Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Thank you for the longer term review and the screw advice!
What pedals do you have there? They look nice and light.

That crankset has received a bad rap, but honestly I think the problems are caused from the terrible factory screws they provide. The titanium screws allow you to torque the crank arm higher eliminating any creaking.

The pedals I'm using are Xpedo single sided SPD pedals weighing in at 245g. They're okay, but are sometimes are hard to clip in especially on an incline. Though they are quite durable and spin smoothly. It does help keep my gravel bike nimble.

Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hello everyone, I'm Leonardo

I like to rode road and xc bikes. I have been following Chinertown not so long ago, and mostly interested on xc chinese framesets.

At the moment I am building a chinese hardtail that I have almost every part except the frameset

I'm from Brazil

Re: Ultralight hardtails I just came across the Spcycle SP-M038 which claims to be 780g!

Can't find any mention of someone online actually reviewing one or even talking about it though.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Do you mean the courses do not automatically get sent from komoot/strava/ridewithGPS etc? What units did you have prior to this?
Can you load power-based training programs? I've heard someone complain the iClimb screen automatically popped up which was annoying (which garmin does too anyway). Do you know if it's possible to turn off?

I previously had a simple computer with speed/cadence/heart rate. I haven't tried the training programs, but you can upload them from the app to the unit. There's a brief pop-up screen, but it doesn't really bother me, because I always check if my sensors are synced (in case of dead battery) and I have to select the bike I'm using since I always rotate them.

I've got a couple of gripes with my Karoo
Does it need wifi to send routes, or bluetooth is enough ?

When you talk about "long battery life", how long's that?
And with a bright screen ?

I've heard whispers of a Karoo 3, but I'm leaning towards something else.
I'm sure a gray one will pop up on day from China – maybe this one.

All data downloading/uploading is done via bluetooth. Connection is stable as well. A 2 hour ride only sucks about 2-4% of battery life. A fully charged unite can probably last for days from constant use. Screen brightness isn't an issue and I live in sunny southern California, I only have it set to 50% and it's bright enough I can see the screen with my sunglasses on in bright sunlight. I wanted a computer with navigation and I first thought about getting the BSC300 computer from AliEx, but I figured a good computer is more like a long term investment, so I opted to track down the IGS630 locally which on paper seems to be the more feature rich unit. I looked at other units in the price range, and this seemed like the best value.

Re: japjoe7 Carbonda FM1001 build thread Prepping frame, covering holes and sanding. Btw, didn't want to bother taking out the bearings since you won't see the frame holes anyway. I'm pretty precise so it shouldn’t be an issue with the paint.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! You guys might think I'm crazy, but I've become fond of this cheap alloy axle crankset. As I mentioned on this thread before, just swap out the stock non-drive side crank arm pinch bolts with M5x25mm RISK/Wanyifa titanium screws, properly grease the crank and torque them to around 8-9nm (they torque higher than stock screws). No creaking on my pressfit carbon frame and I haven't found anything at this weight for the price. I'm using this crankset on my 1x gravel bike and it's been rock solid. Plus you won't cry as much if they get destroyed.

Re: HongFu FM138
Hi , do you have any idea of rider max weight and quality of the frame. I own a Hongfu xc frame since 2020 the torpado ursus team frame . Im looking for upgrade frame high quality but must have 2 bottle mounts. I mainly do xcm races and is gets really  hot. Any info on this or another modern high quality frame. I see the ridley frame got more bottle mounts  and the head tube slightly different. Thanks for the info

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Anyone tried these new lightweight cassettes by ZTTO out? Seems like a competitor to the SROAD cassettes as all the cogs are steel but are hollowed out to save weight.
The main difference is that the aluminum spider seems to be attached with thicker and more robust arms, maybe fixing the cracking issue from long-term use of SROAD.

Re: Best AliExpress head & tail lights? I was wrong, it’s the BR800. They are pretty cheap and I may some day end up with a third. They just click right in so I have a mount on the commuter, road bike, and even Tt bike for safety.

Re: 3d printed stem spacers???
I've ran some 3d printed stem spacers on my bike for ~1000km after I built it up until the white color irked me enough to order some cheap carbon ones.

It was printed out of 100% PLA, didn't have any issues with creep in that time.
Since the load is compressive and fairly low, there will be hardly any creep especially if you print it 100% infill.

That being said, use PETG or something that won't deform in the heat :)

3D-printed spacers above the stem are a whole different story. They are not loaded and therefore not critical at all. They are only loaded while you tighten the headset. Theoretical (I ofc do not advise) you could remove the spacers after you tightened the stem bolts.

However, a lot of Allez Sprints use 3D printed spacer adapter for the SL7 stem, as a loaded part...
