27.5, full suspension XC "race" geometry options?
Has anyone seen any good options for a carbon or aluminum XC race frame that supports 27.5 wheels, 100-ishmm suspension travel front and rear? Had the opportunity to ride a short track event this past weekend in back to back events on my 2014 Stumpjumper 27.5 w/ 150mm travel and my Kona Rove gravel bike and even with the handful of technical uphills and downhills I was quicker on the Kona although not as comfortable. Confirmed my suspicions that the Stumpy (which was built for enduro racing by the original owner) is complete overkill for the majority of riding I do. I'm not hucking any big jumps or barreling down long rocky hills. Most of the trails around here are pretty smooth or so slow/techy that I don't use that much suspension. Hoping to find something I can mount most of the existing bits onto. The fork can be shortened, I don't think the shocks yoke and length can be changed though. I rode a more modern slack designed full suspension trail bike and really didn't like how it handled. Super biased for descents and didn't give much confidence in the turns. I think something sharper handling with less travel is the ticket for me. January 23, 2023, 03:24:13 PM |

Re: Consensus on replica frames ??
I bought it from Aliexpress. You can just type fasterway o2. The quality much much better than Fasterway Ostro. I think the seller account is taiwanbikestore or frame if not mistaken. I searched "fasterway o2" on Ali Express, and got a bunch of penis pumps and vibrators in my results ![]() November 26, 2023, 07:48:22 PM |

Re: Tavelo Aero Frame
Very fair point about the current pricing of both Winspace and Tavelo. But if they are both in fact sourced by Adapt, it's a shame we don't see more bike builds and conversations on their frames on this forum. Especially if we are to assume the quality/fit finish is nearly the same if true. The question becomes: 1. Does Adapt not (easily) offer up B2C sales? 2. Are people generally just not interested in their frames? If it's the latter then it's odd to use the Winspace open-mold talking point if people just aren't interested in Adapt's offerings to begin with. May 04, 2024, 07:37:16 PM |

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
Yo how patty welcome boys and girls, love your videos man I’m a subscriber by the way. Ayyyye thanks for the support! My Velobuild bikes and the support of the members here have a been a tremendous help for the channel. I was able to fix the creak by doing two things: 1. Increased the torque of the seatpost clamp from 6nm to about 7.5nm 2. I changed saddles. The included saddle rail clamps to accommodate 7x9 saddles are flawed. VeloBuild is aware. Using the 7x7 clamps instead along with 7x7 metal rail saddle fixed the issue. Painting on the VB 268 like $50-$80 extra. If you can get the Winspace T1500 for $1000 then it's worth it. Otherwise yeah use the money for some nice wheels. I really love the Magene Exar Ultra/Dark wheels at the price point. August 25, 2024, 06:38:20 PM |

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
I always use an aftermarket expander plug on all my budget framesets. The included ones have a tendency to be troublesome. Neco Headset Expander and Top Cap from Amazon in a large length works wonders. Not just to prevent expander plug slipping, but for more tension area inside of the steer tube for the steerer bolts to tighten against. The expander plug really should extend beyond the length of the bottom two steerer bolts. Also inspect to ensure the initial setup of the expander plug is recessed around 4-6mm below the stem/steerer before installing the top cap. It could be a case of not enough clearance for proper top cap preload. August 26, 2024, 10:37:26 AM |

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion
Quite frankly I have nothing negative to report or criticize. Easily the lightest and best set of wheels I've used from a value perspective. Mother nature gave me one single day today above freezing, and I was able to get in a 3 hour ride Z2 ride with some intervals mixed in. GP5000 STR 32c. Running actual tubeless to avoid another audience upheaval on my YouTube. Tires measure 34mm at the rim. 55 PSI Video drops next week. January 17, 2025, 07:50:01 PM |

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion
It seems like xiamencarbonspeed is gaining some heavy traction. Even on a german forum more people are looking into them and are buying wheelsets. I hope xiamencarbonspeed can keep up their good quality to price ratio. Price hike upcoming with the increased demand? Thanks for your attention and feedback. We are on Chinese Lunar new year holiday now, don't worry, as I said in my first post, we will keep up our quality products and service as over the years, I believe our top grade quality products are still most cost-effective, the pricing should be very reasonable. SL 8 clone
As there is a topic on the SL 8 from Tantan but many people are talking about other sellers, I decided (as suggested by Serge) to create another topic which will allow us to talk about other sellers. For my part, I bought the frame in size 54 from CarbonCycleGear store on Aliexpress: https://fr.aliexpress.com/store/1103601241 The frame weighs 869g (white paint included) and the fork 355g. Communication with the seller is really perfect. He answers all questions even after receiving the frame. I haven't been able to ride the bike yet but the quality looks really excellent as shown in the photos. If you want other photos, don't hesitate to ask. In short, there are certainly plenty of good sellers (and many less good ones) but I highly recommend this one. I will keep you informed of the progress of the bike construction. Feel free to ask anything. DIsclaimer : I am not a expert of carbon nor a pro rider ![]() February 03, 2025, 12:12:46 PM |
