Re: Cannondale SystemSix ‘inspired’ Frame
hello Serge,
what frame is your Tractor (i love it LOL) I really like frames with that T-tail. So looking for something like SystemSix or Ostro VAM.

Hello, Long teng 268. I love that bike. I get quite a few PMs asking me about it. I bought 2, built both, alongside 2 winow. Months before that, i built 4 VB frames. And after that, i built a grevil clone from Xiamen carbon speed (XCS, Peter on the forum). I've been recommending LT & XCS over the others. Sample size: 9.
What i recently wrote to someone who was asking was to keep in mind that the market changes a lot. It was my choice when i ordered last summer (2023), but it's quite an old frame now, and we're late 2024. Please dont ask me what i'd buy today, i'm not sure. But:
- consider the long teng 301, as it's from the same factory, but more recent. I have mixed feelings about it myself (38C clearance and chonky down tube, especially).
- consider the  SP Cycle 65 / 53 because they didnt exist when i ordered mine, and the specs list is interesting.

Either way, i'm super happy with my 268, so if you were to buy one, i doubt you'd regret it, but it doesnt mean it's the best frame, especially owing to its age.
In fact... i feel that if they were to update the layup, use T1000 or something along those lines, and charge more for it, it might be the best aero open mould frame out there, because the only sub optimal thing as far as i'm concerned is that it's not a light frame by 2024 standards (1160g with metal bits (no TA) in 54 matte, 30g more in gloss).

Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM Local buddy of mine. Cat 1 racer. I've him seen race against some of the best pro teams in the country during our locally held events. He's strong as heck.

So I've been admiring his Factor Ostro all summer, as I'm considering buying one to test against my SL8, only for him to confess this morning at the coffee shop that his frame is....fake.

Not a failed QC Ostro but an unauthorized copy. Here's what he told me:

1. Can't remember the full name, but he bought it from a place called Taiwan Carbon...something. $1000 USD
2. His frame is about 300g heavier than the real version.
3. The supplied hardware isn't an exact fit. It required some facing and sanding.
4. He swapped the fake Black Inc cockpit for a real version. He said the fake was too flexy.
5. The carbon layup isn't as tidy as the real version.
6. Legit groupset, wheels, and cockpit. All the vital contact points if you ask me...

I would get roasted if I reviewed a fake Ostro, but call me very intrigued. To me the extra frame weight is simply an insurance policy to withstand the daily abuse of riding. Makes sense to me. Buying an 800g fake anything sounds like trouble...

When I picked up the bike to inspect it indeed felt pretty heavy. But I've also held up a real Ostro (the 2024 version) and that's also heavy even with a full Sram Red groupset. However, the fake felt very solid and study. He said it has served him very well this race season.

Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM
I'm not sure how Youtube / Factor would react to your video, because i think in our jurisdictions the mere possession of a fake is illegal, so technically you might be committing a felony by reviewing it. Then there's the reputation / brand IP, and Factor might come raining down on you.
I definitely would inquire before doing the video.
That said, i'd love to see that video!

This is part of a larger issue I have too. One of my close buddies here just recently open his own bike shop, and is now an auth dealer for Factor. He's hinted to me about working out a deal on pricing to help promote the shop. So I can't imagine the strain it would put our business relationship if:

- I bought a real Ostro from a competing dealer.
- Me parading around with a fake Ostro.

This all sounds like a threesome gone terribly wrong!

Re: SL8 Replica Build
I am curious to understand more about this EPS vs bladder thing. I understand the former is the state of the art technology now. I understand it provides a better and more uniform compression which likely gives stiffer frame and less material required. Is the performance difference really evident in real life? Or is it only some weight saving at the end of the day? Are there western brands that still use bladders? If not how recently did the transition happen in the industry?

