Re: Softail titanium MTB 29/27.5+ (all mountain - bikepacking) First ride : not very confident at first, then the smile arrived after the first downhill.

The bike feels amazing with climbing, perfect position, the front wheel keeps stucked on the ground, the bike is stable and easy to place in technical climbs.
While downhill : tThe downhills were 50% noseturns, 50% trial on rocks. The bike is very long and slack, it needs some time to understand when I need to start the nose turns (even flat turns). Once it is OK, the confidence comes and the smile appears  ;D

It feels like an "easy hardtail", not as smooth as a big full suspension MTB, not as stiff as a conventional hardtail. It feels like heaven to me.
I need some trial practice / manual / bunny up, to understand where is the "balance point" on this bike.

I used 80% of front and rear travel, suspension setting seems OK (no big jumps / compression on that ride)

Re: Small 26" or 27.5" Hardtail Frame custom is done,
nearly all parts have arrived,

decided to mount a 1x12 speed on the 26 frame,
think i have to change the crank set, chainline is to wide,
chain runs very diagonal even drops ob the front chainring,
not sure how to solve this, as there is not to much space to the frame

Re: ICAN P9 29ER ENDURO BUILD Almost 2 years have passed since building this up and it's been bulletproof. Many a huge crash and it's only got a few small scars.
Finished 15th then 16th overall in elite class for our state enduro series the last 2 years.

And a pic incase anybody is wondering how strong it is.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Sorry to see that... It must be saddening.
I would buy some UD carbon cloth and epoxy resin.
And wrap this unfortunate hit with them.

They will probably sell you a rear triangle if asked politely.
But I didn't ear they had a crash replacement policy, but who knows, you can and ask saying we are many here and it would give us some relief  8)

$440 shipped for a new rear triangle. Not bad.

But, I already have the carbon sheet and resin. Wing recommends repair as it is not a high stress area of the frame.

I have a similar puncture in my Flyxii top tube that I never fixed…might do them both at the same time.

Titan Cycles - Gravel frames In my pursue of getting a gravel frame, i have considered carbonda cfr696 and china made custom Ti (Waltly or Titan). What im looking for is probably a road bike with bigger tyre clearance (40c), and of course with tweaked geo to make it more stable off road. This sorta rule out cfr696 as it looks like a pure all out gravel frame. So i have decided on Titan cycles. Waltly was considered but they’re not taking orders so the decision to go with Titan came pretty easy.

I work with Eric on geometry details. I provided all info about the frame i have in mind  in my initial email and Eric did consider every little details into the drawing - i was quite pleased.

Geo was approved by me on 1jun2021 and i expect it to be completed and shipped by end of august.

I have decided on:
Sram force 22 mechanical (shifter, RD, FD, cassette, chain)
Praxis Alba X 48/32
Juintech GT-F
Fulcrum Rapid Red 5 wheels
WTB Riddler tyres
Shimano Deore spd pedals
Cane Creek 40 headset
Deda Zero2 stem and seatpost
Arundel stainless steel cages
Handlebar - undecided yet. Not sold on flared hbar if im honest. Maybe just 12deg of flare only?

Will post as and when theres updates!

Re: Stumpjumper clone
So the day of reckoning has come...

All the parts are here, except the wheels which should be ready to collect tomorrow.

Unfortunately, here in Oman nobody wanted to touch the frame to paint it and I'm not prepared to give it a go and screw it up. So, I'm going to build it as it is and then look to getting it painted once I've moved to Germany.

Here a couple of pics of the parts to hand. Will post the others once the wheels have arrived. For those interested in weight, I'll weigh all parts separately and then the whole bike once completed to give an approx measure for the the weight of incidentals like grease, tubeless liquid, tape etc.

I'll build the bike over the next week I guess as pretty busy at work and planning the move to Germany with the family. Will also be challenged as  I don't have a workshop stand so could be an interesting build....

Enjoy

Guy

Re: Forum name? For what it's worth, I live in South-East Asia and of Chinese descend. I was never offended by the name ChinerTown. And having been a member in this forum for several years now, I've seen a number of Chinese (both cyclists/enthusiasts and vendors/suppliers) joining this group but it is only now that I see someone considered the forum name as offensive for being racists.

Is this a product of the American woke generation of over complicating things and finding faults in pretty much everything? If so, we don't really need those BS here.
