides on the new bike.  :-)

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) I ran the br02 and br05. The br05 bites firmer and stop much faster. They feels much closer to my Shimano hydraulic brakes. I can lock the wheels but need to pull very hard unlike hydros. The br02 feel soft and slow by comparison.  I used the same ashima rotors.

I haven't done Hills yet. I really pushed them yesterday in the city with lots of hard stops to see. The br02 scared me one time they couldn't stop me completely before an intersection.

I either have less oil or air in my br02 or the br05 has a better seal.  I've boxed up the br02 and will be using the br05. I hope in may to hit more elevation. Wind and cold rain has pretty much described April.

We had a pair of earlier BR-002's in use for about 9 months and the break power was far off compared to the BR-005.
Worst of all, when checking them after a few months in use the left and right pistons did not activate simultaneously which made modulation impossible.
I would certainly not recommend getting the old BR-002 models.

Re: Chasing wind-GT20 OR Airwolf YFR045 carbon Gravel frames , any experience ?
Very Nice ... How are the brakes ? ... im waiting on my set to finish my build which uses a sensah groupset as well :) ... Although I did manage to get hold of a carbonda 696 frame for less than £400 so that's what I'm waiting to build :)

Thank you.
Carbonda 696 sounds great - looking forward to hear from your build once your frame arrives.

Breaks are working good so far, after some testing over the weekend I really feel they are on par with the Juintech F1's installed on my other gravel bike.
Long term reliability needs to be seen....

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 Hello,
last year I built my first gravel bike velobuild GF-002, had some issues, most of them were due to my lack of enough experience and very easy to solve, and some were known velobuild issues, still relatively easy to solve.

I rode my bike over 3500 km.
My friends, after seeing me riding with confidence, also wanted to have a gravel bike like that, so I built another 7 GF-002 for friends, with integrated bar and separated bar and stem combinations, during that process, I learned lots of tricks, and made my tools better and collect a good amount of experience for building bikes.

I thought now it's time to build a proper road bike for myself again, and here it is, my new VB-R-177, and I absolutely love it.

The classic headset play problem can be solved (at least in my cases) with a sand paper, you should sand the steerer tube until the headcap sits perfectly on the compression plug, and yes, it should be straight, so take your time and try to have a clean cut, it helps.
If you still have problem, micro shims are your friend, cut one and put it between compression ring and headset cover.
For another classic problem, rubbing brakes, you should use M5 bolts that comes usually with break rotors(for 6 bolt rotors) as they are a bit shorter than regular bolts, they may help a lot to adjust the breaks properly.
Other than that, I don't see any major issue on velobuild side.

If you are considering some semi-hydraulic solution like juin-techs, you should not, yes, they can stop you, but the difference is like day and night, now I feel much much safer on descends, and have much better control overall.

For internal cable routing in handlebars, after testing the new method on a friends bike and saw the results, I did it for myself too, so here is how: just escape it, as easy as that :) you save yourself a good amount of time, and it gives you the possibility to change, bar or stem in future if you want to, I will post a picture so you can see what I did.

After about 200 km on this, I can say the ride quality is very good, the bike is very responsive, climbing and descending is very fun, the bike is fast and comfortable.

I did not build a weight weenie bike, so my setup with pedals, bottle cages, garmin mount and velobuild gravel wheels (which I used on my gravel bike) is 7.9, so you can cut some good amount of weight if you go for a lighter wheelset.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame In other news, the 168 makes an appearance on GCN during the bike vault segment.

https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxPP9UE-5DOvxTgI_OMKjzXAUz5oYpxIAG

Looks like just shy of the vault based on technicalities.

I propose we flood GCN with Velobike bike vault submissions.  Heck, let’s flood GCN with vault submissions for all our Chiner bikes!

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056 So I finished my bike about 1 month ago. Very very happy with it. A step (leap?) forwards coming from a Cube Aerial. Very direct, responsive, easy to ride and reassuring. Just rides fast. I go about 3-4km faster with 15 BPM less heartrate in my case. Can't find anything my Cube did better.

Very happy with the end result! Picture was without bartape for easy last minute adjustment of the brake levers. Will take a picture of the driveside one day. But first I've got some KM's to shred! 8)