It's not as clear cut as say that it provides a x% benefit in stiffness, for eg.
But it's all of the above. In fact, EPS monocoque is better than EPS w 2 triangles bonded together.
In 2024, buying a chinese frame that's bladder moulded means you're buying an old frame, a frame several steps below velobuild, or a frame from a clown, basically. Will it ride well? it could, we've been riding bladder moulded frames for years. Is it a red flag in 2024? Yes.
I'm sure you can still find brands using bladders (rules have exceptions), but we're talking chinese frames without the benefit of the western logo on it and the peace of mind of LBS support. And on this thread especially, we're talking fakes at leading edge weights, and the average westerner is many, many kilos heavier than the average chinese; structural integrity does matter.
If it's EPS, the chances that your frame is clown made shit is lower. As far as i'm concerned, it's a probability game, and the weights (in the equation) vary over time.

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion Thank you guys for your suggestions. Why I didn't want to list pricing here when I created this thread there are quite a few some other Chinese companies posting and viewing every day here on this public forum. And people are looking for different options.

I modified my 1st post with price range just now. However we don't sell anything on Aliexpress, we don't think it is worthy of time to explain quality or price difference between our products and theirs, for example, many guys mistake our company for CSC(Carbon Speed Cycle), that causes we need to say full company name to others every time,  and some sellers on Aliexpress they are just resellers without bottom line and they don't keep their words to offer after-sale service but they would decrease their pricing again and again to sell items. I am not saying all sellers or stuff on Aliexpress are not good, just saying that we don't want to sell products there. As manufacturer we attend to the bicycle fair like Interbike or Eurobike show so we got numbers of OEM clients to cooperate with, some of them are name brands. Our pricing varies depending on many factors and is constantly evolving, but QUALITY and SERVICE are the most important as always , old members here know our company very well, and we offer wheelsets at almost price points. We can provide an indicative quote very quickly via WhatsApp or email, so please don't hesitate to get in touch. Thank you guys.

Re: Elite wheels black friday
Bro stop shilling your blog everywhere. Your tests sucks and you are basically only one on the whole internet who thinks edges are soft. Maybe get a better bike and some good tires for your tests

Easy now kubackje. Peters articles opened the idea of Chinese bikes to me, with his build reports I read years ago. Dont insult, but let Peter know who he could improve his test. I doubt you have read “the whole internet” to know that he is the only one with that opinion, so be more kind!

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion My wheelset finally arrived. Peter asked me to post a review which I'll gladly do! The wheelset uses D50CU-28 rims with the in-house hubs and CX ray style spokes. As a specialty I ordered the variant without nipple holes. This makes for a painless and more reliable tubeless setup for just a little bit extra cost. Wheelset came in slightly lighter than expected at around 1330 g. So far I've put on GP5000 S TR tires which was indeed painless to do, it worked much better than on my older rims for some reason. No tricks needed, just put on the tires, a bit of pumping, done. I'm still waiting for other parts for my bike build, so I haven't used them yet, but from what I can see, everything is solid and they run perfectly true, too. Freehub sound at first seemed extremely loud, but with tire and cassette installed, it now sounds a bit muffled and much better.

Edit: by the way, I also ordered a spare freehub (because I've always had bad luck with freehub bodies for some reason). This was very reasonably priced, I think at 25 USD.

Edit2: now I see D50CU-28 is now available in T1100 too! Damn those rims are light! Maybe I should have waited a bit lol! I'm still satisfied since my wheelset is really good value for money though, got the basic T800 variant of the rims. The T1100 rims are probably quite a bit more expensive.

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion Hello everyone,
First of all many thanks for all your efforts on the forum, it's great and helps me a lot - keep up the good work.

Based on your experiences and reports I have ordered a wheelset (and handlebar) from Peter. And I can and will pass on your opinion - it was a great experience and the products are really very, very high quality products. Peter helped me a lot, even when my questions were annoying, he always answered immediately and helped me - thank you!

For the wheels I ordered the new D50CU-33 T1100 rims with carbon spokes and Peter's in-house hubs. Weight 1,225 gr. The plan is to use 30mm tyres. When I have fitted them I can give an update on the actual width of the tyres if you are interested.

I am also happy with the integrated handlebars, I just have to look for suitable spacers.
