The dvo topaz 2 shock with piggy back  uses 1.6 inches of space from the trunnion bolt.   If this frame has less, the dvo wont fit. The frame will block the shock rebound dial.

I am asking as i have a topaz and was thinking if i can use this for this frame in the future.

So if you can take another measurement, it be graet

Well it is not that clear as usual when you try to know where frames are really coming from.
@Sissypants who seems living there or well connected, said something like Carbonda had a good engineering team, that they were designing/making molds, etc.

As long as they provide great frames and keep their excellent service, we don't really need a nice web site 8)
Flybike's site is quite impressive though.

Softail titanium MTB 29/27.5+ (all mountain - bikepacking) Hello,


Who I am :
Just over 30 yo MTB rider, 177cm tall, 65 kg, I live in the French Alps.
I practiced XC, trial and dirt as a kid. I did practice pure enduro around 25 yo, but now I don't want to ride that hard anymore  :o
I mostly ride all mountain and bikepacking MTB trips. I want to climb hard, enjoy views/landscapes, have fun while downhill  8)

Few weeks ago, I had a Specialized Enduro + Orbea Alma + NS Bikes Eccentric + road bike + pumptrack bike + a titanium custom hardtail MTB with Pinion gearbox (commute / travel).


The project
Sell all my bikes except the Pinion bike, and build a new all mountain / bikepacking MTB.
I wanted :
  • light bike
  • pretty "cheap"
  • a bit of rear travel but not as much as the Specialized Enduro
  • careless suspension
  • aggressive / modern geometry
  • enough room to mount DIY bikepacking gears, espacially a framebag

I thought that a "down country" bike would be a solution. Carbonda FM936.  :-*
Then i changed my mind for a pure all mountain FM1001.
Then I hesitated for a 160mm FS947.
Then an AM831 (SC hightower like).
Every of them have pros and cons and the cons won every time...

Then I thought a custom titanium hartdail with 180mm front fork (based on Chromag Doctahawk), would probably be amazing.
But still no rear travel...

I finally make a decision and decided to order a custom softail titanium bike.
Asked walty, xacd and titan products. Titan is the one I chose.


Geometry
Here is the geometry.
160mm fork, 80mm rear travel.
Massive 505mm reach and 77° STA 63° HTA 430 chainstay (63° seems crazy but it is almost a hardtail, HTA should be around 64,5 once sagged).
20mm stem (integrated bar)
Compatible max 29x2.5 and 27.5x3.0.




Parts
Here is the detail bike check (almost everything is already at home)
Goal : 11,5 kg maximum. Fingers crossed...

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Attaching a picture of my finished build. This frame size is "S".
Only the bottom cage is missing and I haven ridden it yet, apart up and down the street to tune suspension and saddle height.

Some interesting parts of my build:
  • assembling the lower pin of the rear shock was challenging, as I could not find any position of the rear triangle that gave me enough clearance to remove the bolt. I ended up unscrewing the top hinge form the frame (removing the 2 bolts just under the saddle). Not sure if that was the best choice because repositioning the hinge wasn't easy, but it worked
  • my mounting hardware for the shock was M8x30 and M8x22.199. The x30 (top) fit perfectly, the x22.199 was loose: i measured 22.86mm for the opening. Rather than ordering a new one, I 3d printed 2 spacers, which seem to work well
  • My shock is a Fox dpx2. It fits pretty well, but the access to the air valve is tight, I can barely connect my pump to the valve.
  • I used a Fox36 fork, that barely clears the frame, after using the 0.5 degree angle spacer from Reverse, which is about 10mm tall. BTW, jham asked about installing the angle spacer: it is an "interference fit", just like a standard crown race. I used a piece of PVC pipe with id of about 1.5" to push it down, with the help of a rubber mallet

As for my component list, most of them are reused form other builds or both 2nd hand:
  • fork: Fox36 w/ GRIP2 damper. The damper adjustments barely clear the frame even after adding the angle spacer
  • rear shock: Fox dpx2, see my comments above for the mounting hardware
  • drivetrain: SRAM Eagle GX, with SRAM DUB 89/92 pressfit bottom bracket
  • wheelset: Lightcarbon 350MB-AD938-Race, shared with my other frame
  • breakset: Shimano M8200, which I got new at a good price form a seller on Pinkbike. The rotors are generic from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082NVF3TD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
  • dropper post: and old Tranzx 31.6x140. I pushed it all the way down the downtube.. and it still might be too high, I need to double check it, but I have not measured the insertion depth
  • saddle: a SDG Radar.. I have no idea of how good or comfortable it is, I got it at a discount because my other SGB Bel Air failed, but I have to say that I like a lot my WTB Volt on the other bike
  • stem and Carbon Handlebar: inexpensive from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0916YJ81R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JPF4T71/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
  • headset and Sitclamp: I used the one that came with the frame. The frame also came with 4 cable hole plugs, for the larger holes by the bottom of the downtube. They are rubber, not easy to install. Not sure if they will hold
  • missing: chainstay (and maybe downtube) protection. I have something that might work, but I haven't tried to install it yet.

Kind of :), but looks nice. I am also thinking about the usual foil. I have an original one on my previous bike and it protects very well, and it is practically invisible. Look at pictures.
