Re: Recommendations for lightweight Full suspension XC/Trail frame
Did you ask Carbonda for the FM1156 ?
Wing did send me a geometry file in August last year, saying it would be available as from December.

@Flo7 has already one and finished his build.

Only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it uses a 30.9mm and I wouldn't be able to keep my 31.6mm OneUp  :(

Re: Carbonda FM909
I'd like to know this as well. I asked if 165 x 45 would work, but he responded with please use 165x40.

I'm not real sure the FM936 is a 165x42.5 is 120. The site says 165x40 is 100mm. I think NS bikes uses a different rear end with the same front triangle. NS bikes has a 165x38.5 for their 100mm bike.
Use what Carbonda tells you to use!
With the FM936 people found out that a 165x42,5 fits and a 165x45 definitely don't! There is no such experience with 909.
By the way, the 42,5 over a 40mm won't give you 120mm instead of 100mm. More like 106mm.
The NS used a whole different triangle

Re: Softail titanium MTB 29/27.5+ (all mountain - bikepacking) Frame received.
2 483g with sliding dropouts. +150g than I expected but it is a detail.

With 6mm titanium plate, it is flexy and should be strong enough. Let's see it in video :

Let's the build start !

Re: Ican S3 XC Frame For the linkage nerds among you (who haven't done it themselves yet), I've done some analyzing of the S3 diagram using Linkage X3.

Firstly, two purely subjective design aspects I don't like about the S3 when compared to the FM936:
- They had to redesign the rocker arm, due to the horst link rear giving more travel. To counter that, they moved the top shock mount further away from the seatstay, lowering the leverage ratio. The new rocker arm looks a bit dull to me.
- The angle of the seatstays does not allign with the angle of the top tube. That's something I love about the FM936 design. The S3 looks a bit more old school there in my opinion.

Now, moving on to the objektive stuff:
- The leverage ratio looks good, fairly progressive for an XC frame (around 11% from SAG). Also, the software confirms what has been said before: 40mm shock = 100mm of travel, 45mm shock = 112mm of travel.
- Anti squat is relatively high, so a bigger chainring is recommended to not increase it any further. A 34t should be okay, while a 32t will already give way too high anti squat at SAG, which may result in a lot of pedal bob. Pedaling technique also plays a role of course. But generally, 100% anti squat at SAG is preferable.

And here some screenshots. Enjoy :)

Re: Any chinese road bike electronic groupset coming soon? Where are you from? r2-bike says on their website that they'll come in 2-3 months. The other big german shops have the Rival AXS derailleurs in stock.

More interesting imo would be hydraulic disc brake stuff, especially for the Gravel guys.

Re: Glasses I can also approve of the NRC glasses posted by carbonazza. I have the photochromatic version with a few other colours. Like I already said the photochromatic works... Just not very well. Glasses themselves are fantastic and lenses are easy to change. Having rimless glasses is brilliant, I hate wearing anything else now.

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056 OK thanks, I've managed to find the frame is 2cm so the bolts should be 33mm (for anyone searching).

Re: Softail titanium MTB 29/27.5+ (all mountain - bikepacking) Final build. 11,5 kg without pedal and GPS mount, 11,7kg ready to ride.

Here is the monster  :o

Here are some details

First test ride :
not tested yet on the trails. Tested on road (1st SAG setup). The position is perfect, exactly how i calculated it.
Once suspensions locked, the bike is very responsive. Once oponed, the rear suspension is not as smooth as a "rear" full suspension bike, but not as rigid as a hardtail. It feels like an elastic hardtail  ;D

Very looking forward to test it in the mountains.
Before going bikepacking, i need to sew the packs. Something that should look like this (but with very small saddle bag)

Re: Softail titanium MTB 29/27.5+ (all mountain - bikepacking) Full compression : yes, when the shock air is "empty". On the trails... let's see
Sewing : yes, homemade. I have a basic Toyota Jeans. It is enough to sew VX21 packs, bivvy, poggies etc.
I don't sew thick corudra for example.
