Re: Elves Eglath Pro Build Nice, learn something new everyday, didn’t realize the names were from Tolkien.

Lol, Rey @bikebuildz took those photos with the Pillar decal while it was being finished.  He’s a beast btw, holds like 15 STRAVA KOMs’ in our area.

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame Sometimes they are increasing the price and getting ready for a "sale". I also saw the Magene Ultra Wheelset's price at $2000 but then it came back to $1200 or something.

I always deal with that kind of practice because we have a local Aliexpress on our country which is called Lazada (which is a subsidiary of Alibaba)

ICAN A40 Build Hello dear Chinertown community!

I became aware of this forum in June because I wanted a new road bike but was not prepared to pay the high prices of the mainstream.
I've learned a lot, discussed a lot and even shared a tip or two.
Now I would like to present you my first build, which I finalised the day before yesterday.
The first real ride will take place tomorrow. So far, it's only been a short adjustment ride of 15 km. Everything feels good and round.

In this thread (http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4254.msg46760.html#msg46760) I was looking for tips for my first build.
After a long search through the forum and various manufacturers, I came across the ICAN A40 (identical in construction to the Cinelli Pressure), which I finally ordered.

Here I was looking for the right wheels (http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4325.msg49032.html#msg49032 . A separate thread about the wheels can now be found here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4444.msg50685.html#msg50685 )

...and this is what has now emerged:

Specifications (all prices rounded up):
Frame incl. stem steering unit, headset, seatpost etc... (800 euros incl. tax and shipping).
+ custom paint (200 euros)
shifting group incl. crank... etc... (Ultegra DI2 2x11 - 8050/8070 version - except chain and cassette and junction box, bought separately on ebay classifieds (used) - total approx. 700 Euro - parts look like new)
Chain, cassette (11-30) and junction box (for in the handlebar plugs) NEW - 150 Euro
Wheels: Elite Edge Disc 65 mm (500 Euro incl. tax and shipping)
GP5000 tyres, 28 mm (I still had used ones at home)
Carbon saddle (26 Euro / AliExpress / https://de.aliexpress.com/item/32961988965.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.121.7a255c5fpus40b&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu)
Carbon bottle cage (14 Euro / AliExpress / https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005266348973.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.151.7a255c5fpus40b&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu )
Miscellaneous (hydraulic brake line, handlebar tape, internal line damping, cable ties, rim tape, Wahoo holder... etc. - all AliExpress) (approx. 50 Euro)

Currently still equipped with normal "heavy butyl hoses".
7.67 kg. Weight (without pedals, bottle cage and bike computer).
But will be changed to TPU tubes as soon as they arrive from the Far East.
Then we will be under 7.5 kg

Total price, even if I've forgotten something, under 2,500 euros (2,440 euros).

 8)

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame That's right. They're back with regular prices already. In the meantime my frame came today. I'm posting some pictures from the factory as I didn't make any by my own yet.

Flybike Asia FM906-D Build Hello Chinertown! Long time lerker first time poster. Anyway, I bought a frame directly from Flybike Asia (FBA) the other day and it showed up recently. I figured I'd post my build here.

I have a Carbonda CFR696 that I've been riding for about 3 years now and, as I understand it, is just a subsidiary of FBA; Anyway, the 696 has been an absolute tank with very little issues, so I decided to go on a climbing bike build journey. I reached out to FBA initially to buy direct and never received a response. About a year ago (Oct 21, 2022) I decided to try again and received a response from adam@hz-fb.cn. He was great to work with and very responsive. The final cost breakdown from FBA is as follows:

FRAME -     $590.00
HEADSET -   $15.00
SHIPPING - $190.00
PAYPAL -       $35.00
---------------------
FINAL $830.00

Timeline was:
Sept 5th - Invoice Paid
Sept 21st - Frame is finished and images are sent to me for confirmation
Sept 26th - Fame is shipped with Fedex
Sept 29th - Frame is delivered, packaging in good shape.

Details of frame:
Flybike Asia FM906-D (light weight version)
Size 56
Bottom Bracket BB86

Weights
Frame: 970 (derailleur hangers, faceplates, bottle cage bolts, etc)
Fork: 470

Photos coming up next

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame
Additional feedback on ride quality from the fully built bikes? I am interested in someone with also experience with higher priced Chinese frames (like Yishun or lightcarbon).

Also curious to see if they will have any sale for 11.11

I did another 105km ride on Sunday. I put my shifters a little more upright instead of the heavily inward tilted setup I had. It looks like this had improved the stability quite a bit. So I guess the 38cm handlebar paired with the 80mm stem and tilted shifters is not such a great combo with this frame...

I have had a problem with play on the rear derailleur hanger (with creaking as a result) but I think I managed to solve it. The outer part of the hanger has a threaded cylindrical part where the axle screws into. This cylinder fits trough the hole in the frame. I think this cylinder protrudes too far on the inside of the frame and it prevents the axle of the wheel to compress the derailleur hanger. It's hard to explain, but it looks like the axle of the wheel has to press the inner part of the derailleur hanger against the frame (so it is sandwiched between hub axle and frame) and in the original setup the axle of the wheel pressed against the cylindrical part of the outer part of the derailleur hanger so it did not press against the derailleur hanger.
I took the derailleur hanger apart and used some sanding paper to sand down the cylindrical part and now everything seems snug.

Chances are there will not be much of a sale on 11/11 but you could find a nice coupon for 40 USD or so... So if you are not in a hurry it might be interesting to wait...

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame Probably there will be at least 100$ coupons for these range of prices on the 11.11 sales.
Today, after 40 days, finally arrived my frameset (ordered without handlebar). No logo carbon black size L frame weighs 1023g. Great weight. Wheelset is also from AliExpress: Elitewheels Edge 45mm depth.
I'll build the bicycle in the next weeks, I still have to buy crankset, cassette, chain, handlebar tape and tyres. With SRAM Force AXS groupset (Red crankset and cassette) I hope to be in the sub 7.5kg category.
