Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
What's the general feeling towards ltwoo erx in spring 2024? I've been tempted to pull the trigger on a number of occasions but too many of the YT influencers saying it's not a finished product, has inherent problems etc ( maybe ltwoo aren't paying them enough to endorse). Aliexpress have a sale this week, never been a better time to buy however I value reliability over anything.
If you value reliability over ANYTHING, then buy Shimano.
YouTubers often receive early units and they serve as beta testers. Bad strategy? These YouTubers had the battery with tabs and not springs, which caused most of the concerns.
Your concern over shilling is also warranted. Anybody who has a discount code on anything has an interest in you spending more, mathematically. And so if you don't see a discount code on l-twoo, they don't stand to benefit, which is worse. If they don't make money from it but then users report problems, then they just shit themselves in the foot twice.
I'm very happy with my 5 er9, but I kind of want them to fail to see what happens. I enjoy the tinkering and the grind of making my own bike infinitely more than buying off the shelf pre packaged branded stuff. Shimano for me is a patent troll and SRAM is the worst assemble of engineers in recent bike history, so I will get out of my way to try alternatives.
I still use a Shimano group on an old bike. That stuff will never die. You probably should buy Shimano if your key concern is reliability. L-twoo electric groups didn't exist a year ago. Nobody can tell you how they age long term. They may age like fine wine, they may age like Lindsay Lohan. Do you want modern day Lindsay Lohan on your bike?

Re: Velobuild GF-002 convert to normal handlebar I used the FIRST Components C522 headset. If your groupset is Di2, I would suggest the C522A-3, and if your groupset is mechanical, I would suggest the C522A or C522A-1.

Re: Recommendations for Gravel Frame & Wheels I always like to throw a wrench into the gears of peoples planning.    If your usage for the bike is casual or longer distance riding on gravel and less time will be spent on pavement, and flat bars may be a reality, take a look at 29er hardtails.

Reasons.
1.  There are 3 to 4 carbon hardtail frames available through Aliexpress that weight less than 1000grams and have proven to be very durable.*
2.  Instead of being forced into a gravel frame geometry where the selection for short travel forks with 40 to 50mm of travel makes you have to pay a premium for a fork that really doesn't provide much travel/impact relief, you can spend less money on a better Fox or Rockshox 100mm or 120mm travel fork that weighs the same and is much more tunable.
3   You can pick up a 29er carbon fork for around $100 and you can quickly swap out the suspension for the carbon fork, if you start riding more on pavement than trails.
4  Most hardtails will fit larger tires than most gravel bikes.  You can always run narrower tires.
5. Since hardtails have a slacker head tube angle, they are more stable and comfortable to ride.

Negatives:
- The frame bottom bracket height sits higher than a typical gravel frame.  Therefore your CG is a bit higher
- Most hardtails use Boots 148 rear hubs.  If you have other gravel bikes, they probably use 142 rear hubs, so your other wheels can't be we swapped onto this bike.
- The crank Q factor is wider than on most gravel bikes.
- Most hardtails are 1X versus gravel bikes being 2X.  Many like the simplicity of only having to shift a rear derailleur.  (A 1 X 12 drive saves the weight of a front derailleur.)
