Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 1 Year review, just love the frame, specially when you get a proper stem/cap for the frame. The only thing that bothers me is the front thruaxle, why make that stupid endcap and not just make the inserts black/painted. The bike feels stiff, light and I fit just perfectly in the geometry.

It makes no sense to pay for a brand bike when you have this much quality on Velobuild.

Re: Unreadable Topic: "VeloBuild Headset Play Issue" Hi everyone - We wanted to share a quick update and let you know we have been listening to your feedback and have designed a new c ring. The new design has a small cut out that allows for a better grip on the steerer to take place once the headset is compressed.

For those that are having issues, please get in touch at info@velobuild.com so we can sort you out with a newly designed c ring. For those that are still using the original or second design without issue, please know you can continue using them without concern!

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
Qn from a newbie.
I have a 105 mechanical groupset on an old bike with rim brakes. Was looking at at buying a new chinese carbon frame, and transfer components on and just buy a wheelset giving me a new bike in effect for very little outlay.

Is the VB-R-218 my best option ?
I will be handing it to someone to do, will it be straightforward with the cabling given its mechanical
Has the headset issue been resolved with a new ring or is it still an issue. If it is, then this rules it out.

Thanks

Unless your old groupset has direct mount rim brakes, you would have to get new ones for this frame.
Is it straightforward? Well it depends on the skills of your mechanic. It is a fully internally routed frame. So installing a fully mechanical groupset on this and routing everything through the headset is obviously a bit of a nightmare job. Also, you will most likely have to drill the rear brake cable exit hole bigger on the top tube as it’s seemingly too small the way the frame is coming out of the mold. So no. it’s not straightforward. ;-)

There’s no issues that I know of with the compression ring on this frame. That would be the 168 and 177, I believe.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
I have gone back and forth for a while now and would you still recommend this bike frame? :)
I remember that you also had rim brakes. Which wheelset did you got for that? :)

Well, if you’re looking for something like this, as in an aero rim brake frame with internal routing and if you’re fine with owning a replica then yes, I can recommend it.
Make sure to read this thread and be prepared for the issues you might have. But I love riding this bike. And I particularly love the geometry and handling as well as the ergonomics of the bars. Also to me this bike represents peak rim brake, the end of an era. Just as Campy 12sp represents peak mechanical groupsets for me. That’s why I wanted to build one. But I would never be able to spend 6grand on a real Dogma F frame nor do I expect this VB frame to perform the same.

It’s just a nice bike to ride. And a fast one at that.
The wheels are fully custom. Built by me. Front hub is an old Roval that I polished. Rear hub is Novatec. Sapim CX Ray spokes. 60mm deep, 30mm wide, 23mm internal. Grooved brake track. About 1450g weight. I sourced the rims from an Aliexpress seller that I’ve had good experience with in the past.

Yoeleo R12 & SAT C50 PRO Wheels - Revamped and Refreshed So Yoeleo graciously sent me out their latest R12 frameset and 50mm Pro wheels to test and review. YouTube link is down below.

Frame - R12 (Refreshed/Revamped) - $1590
Size 56, Hemidium paint
Weight 1305g for the frame

Wheels - SAT C50|50 DB PRO - $899 usd
50mm depth, 27mm external, 21mm internal
YOELEO 230 SP Ratchet System Hub 52T (basically DT Swiss)

Initial Thoughts:
The packaging, presentation, and included hardware for the frameset is fantastic. Equally as good as when I purchased my Allez Sprint. UCI-approved (if that's important), flawless paint job, and no imperfections around the exposed carbon areas. No question the frame is on par with Winspace visually.

The Elephant in the Room - Customer Service
I've had meetings with Yoeleo and their marketing team where I told them I would not review or endorse their products moving forward until they resolve customer service issues for Western customers. Like SEKA, it seems for a while that Yeoleo were giving preferential treatment to their domestic audience. I've had personal friends of mine get burned by Yoeleo, after they made purchases solely from my video reviews. Back in 2021-early 2022 Yoeleo were quoting people 1 month for fulfillments, which ended in customers doing CC chargebacks after 8-9 months of no frame. The good news is I've spoken to recent customers who tell me Yoeleo is back to their days of good service as they were back in 2020 when I first built my R9. Fast to respond to customers and they actually have a full stock of the R12s.

$1590 isn't cheap, but you're getting Winspace-tier perceived quality. And their latest G21 gravel bike is freakin awesome. I'll report back my bike build progresses. I have to finish building this before my Tan Tan x38 frame arrives

Re: dcrf26 frame - Scott Foil? Just received UPS tracking for my frame and handlebars. Strangely fast since TanTan originally quoted me 15–20 days for production and it’s only been exactly 7 days since invoice. Maybe they had a spare.

Re: dcrf26 frame - Scott Foil? Quick dry run photo before I start painting and building this week. With both my saddle height and handlebar drop setup, I'd say it looks pretty aerooooo.

I'm also testing those new Magene EXAR DB508 Ultra wheels. 58mm rear 50mm front, carbon spokes, 36t DT-Swiss style hub. Weight came in at 1366g. 30mm external, 23mm internal.

Re: dcrf26 frame - Scott Foil? Photo #1 - Outboard T47 bottom bracket. This why the inboard version is needed. The crank spindle doesn't clear the frame. Also shown is the proper bottom bracket tool from Park Tool

Photo #2 - Showing the bolt washers required to properly tighten the caliper.

Photo #3 - Here is a fork comparison from a different frame (Dengfu R12). As you can see, the caliper mounts protrude further out than on the TanTan x38 in order to accommodate a standard size front caliper bolt. This is why extra washers or shorter bolt is needed.

Photo #4 - Bike is almost finished. Looks pretty legit, I reckon the final weight without pedals/power meter/computer will be somewhere around 7.4kg.
