Re: Elitewheels Edge wheelset I got the 50mm version recently, ran about 350km on it until now. So far they are doing just fine. They came true and stayed so after some running, actually including some light gravel use with 30mm tyres.

My only issue was, they came without preinstalled tape and the tape in the box wasn't enough for both wheels. That wasn't great, but no showstopper obviously.

Delivery to Germany was fast and smooth to my door. After ordering they asked me if I wanted DPD shipping toll included, it would be 37$ additional cost. I accepted and they send a link for another ali-payment from which I had to order a quantity of 38. Seems strange, but worked.

I asked them to send the wheels without any branding and stickers and they did. I like the matte black look. The spokes don't look as good as Sapim CX-Ray though, they seem rougher.

So all in all I'm satisfied and would recommend them at this price point. I'm coming from MTB, so I cannot really compare them to other road sets, how they feel, how fast they are.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets Alright! I think I can now give some thoughts on my eR9 experience. I have now ridden ~400 km over a few rides, one of which was a ~125km ride. I am now using my previous Shimano 11-speed cassette. I guess my take will be similar to what Trace Velo, China Cycling and GC Performance have said; when it works, it is amazing! Shift is smooth, especially when indexed properly. I don't have any issue shifting under load. Though I am only a 70kg rider with max power of ~950W.

So far, I have not had any issue with my unit, except the faulty cable, which LTWOO sent replacement part promptly. My interaction with LTWOO on Aliexpress has been non-optimal, because of the time zone difference and they seem to reply only at certain hours of the days. So, my suggestion if anyone is running into issues is to be precise, concise and easy to understand, as they seem to be using Aliexpress translator for the communication.

A couple of things that I noticed: while the manual trim works, there is no way to switch back to the non-trimmed position, unless you go to the next chainring and back. This should be easily fixed with a firmware update. Another thing I noticed was that battery life is not that great. From a full charge, I could only get ~400km. I am not sure if this is from the battery or just because it is the first battery cycle. I will have check for the next battery cycle.

Installation of the groupset cannot be any easier than installing Shimano Di2 as they are identical, even down to the mineral oil for the brake. The only difference is the way it is bled. LTWOO has another air outlet which should make it easier to bleed. As long as you follow the instructions that LTWOO has on YouTube, you’re good. The brake also feels amazing, I don’t notice any significant difference to modulation or stopping power to a similarly well-setup Shimano brakes.

Overall, I am happy with the groupset and I certainly hope this won’t change anytime soon.

Re: Elitewheels Edge wheelset My 65 Edge arrived yesterday.  ;)

I have weighed and inspected them directly.
According to my kitchen scale 1,532 grams for 65 carbon wheels. Nice!

Unfortunately, there was a fat scrape on the hub of the front wheel. The, the functionality does not affect, but is just stupid ... I have written directly to Elite and also already have feedback that they care about a solution.

Otherwise, the first impression is really good. Processing seems to be visually top.
The sound is very deep - it sounds really good.

Tomorrow will be the first test drive! :)

Depending on how the test runs tomorrow and how Elite regulates the damage, I can very well imagine also a set for my climbing bike to acquire. Of course with a lower rim height.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets I can confirm with the latest firmware update, the trim options are now more refined. The front derailleur will decide the best trim position. I also noticed that they have fixed the incorrect gear selection showing up on Wahoo. It was showing 12 speed when in fact I was on 11 speed cassette. I cannot confirm if this is also fixed on any other head unit. It is still showing that the battery is low even when fully charged. Hopefully they will fix this on the next update. Well, it looks like LTWOO is certainly working on making the groupset better and better. Kudos to them!

Re: Elitewheels Edge wheelset I test rode the wheelset with TPU tubes during a basic training session yesterday.
I am impressed by the first impression. They really go forward. Very Stiff. And the sound is music to my ears.

Of course I can't say anything about the long-term quality. But in terms of ride quality, they are in no way inferior to my Leeze CC50.

Subjectively I would say that they give more propulsion - but that could just be the joy of the new one or the acoustic note of how the high rims cut the wind or the air... so no meaningful rating :-D

Re: Chinese cycling clothes Based on a recent comment here, I'm just trying these on a bike trip:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ev2fVmF

And they are great. They are summer socks, so very thin.
The shipping to Belgium was very fast.

Anyone found some good cycling socks on AliEx with a silicone band around the top to help keep them from sliding down?  Bonus points if they are available in size 39/40.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets Received my er9 groupset in the mail today. After having built a bike with RX12, im particularly impressed with the finishing quality of the RD and FD. The surface finish is very nice. It seems a bit more polished than the RD and FD that come with the RX12 groupset.
The RD does have a serial number, so it seems it's one of the later units. Hopefully, it doesn't fail on me.
Still waiting on the frame that this is going on to. I'll post an update then.

Re: EDS electronic rear Derailleur
Having the GX AXS at 300-400 USD on sales (e.g. rcz, and some shops), I am not sure what is the appeal of the EDS.

1.  Overall weight is less than the XX1.  EDS comparison should be between the X01 and the  XX1 versus the AXS.
2.  I am tired of SRAM controlling their products and forcing you to purchase new stuff every few years.   The EDS OX is a universal derailleur that can be configured to operate on (I believe) 7 to 13 speeds via the smart phone app.
3.  I can transfer/swap the rear derailleur and shift pod from one bike to another in about 20 minutes total.  No cables to deal with. Then another 10 minutes, if you are changing # of cogs on the cassette, and/or cog ratios by having to adjust the limits.

ICAN A40 Build Hello dear Chinertown community!

I became aware of this forum in June because I wanted a new road bike but was not prepared to pay the high prices of the mainstream.
I've learned a lot, discussed a lot and even shared a tip or two.
Now I would like to present you my first build, which I finalised the day before yesterday.
The first real ride will take place tomorrow. So far, it's only been a short adjustment ride of 15 km. Everything feels good and round.

In this thread (http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4254.msg46760.html#msg46760) I was looking for tips for my first build.
After a long search through the forum and various manufacturers, I came across the ICAN A40 (identical in construction to the Cinelli Pressure), which I finally ordered.

Here I was looking for the right wheels (http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4325.msg49032.html#msg49032 . A separate thread about the wheels can now be found here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4444.msg50685.html#msg50685 )

...and this is what has now emerged:

Specifications (all prices rounded up):
Frame incl. stem steering unit, headset, seatpost etc... (800 euros incl. tax and shipping).
+ custom paint (200 euros)
shifting group incl. crank... etc... (Ultegra DI2 2x11 - 8050/8070 version - except chain and cassette and junction box, bought separately on ebay classifieds (used) - total approx. 700 Euro - parts look like new)
Chain, cassette (11-30) and junction box (for in the handlebar plugs) NEW - 150 Euro
Wheels: Elite Edge Disc 65 mm (500 Euro incl. tax and shipping)
GP5000 tyres, 28 mm (I still had used ones at home)
Carbon saddle (26 Euro / AliExpress / https://de.aliexpress.com/item/32961988965.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.121.7a255c5fpus40b&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu)
Carbon bottle cage (14 Euro / AliExpress / https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005266348973.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.151.7a255c5fpus40b&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu )
Miscellaneous (hydraulic brake line, handlebar tape, internal line damping, cable ties, rim tape, Wahoo holder... etc. - all AliExpress) (approx. 50 Euro)

Currently still equipped with normal "heavy butyl hoses".
7.67 kg. Weight (without pedals, bottle cage and bike computer).
But will be changed to TPU tubes as soon as they arrive from the Far East.
Then we will be under 7.5 kg

Total price, even if I've forgotten something, under 2,500 euros (2,440 euros).
