I've built up the Seaboard GR-02. I really like it, there is a build thread in the metal frame section of the forum. Cable routing is partially internal.

I also have a Seaboard GR02 as my commuter. The geometry is a bit more road than gravel and the tire clearance is listed as 42 mm. However, mine was really well made and went together with no issues at all. There's a decent selections of colors too.

I'm building up a GR-02 at the moment for a friend - I'll make a full post in the metal frames forum section when the build is done in the next few days, but I can say that the frame is very well made, with neat welds, good tolerances, and everything's aligned. It was also surprisingly light! Unless there's serious issues with its ride quality or handling - not likely given the experiences of others here - I can definitely recommend it.

I have this frame and bought it for similar fit reasons. It isn't THAT crazily high stack in reality. I replaced most of the many, many bolts on the frame with nylon blanks, but I do like the fact I can run Terra Nova 45s with full metal mudguards on it. There are some toe-overlap issues with this set up, but on this kind of bike it isn't really an issue in my book. Built up as in the photo it is 8kg on the nose. I would definitely recommend it.

I've been eyeballing this alloy gravel frameset for awhile. It has internal cabling, but should be easy with an alloy frameset. 27.2mm seat post and a fork that will allow 180mm disc rotors without an adapter. This might seem minor, but once you go 180mm on gravel, you won't go back! Though I'd wait for an AliEx sale for maximum savings to get it closer to the $300 USD mark. I'd also ask for a spare derailleur hanger if possible. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807287923022.html Other options are the Seaboard, Timetry, IZip and Sodce alloy gravel framesets which should be of similar pricing with their own features. The cheapest carbon gravel options would be the Flyxii frameset FE-02 or FE-03. Again, timing your purchase during a coupon sale should get you close to your price point. After that prices go up. Though for about $400 USD (during a sale) the Ceccotti RF25 is an amazing value and worth the extra cost over the other options. That's what I went with when I upgraded last month.

Not many options in that price range. Not many options in that price range. That Mosso frame has an alloy fork and the Speedzone has ugly welds!  Sometimes going too cheap isn't worth it when you can spend a little extra to get more refinement. In the long run it'll make the build experience easier. January 10, 2025, 01:03:50 PM |
