Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame Another hint for everyone unhappy with the shock bolt. I really disliked the silver screws so I got myself a Titanium axle that came with black bolts but they were too small in diameter and I couldn't find ones that fit better.
I have now ordered the shock bolt kit for a YT Capra and while the axle itself is too long it comes with 2 bolts that can be used with the titanium axle. These bolts perfectly fit the openings on the 1001 rocker link.
Can be ordered here:

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame I had to order the full hardware kit from carbonda and I noticed that the bolt is now much better than the original bolt that came with the bike. In addition the headset now seems to fit properly and doesn't need spacers underneath the top cap.

Seems that some of the hardware shortfalls have now been addressed

Re: Carbonda Gravel Carbon frame CFR707 Yes you can use a zero-offset post, nothing wrong with that.  I will also add onto 2old2mould's reply that full suspension bikes sag more in the rear when you're going uphill, since the weight balance shifts rearward.  MTB seat tube angles are getting very steep because the terrain is often steep, which geometrically rotates the bike back and puts the saddle more rearward, and the additional rear suspension sag causes the saddle to shift rearward as well.  So it's not that 78deg STA is typically a good pedaling position, it's that 78deg STA ends up being more like 74, 75, 76deg when climbing.

I'll add my experience, that I also like the steep STA of my FM936.  I also have a CFR707, and run the saddle in the middle of the offset post.  It's STA is still steeper than a traditional road bike, but not near MTB steepness.  But for me, it works very well.  Seatposts are cheap though, nothing wrong with trying out both kinds.  You can also just slam the saddle all the way forward on the offset post, and even though it's not safe to run on rough stuff, it'll give you an idea of what a zero-offset post would feel like.

Re: Racework is peddling $hit.
What did you return?
I know Temu and Aliexpress have European hubs for example, so if you return stuff, sometimes they send you a prepaid label and it goes back to their sorting center. Usually sending stuff back to China is stupidly expensive.

I had bought a chain but they sent me a chainring. I'm guessing they had me return to the US hub but they didn't send me a prepaid label. The app told me to pay for shipping, enter a tracking number, and promised that I would get a chance to submit my receipt and get the return shipping cost refunded. I did as I was told and was never given an opportunity to enter my return shipping fee. So I ended up getting a refund on the item but I also ate the $10+ cost on return shipping. Super disappointed by this experience.

Re: Carbonda FM 1003 / Flybike FM 1266 180mm "Super Enduro"
It’s weird that ICAN would be able to sell a Flybike frame for less than Flybike’s own consumer direct operation (Carbonda). One has to wonder if it’s actually the same construction or just the same mold, potentially with a different mix of carbon or layup process. Is that price comparison for both frames shipped?

ICAN has two web sites and only one of them (not the one people normally buy from) lists the X17. I wonder if that has implications for availability at that price, like it’s only for wholesale customers or something.

I haven’t weighed my size large FM1003 frame separately but it can’t be all that much heavier than the 3300g claimed for a medium.

Thank you for the info on the weight. I was on their non-store site and emailed them directly for the price.  Carbonda has always been on the expensive side.  Having purchased many frames from Dengfu and light carbon, all have been well under what similar frames were from carbonda.  If ICAN has similar quality to either of these two I will be happy

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame Another addition to the FM1001 builds: a size M for my wife, with XT groupset, Cane Creek Helm fork, OneUp dropper, hand built wheels with Carbonbeam rims. 13.7kg ready to ride with heavy tires and a pretty heavy fork - not super light. Her birthday is in 2 weeks, I hope she will like the surprise :-D.

Re: Carbonda fork vibration I moved to the 50mm long Origin8 alloy compression plug and it solved the slipping issues on my 696 fork

Re: Carbonda FM 1003 / Flybike FM 1266 180mm "Super Enduro" Well I have placed the order for the ICAN X17.  I will be the guinea pig for this frame on here.  I went with a matte white paint job.  I was given this as a design view.  although this was gloss, hopefully they remember w hen it comes time to paint.  I will try and post some build photos as I go.  please ask any questions you have.

Re: Carbonda fork vibration I've put about 20 miles on it since tightening the top cap bolt and it feels solid now. I have an Origin8 expansion plug and will be replacing the Carbonda plug. Hopefully that keeps it solid.

Re: The Un-Official Guide To Fixing Headset Play - Please Add Your Advice Here Man this is deep. I am by no means a headset expert. But on my FM208, I loosen the stem bolts on the fork tube, then squeeze the fork and stem together with a long c-clamp (and wood block on the stem). That takes out all the vertical slack. Then I tighten the stem bolts. That has seemed to take out all the vertical slack. I admittedly did not put the bike together but I have taken the stem off a few times.
