Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 Looks good indeed, is it blue chameleon glossy ?
I am awaiting a blue chameleon matte myself, I am wondering if I should have taken the glossy one but I guess both should be nice  :)

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame I have a couple of road races coming up with significant amounts of gravel sections, so I have been trying to maximize the tire space in the frame. The split for one race is around 15% tame gravel/85% asphalt and 45% tame gravel / 55% asphalt for the other.
I have been looking for high volume road tyres with lower rolling resistance compared to gravel tires.

I currently have Vittoria Terreno Zero's in 32c and they are very puncture resistant but noticeably slower than a road tire (as it probably should be). Very good if there is a high risk of punctures or a need for more grip.

Schwalbe have a 34c model of their Pro One Evo TLE which I picked up. I mounted them on Light Bicycle WR45's which are 25mm internal (hooked). They measure 33,5mm.

Surprisingly there is still a bit of space. Obviously they are narrower than advertised but it probably also has to do with the lack of knobs and that the wide rim gives the tire a lower profile.
I would say if you have wide rims the bike could probably handle a 35mm WAM slick tire if you can live with minimal mud clearance. Anyone wanna sponser me some Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass  ;D ?

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 Update on the headset issue, the expander kept coming off and I thought it was the expander. But after changing the expander I realized it was the stem. The screws were coming loose and pulling the expander out, they use sleeve like screws for the stem which I don´t like, I used some thread lock and the problem went away.

The frame is very good but the handlebar/stem needs some work, wanted to buy the old integrated handlebar but they no longer sell those.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I switched to this one. Works a lot better, no slipping issues.

My suggestion, check to see if the stem is not becoming loose and knocking the expander out. Are you using the one piece handlebar, are the screws a two piece thing? Use some threadlock on them

Also there are some longer expanders from Neco in Aliexpress that are quite good.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Anyone use their 177 for cyclocross or adventure riding?

Doesn't sound like it? Wonder how much further beyond 32c you could push it with this frame and some tires with tread.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Wow! That's the best executed open mould build I've ever seen

If you're in Singapore/Malaysia and aren't camera shy, would you consider appearing on an Oompa Loompa Cycling video? The world needs to see your build up close and personal!

These videos are great! Just started watching them  ;D

Re: Speeder SC-R48
Justin from speeder sent me a quote for the 45 with in house hubs, carbon spokes. $760, 140 shipping  $43 pp fee.

Decent price considering the weight but im hesitant given its a new company on the market and while its a good price considering, it is a bit expensive in the realm of chinese wheels.

It looks like their aero frame is a pinarello copycat.

Winspace wheels are another $500. Farsports another $700-800. Vortex another $1200. Dunno where you're going to get good quality rims, carbon spokes and hub cheaper than that.

Also they're by no means new.

Geo may be somewhat similar, but it doesn't look anything like pinarello design language.

I just ordered my second pair of wheels from Speeder.

Re: Speeder SC-R48
Apparently it is the SLC 2.0
The quotes are kind of all over the place though. One guy said 675 USD for a SC-R48V while another guy is asking 550 USD for his barely used second hand SC-R48D.

Regardless, I'm just drooling at the prospect of a SC-R48V build with an unbranded black direct mount set of those fake eeBrakes.

I second this... but not because I happen to be the guy selling an SC-R48V for $550.

My guess is that Speeder is the OEM for Winspace for this particular frame and so it makes sense that it's $675 from Speeder and $1480 from Winspace after painting and marketing.  This guess is based on technical drawings and photos that I got from Speeder and Winspace when I was looking into this frame last year.

A different poster in this thread mentioned that the geometries and dimensions are slightly different but they're actually the same:

In any case, if anyone's looking for one, the unpainted SC-R48V frameset I'm selling is a size 47 with a 513/378 stack/reach.  And to go with it I'm also selling a pair of Bontrager direct mount brakes -- not exactly eeBrakes but similar.

Re: Speeder SC-R48
…pull the freehub (and cassette) off at the same time, remove/add grease, put back on…

Lol.  You know its so blindingly obvious, but I never really thought about that until you just wrote it.
