Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress? Second what others have recommended
Uno alloy stems
RideNow TPU tubes (36g in use, 24g waiting to try)
YBN chains (all my bikes run waxed YBN chains, including run about ratbike)
Rhinowalk bags (gym, handlebar, top tube and seat roll in use, quality is excellent)
XXX copy bottle cages (no worse at scratching bottles than other brands and more reliable than other brands, ie don’t break or eject bottles)

To add
Uno alloy handlebars, both road and gravel and my flared gravel bar has seen abuse.
MZYRH flat pedals
Wellgo red cleats (exactly the same as Favero and Powertap cleats)
Zeray ZP-110 look keo compatible pedals
AOlikes headband, sits under your helmet and silicone gutter stops sweat getting in your eyes.
TPU folding flask - make your own gels 250ml worth and stick it in your back pocket
Generic HR bands for Garmin HR, a consumable product but lasts as long as gamins, cheaper and comes in a range of colours.
Generic alloy computer mount (Garmin or Wahoo) with GoPro mount underneath that mounts to your handlebar with hinge.
Deemount tubeless sealants injectors
Deemount side loading bottle cages
Cheji cycling kit (just need to be aware pricing fluctuates madly)

To avoid
Generic alloy computer mount that mounts to your stem with two bolts, cracked too many to recommend
Plastic computer mount with GoPro mount underneath that mounts to your handlebar, again cracked too many.
Replica/copies/cheap cycling kit, especially bibs with the multicoloured 5D pads.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Any recommendations on changing stem length or bar width make the front end more stable? I'm reading conflicting things about stem length online, some sources say a shorter stem makes for quicker handling, some say it delivers more stable steering  ???

I've been riding for like two years on 760 riser handlebar with 35mm 0 degree stem. But after one race this season with pretty gnarly climbs on soft terrain I decided to try a classic xc setup. So I put -20 60mm stem with 720 handlebar with no rise and did some trail rides. Honestly at first it was a bit weird but then I realize bike became much more stable, weight balance between wheels became more even and of course climbing became a lot easier. The downsides are pretty obvious: bunny hops are harder to do, low speed drops are a bit trickier but manageble, shifter/dropper switch likes to contact with top tube. And no, it's still hard for me to do an overbars lol. May be I should put a bigger brakes on the front and bulk my finger:)

Overall, I'm kinda happy with this setup. I'll definitely try it in a mountains but I still don't think it's a good idea but in the name of science you know. May be I'll put some -17 or so stem just for eliminate the possibility of shifter vs top tube battle.

Re: SLACK Gravel Frame To me, a SLACK gravel frame can be satisfied using a 29er hardtail frame set up as a gravel bike.   There are many more selections of frame geometries on 29er hardtail frames.

Re: What lube?
What chemical, if any, do you use to clean new chains ?

prob overkill but this works for me:

petrol bath
few baths of turps
couple of baths in metho
round in the ultrasonic cleaner
quick small metho bath just to check the condition of the metho to make sure it's completely clean/oil free/grease free
into the oven to dry
throw it onto a bent coat hanger, give a light dusting of ptfe in a bag and dump it into the wax pot

Not as intensive as PLA, but about two rounds of degreaser in the ultrasonic cleaner, a brush scrub down and dry pat down before dipping the chain into the slow cooker. My wife thinks I'm cooking something outside in the backyard! Lol

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Speaking of chainrings, any feedback on Pass Quest? The product pages look good, kinda pricier but quality seems better than average AliEx 'rings. In fact, I am trying to replace FSA rings on my Cannondale and these PQ rings are more expensive than FSA original. They are lighter than Cannondale's 10 arm OPI rings though.

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress?
I'm in need of new bottle cages so this interests me much...
do these carbon ones, recommended above, scratch the bottles? My only experience with carbon cages was one of those Bontrager XXX knock-offs, and while it held the bottle well it just left it all scratched, maybe because it was too tight, but I also believe it was a case of rough edges on the carbon.
I moved to Elite Cannibal bottle cages, the nylon one which is already pretty good at <30g each, but the price on these ones right now is just insane, at least here in Brazil.

Another one I was interested is this Xoss N2 one in nylon, seems pretty good price/weight relation
Maybe too late but I (and my GF) have these on our bikes. Maybe 14 in total? All have been flawless.
