@mirphak

Any thoughts about those six spoke wheels from Elite? Apparently they are making a road version and I "may" be able to test out a set.

They look like they would be super stiff, but maybe they are better at soaking up bumps and vibrations?

I'm interested. While I don't love the fork, it's nice to finally see some new designs. The SL7 one-bike-to-rule trend is slowly fading and people want aero again. Would make for some interesting YouTube content if they can figure out their western world distribution.

-Stiff
-Comfortable
-Affordable

Pick two, but you can't have all three

Looks similar but not identical to the Storck Aerfast 4

After speaking with Leon earlier this week (great guy) I learned that...

-Carbon spoke wheels equipped with ceramic bearing are not available with ratchet system hubs. Basically the same specs as an Elite Drive wheel. Carbon spokes, ceramic bearings, 4 or 5 pawl hub design.

-Ratchet hubs are however available with steel spokes and steel bearings.

If you are looking for an alternative to Elite Drive wheels with the same specs for a better price, Leon is a great option. For myself, I'm still looking for a 60/65mm deep wheel with carbon or steel spokes, 23mm internal, ceramic bearings, and 36t ratchet hub.

Some points to consider...

-My Winspace T1500 (BB86) is currently using a Kogel Bearings DUB ceramic bottom bracket. Over 4300 miles and still problem free. Still spins freely with no creaking.
-My VeloBuild CX frame (BB86) also with a SRAM DUB bottom bracket. Problem free. Although the cheap SRAM branded DUB BBs are known to be crappy.
-My Yishun R086-D frame (BB86) with a CYBREI DUB ceramic bottom bracket from Panda Podium. 1000 miles and no issues. I don't expect problems to arise.

In principle what Hambini says is correct. However in my real world usage I have never had a problem running DUB BBs with BB86 shells. And the best spider-based power meters come from SRAM/Quarg which use the DUB standard. So I refuse to compromise my power meters or be limited to Shimano cranks based the potential for BB failure. That just hasn't happened to me. Keep in mind Hambini and I are buddies in the same YouTube space. Quality BBs should run just fine for thousands of miles.

Now about the headset play issue. In addition to using a micro shim, I also filed/sanded down the bottom of the plastic headset cover. The part that's rubbing on the headtube. Only took about 10 minutes os sanding. I just assumed it was an isolated issue with my particular frame. No more headset play. The time it would have taken me to email my problem to Yishun and wait for an official answer, I figured it out on my own. Honestly I've never contacted any of these brands with my issues. It's more fun to troubleshoot myself and it adds to my bike building experience. It's a cheap frame after all.

How is the stiffness of this frame, have you done the test of trying to join the fork and rear chainstays with your hands? That's my biggest concern with these framesets

You have now asked this question in multiple threads. Almost verbatim each time. What are you looking to accomplish by asking this?

This is probably anecdotal but...

The best quality affordable Chinese frames I've tested (stiffness, fit and finish, tolerances) have come frame companies/factories who do NOT offer up custom paint jobs and decals. Basically the OEM factories.

However, brands/agents who offer up all these crazy paint options and put a priority on aesthetics are probably hiding something in the QC department. Just spend 5 minutes the IG accounts from TanTan, Hygge, and even Elves.

I would rather a factory tell me they don't offer paint jobs because their focus is on the production and QC of their frames and components themselves.

Are you interested in reviewing a new entry level Chinese carbon frame?

DM me.

Unless you were not talking to me  :(

Visually I hate that style of saddle rail clamp. But it does make it easier to adjust fore and aft without interfering with saddle height and angle.

Coincidentally, I had this brand's advertisement pop up on my Instagram feed earlier today. Never heard of them. $7000 USD for a 105 Di2 equipped bike. Does this frame not look like some sort of Yishun/LC variant?

https://alcavibikes.com/collections/bikes/products/alcavi-v1-shimano-105

What annoys about micro-brands like this one (besides a bike costing more than a similar spec Tarmac SL8) is their marketing videos want you believe they actually spent 5 years developing a frame. Rather than simply going to an OEM factory from China to purchase a licensed frame. I really hope I'm wrong about this.

Questions

1 - Is the LCR017-D available in all sizes yet, or just 54?
2 - LC (not Yishun) offer paint options correct?
3 - The lightweight version is not available for single orders?

This would be my selections if I was confident they are still fulfilling orders. I've always had great experiences with Wiggle and their Prime products.

Yishun sent me wheels with 23mm internals, 36t ratchet, enduro bearings, but they dont offer carbon spokes or anything 60mm deep unless 21 internal.

Magene's DB508 Ultra wheels (50 front/58 rear) with 23mm internals, carbon spokes, ceramic bearings, and ratchet hub. Probably my favorite wheels right now ($1200) but they don't have any plans to offer this setup in a 60mm+ rim.
