Re: Another Aethos clone coming soon UDH/T47 I like that you make contacts with Chinese forum users, sounds very useful, and i saw your comments about the Chinese market also feeling that LTWOO is unreliable and gives no F :)
I have 2 friends on (real) Aethos frames. They're hopelessly slow on the flat, and smoke me like i'm standing still uphill. Which is to say, they'd benefit from being on aero machines, which is the case for virtually 100% of people. This is a proven slow design, physically can't be that stiff given the little meat around the BB, and comfort would be better achieved with dropped seat stays. I know everyone likes a light bike, but just a reminder for the casual reader of this forum that unless you're really going very slow uphill, 100% of the rest of the time, a rider benefits from a more aero optimized frame. It's not w/o reason that Specialized teams ride SL8 and not Aethos (and the SL8 isn't even THAT aero). Now for reasons i dont get, the Aethos has a cult following, but from experience, there's a lot of value in having a bike that will at all times save you a few watts, especially when you're doing a long loop, there's headwind on the way back, you're out of food, riding alone, it's flat, and you question your life choices :p
And a note on headwind. If you're going 25kmh into a strong headwind, your frame is fighting air at 40+kmh, and wind resistance goes up by the cube of speed, so it looks (and feels) pretty much exponential. Aero does matter, it's not a conspiracy to sell bikes. And no, i'm not saying everybody should be riding system six bikes in the mountains.

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion
Last question! Any reason to not get 5mm spokes other than a marginal loss of stiffness?

I was torn between the 5mm and the narrower ones, same cost same weight. The conclusion I came to is they look "cool" so ordered them.

Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes?
Hi,
I have read back through the thread but cannot immdeiately see that any buyers have set up a 1x groupsent on the frame. Ideally, i would be using the antiipated Force 1x13 XPLR due to be announed shortly. Though that probably means UDH.
cheers
Bob

Tan Tan have just release a new frame looks similar to the X68
Has UDH
The X70 $469usd

Then you must have overlooked my built (page 52 and 58). I built it with Wheeltop shifting and Ekar cassette, which makes 1-by 13-speed systes possible without needing UDH and at a much lower pricepoint (which might change when 13-speed force is available).

The SP-R088 is an alternative with UDH. We have both frames "in the family". Both are nice and light.

There's no reason for them to be transparent with you about the origins of a frameset.

That's a dystopian view of the world. For clarity, i disagree.

I've attached the spreadsheet anyway in case it's useful for anyone — hopefully it opens fine.
I could potentially save another ~100g by switching to an 11–34T ZTTO cassette.
I can get the same rims built with the H-Works SR270 hub, bringing the total to 1060g ±20g — for $635 USD including taxes and delivery, which is a great price. This setup has a 90kg rider weight limit.

Thx for the xls. Me likey xls.
ZTTO cassette: we (several of us) run the ZTTO full steel CNC machined ones, most recently they weigh 182g or so, I can recommend them, although we run ltwoo and not shimano. But the DA price is just silly, especially for a consumable. We stopped buying the half steel half alu ones, because the alu cogs end up slipping after 5000km or so, and it's sketchy AF (if you race you'll crash). Likewise, we run cheap chains because they wear out.
Where can you get such wheels at such price? 90kg rider weight limit, i wouldn't want to risk it, but i'm curious.
