Re: My Dengfu R12 - First Impressions and Video The video on painting my Dengfu R12 is live. By no means was my technique professional, but I'm happy with the results of the paint and decals.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Interesting responses to the sizing so far!

I am 180cm / 5'11 tall with an inseam of 85cm or so.
I tested the original SL7 comp yesterday in 56cm variant and it fitted very well, so I am thinking about going ahead with the VBR 168 in 56 as well.
Only modification I have in mind will be a different straight handlebar (HB011) instead of the curved standard bar.

Before my testing I erroneously had thought that the VBR would come with a larger seatpost offset than the original, but that's not the case.

EDIT// Replacing the VBR168 seatpost with the original specialized seatpost does not work - they are not compatible and differ significantly in form - thanks to @renrew.

Re: My Dengfu R12 - First Impressions and Video
Looking forward for the 177 review.

Had two bikes from Velobuild and a MTB from Carbonda, have to say the quality finish from Carbonda was superior. In terms of quality which brand do you rate the highest so far?

I'm building the 177 as I type this LoL. So far there are tangible differences between my Dengfu R12 and VeloBuild 177:

1. The EPS latex molding that VeloBuild uses on the 177 makes a HUGE difference when routing cables though the frame. No rough edges for the cables to catch on.

2. Velobuild seems to have put more "thought and care" into frame accessibility for cable management.

3. Paint quality is good although no real world tests yet obviously. Granted I did paint my Dengfu at home, but the VeloBuild paint is obviously better.

4. Overall VeloBuild paid more attention to smaller details. Dealing with them felt more like they were actually bike enthusiasts rather than just a company wanting to sell me a generic frame.

My first impressions video on the 177 will be later this week. I'll keep everyone posted

Thank you for committing your time and money into showcasing these internet darling independent bike brands. I think we're headed to a new golden age in cycling where there is more transparency in bike technology and less dependence on bike retailers.

Groupset News Hey all, just wanted to share that L-TWOO has released their RX 2x12 road groupset.

I'm not sure if they've addressed the main criticisms surrounding their R9 2x11 road groupset (bad hoods, bad shifter clamp, etc.) but hey, an extra cog never hurt anyone!

Linked here are their two explainer videos detailing the shifters and derailleurs:

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Beautiful!
What is the size of your frame?
Did you get to weigh the frame, fork and seat post separately?
Thanks!

My first impressions video on the 177 will be uploaded to YouTube later this week.

I ordered a size M.
Weight including both derailleur hangers, plastic grommets, and seatpost clamp is 1044 grams.
When you remove the hardware and paint then yup the weight is sub 1000 grams. Makes sense for T1000 carbon fiber.

400mm Handlebars

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Is it safe to insert the seatpost until it bottoms out? Or should I cut the seatpost a few cm so that it doesn’t bottom out into the seat tube?

Is there a min/max insertion point?

Thanks kindly
