Axs compatibility and Chinese components
I have tried to find good information on this subject all over and I am looking for real world experience here, or informed takes. The context of my inquiry is trying to minimally add axs to an existing 1x cross bike and keep, most importantly, my crank based PM (5 bolt 110 bcd spider) as well as other components. The axs road components changed chain roller diameter size and it recommend everything be axs, but you know, this forum. Some comments on the XDR ztto and goldix cassettes suggest they work best with standard 12 speed chains (eagle, kmc, ybn 12s) and do not work well with sram flattop. What is performance like with sram axs road cassette and non flat top chain? KMC claims their new 12s chain is compatible across sram road axs and shimano. How is that possible given the sram roller size change? Is it best to keep flattop chain with sram axs cassette and just run an old 1x chainring and deal with whatever accelerated wear there may be on the chainring? I have had good experience with cheap 1x rings and don't mind changing them out more frequently to keep my crankset and pm With regards to chainrings, what is performance like with a standard 1x narrow wide ring with non flattop chain? again I want to keep 5 bolt spider PM. Thanks for any input September 26, 2024, 08:43:20 AM |

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 2025 new carbon crankset
What is the interface to the spider? Easton style. There might be patent problem on 3 bolts design that is why we don't do bolts version. January 17, 2025, 06:36:16 AM |

New VeloBuild gravel race frame in the works...
We're working on a new gravel frame that will be race oriented, but we also want it to be practical and meet the needs of those riding in flannel shirts or pro-mutting to work. Give us your thoughts on what features you would like to see incorporated and if the stars line up maybe we can make it happen! Thank you in advance for all your feedback. Re: New VeloBuild gravel race frame in the works...
Nice! 1. T47 or BSA bottom bracket 2. Clearance for 50-53c tires 3. Traditional round seatpost. Option for 0 and 20mm setback 4. UDH 5. Option to route hydraulic cables externally. Through the side of the fork and an entry point though the downtube. 6. Mounts for fenders 7. FSA headset standard 8. Two independent bolts saddle clamp design 9. Bottom bracket height between that of a traditional gravel frame and CX frame. 10. Included hardware to run cables through the headset top cap port, similar to FSA No.69 system. Re: New VeloBuild gravel race frame in the works...
- internal storage for tools. doesnt need to be wide (as long can fit electric pump at max) but preferably long. - boss mount holes on underside of downtube (ala orbea) /maybe im thinking 'unbound' long distance kinda race February 17, 2025, 09:56:44 PM |

Re: Spcycle New Mold G068 Carbon Gravel Frame
I ordered a G058 frameset from spcycle aliexpress store last spring, I wait 2 weeks to prepare and paint the frame and about other 2 weeks to delivery in Italy by WXY and DPD courrier.

Re: Wheeltop EDS GeX
So I bit the bullet and bought a new shimano cassette and chain and within an hour I had it pretty much 95% dialled in.Hopefully just some on the road adjustments to be made. I was trying to use a campagnolo chorus and cassette with zero joy! Inadvertently I found a glitch that was probably the initial source of my woes. Either my phone or the app was disconnecting from the rd but any adjustments that were made in the app were saved BUT not sent to the mech. So when I kept making adjustments and nothing happening then the app reconnects and all the adjustments get sent and the rd is all over the place. Now it could be my phone as well but anyone who is having an equally frustrating time...it may be worth checking. I am on Android! February 26, 2025, 10:37:30 AM |

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 2025 new carbon crankset
The main reason to wait for 24mm is for people with a BB86 frame, since a 29mm DUB crank (made of aluminium) requires the use of smaller bearings. 24mm needs steel or titanium - aluminium has a risk of shearing at those smaller diameters. Weight is roughly the same or slightly in favour of the aluminium cranks normally. If you have any other type of frame you might as well use the 29mm version. Chinese PM options are XCadey or Sigeyi, they use the Easton interface. Best Chinese chainring options are Stone or Pass Quest. Lexon is another option. February 28, 2025, 02:59:24 AM |

Re: Wheeltop EDS GeX
On taobao the groupset with the current gen brakes is 2600 yuan which equals 330€. Using a shipping agent i could probably get it to germany for a lot less than 400€ making it a good deal. Does anybody know if it's possible to activate a unit that's sold on the chinese market with a european phone or if these units are region locked? In the name of science: I actually did it: I ordered the groupset from taobao to the warehouse of my shipping agent. So far i paid 2599 yuan + 3% international card fee so 2677 yuan which equals around 340€. There's usually also a 1,8% fee from my credit card to convert the yuan to euro. So the total price should come out to 2725 yuan which is 345€. I will let you know about the shipping price from my shipping agent to germany. I'm pretty optimistic that it will come out to less than 400€ including import taxes etc. For comparison: From wheeltop website it's 599€ and from aliexpress it's at least 470€ without any taxes paid, so at least 500€ probably more. If everything goes right this is a good deal. If it doesn't work out like i imagine it might have been a really stupid idea. Wish me luck. March 11, 2025, 04:10:29 PM |

Re: Compatibility questions on drivetrain (Ali Cassette, Wheeltop GeX and Flattop)
Ideally, the cassette should match the chain. Where this is not particularly helpful is that none of the XDR cassette manufacturers actually specify which chain their cassettes are designed to work with.
