Re: Affordable lightweight frameset (not Winspace SLC 3) Think hard about bigrock. Hard riding, very stiff. Five stars. All of the stars.

Re: Power meter suggestions for T47bb bike
This is probably not going to be a popular opinion on this forum, but I would buy a used Quarq.  I have had two Chinese power meters, one stopped reading cadence (no power without cadence) and the other broke during a rainy 600k.  The Magene seems to have good reviews and seems like an overall solid product, but I have 3 Quarqs, and I purchased each one used for less than the price of a new Magene.  Between my Quarqs, I have over 20,000 miles and have had zero issues.  2 of them are currently on T47x85.5 bikes-- no issues there either.
My general policy is go Chinese for everything non-electronic/shifting related. I dont know how many miles I put on my Quarq but it has also been bulletproof.

Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201
As an update for this situation: first I received a proposal for a $50 discount if I accepted the frame with the terrible paint job, which is hilarious considering I paid 8x more for the specific custom paint, so I refused.

So the conclusion: since I still want the paint I requested and the Chinese holidays are coming soon, they will restart production again, but now the frame won't get shipped until half of March.
Keep in mind I paid at the end of November...

Also apparently they now do not paint the plastic lid/cover anymore, since they can't guarantee it will close correctly.
Kinda weird to be honest, but I accepted to get the lid in black now (initially I asked and got an OK for a painted lid).
I didn't want to overcomplicate things, since they're already struggling with basic requests.

I'm kinda mad cause I had all the parts coming in now and was ready to build it up for the first race at the very beginning of March, but now I'll have to wait almost 3 months just to start building it....

At this point I just hope they finally understood what I actually requested.

For the other people that have already asked Tantan for a paint: you need to talk to them like you would with toddlers or a bot like chatGPT.

Basically you have to make sure they get all the instructions point by point, because if there's anything you've left for granted, there's a chance they might fuck it up unfortunately.

Ah that sucks big time.

Tbh, I would ask for a raw carbon frame and do the paint at a local paintshop.

Re: New Gravel Frame Ican Graro No one in their right mind would consider 3 mm of clearance enough. That is borderline for a pure road bike!

A little bit of flex in wheel or frame, a wheel that is slighly out of true, and/or a little bit of dirt and your tire will easily eat away the carbon. And let's not talk about mud...

My alloy gravel bike is missing a good bit of paint on the chainstays after two seasons of autumn/winter rides, and that is with 5-6 mm of clearance both sides.

Really, the Specialized Tracer posted above is realistically already borderline. There is no "room to spare". If you want to use MTB-like tires, just buy a frame suitable for those.

Re: Another Aethos clone coming soon UDH/T47 What annoys me is that there are a bunch of SL8 and Aethos clones, but no one is making a Crux style frameset. That's the one I actually want.

Trusting your life to some random aliexpress seller pushing 800g frames is a gamble i don't feel comfortable taking. Imagine it breaks from under you. While you heal from your wounds and remortgage your house to pay for the medical bills, you're like "maybe i should have bought a frame that was 100g heavier, maybe it wouldn't have snapped".
Then again, i'm over 80kg, so i'm not the target audience.
But it's still scary to me. You just dont know who you're buying from.

Brother, I live in America! Stepping out my front door is already a gamble everyday! Bike frames from AliEx are actually the least of my worries!  ;D
