Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
If you ever come across a discount 105 or Ultegra R7000/8000 short cage, these OSPWs are basically mid-cage designs. I'm not sure if they help or not, but I don't think they hurt either!
My Fuji roadie has R7000 and there is 40% discount on that model too. Got that one instead. Let's see how it works!

Update. The 40% off seems to have been taken down at least for R7000 model after I placed the order: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BR632QL6

Update on Lexon genius So about 6 total hours  8)of riding on it so far.
Climbs fantastic. Very nice bike to pedal for sure. Had to work out an annoying knock which seems as tough it was one of the bearings in the rear suspension link not being fully seated. Tolerance for the bearing aren’t great. Can hand press one of them out. Greased the hell out of them and quiet now… feels like i Gained 25 wtts just getting rid of the noise. I’ll probably have to use that compound stuff from Park to make last thought. Just now starting to trust it. So far so good. Sexy looking though  8) 8)

Onirii hydraulic flat mount brakes Does anyone have any experience with these?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004992742710.html

I'm considering them for a flat-bar gravel setup. They seem quite pricey, but unfortunately, the cheaper Shimano stuff is sold out everywhere here.

DIdn't see any conversation regarding Chinese tires. Has anyone tried these?

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804706173465.html

I sent message to two sellers asking if the 40c version was tubeless - one of them said no and other said yes. I am leaning towards no, since it doesn't mention them being tubeless anywhere in the listing but then many times those listings do have factual errors. Regardless, how bad can these be?

Everyone riding maxxis tires has been testing out Chinese tires for you.  hahaha.  but for real, as long as they are not imitations of something you should be good.  i have used Arisun and Innova and both have been great for the money.  Another one to look at is the American Classic tires.  those are pretty decent and are easy to get from Amazon.

Spcycle M016 hardtail frame builds I’ve got a couple builds to do this spring and decided on some Spcycle M016 frames. The top tube measurement seems a bit short but the stack and reach numbers look acceptable. The 67° head angle and the <440mm chainstay length should be a good mix for what I’m looking for.

Frame 1 is for me and is a 19” large in gloss pearl white. This will be replacing a Waltly titanium frame that I can’t get the seat post to stop creaking on. It’s unfortunate as I absolutely love the frame but I just can’t get past the creaking. It will be built up as a single speed and I hope to get it under 20 pounds. SRAM X0 cranks, Hulk bike rims with 27mm inner width, 350 hubs, Divine SL dropper, XTR Race brakes, and a Pike Ultimate will start the build. Depending on ride and final weight, I might for a SID Ultimate.

Frame 2 is for my daughter. It’s a 17” medium frame that’s painted matte black and matte pink. This will have a 2017 RS Revelation RLC fork set at 120mm and an 11 speed drivetrain that’s a mix of SLX and Deore. She grew out of her current 27.5 small frame so I’ll be taking most of the parts from that minus the obvious 29” wheel specific items.

I ordered the frames on February 19th and was told the frames would be painted on the 21st. So far, no more updates. To be honest though, I haven’t asked for any. I’ll update the thread as things move along.

Purchase / shipping timeline:
19 February - Ordered two painted frames
3 March - received tracking number
7 March - FedEx received the package and frames are in transit.
10 March - Frames delivered

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I am joining the club and went ahead and ordered one of these dropper bars to try out on a 29er hardtail build I am building.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I recently ordered a Magene QED P325 power meter, which seems to be their answer to the stiffness, inaccuracy, and shifting problems in the P325-CS (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804699484005.html)

I just took delivery today and made a quick unboxing video:

Hope you enjoy it!

Only thing I am waiting on now for the build is my Seka Exceed frameset, which apparently is in the country and just needs to make its way to me! Hopefully I can do a proper review on these cranks soon!

Re: Are AliEx/open mold carbon bikes common in your area?
I hardly ever see open mold or AliEx stuff around NE oklahoma.    I know one person with an older chinarello and that's it.   I'm the only I know who is tossing AliExpress parts on their bikes.  But, I don't go group rides and keep mostly to myself or one or two riding friends.

I went and raced the MidSouth100 over this past weekend.  Saw a few open mold bikes and a couple things with Sensah groupsets.  Not sure if the people realized their BoltCutter and Bombtrack were open molds though.   Anything and everything was in the crowd, it was a pretty wild experience passing someone riding a 3d printed Titanium bike then 2 minutes later someone comes by on a vintage steel, single speed.

I would actually get more excited if I see someone with an open mold/AliEx bike. I ride on the occasional group rides and it's always the same LBS purchased or direct-to-consumer brand bike. I'm more interested in the custom builds. Nothing irks me more when someone has a $6k plus bike and you can hear a poorly tuned derailleur! Even in a big city like LA, it's always the same name brand stuff everywhere I go.
