That Front end looks like a 3D print or some resin cast. The white inside the BB gives it away.

The rear end might be carbon. Maybe still in development?

My gut feel is Santacruz will shut this down very quickly.

They have no means to shut it down. Vpp patent is over. You can't patent Geo so what exactly will they go after them for?

Design registrations perhaps. I guess the Chinese feels nothing. But Since I'm in the market for something with more updated Geo and slightly more travel than my ICAN P8, I don't give a hoot either. They must just hurry up!
Will also be nice if they confirm geo numbers. Slightly alarming that they get it so wrong, but probably more a case of lost in translation.

Im a big fan of VPP bikes, so I'll wait for this.

@ Sclyde2  @ConcreteJ (Nice bike)

I think the obvious choice would be the P9, yes since its well proven by now.
Its still early days and I'm only really considering the going 150mm it. My P8 is really pretty good. At 130mm and a 120-150mm Pike DPA, its really versitile. The seat angle is the worst thing really as I lave quite a bit of seatpost extension which puts me way back over the rear axel. Apart from that, its only on the Gnarly stuff at high speeds I think the added stability and confidence inspired from the proper Enduro Geometry would really be better. And I'd like to race a full season of Enduro next year so thats why I'm contemplating it.

Also Just wanted to see if there were anything new out there.

I got it straight from ICAN and had someone bring it in for me.

I see the BXT 150mm frames are not baly priced. Before I logged into Alibaba it showed this price:

Full Suspension Bike Frame 29er BSA Carbon Fiber All Mountain Bike Frame 142*12mm 150mm Travel Bicycle Frameset 148*12mm
Price:
US$1 000,00-US$1 075,00 /Piece
You have selected 0 Piece

Once logged in, It says
Full Suspension Bike Frame 29er BSA Carbon Fiber All Mountain Bike Frame 142*12mm 150mm Travel Bicycle Frameset 148*12mm
US$600,00 - US$645,00 / Piece

So thats not actually bad at all.

Thanks for that. I sincerely hope I never have to deal with a warranted of a Chinese Carbon product, but If one buys enough I guess its inevitable. If I think of the guys around me, 2 on Scott and one on Giant, they have all had frames replaced.
I have been on a ICAN P8 for 12 months now. I have only done about 1000km on it, but those have been 80% technical singletrack. I have had it at bikeparks jump trails and just did our local National Champs Enduro race on it which had some pretty gnarly stuff on it. It has been perfect.

Hence me looking at upping my travel slightly, for Enduro racing, But the seat angles on some of the ICAN bikes are slightly slack.. just want to make sure this will be better. Technically I can swap my parts across. Price is 300$ more than I paid for my P8 though.

Great post. Thanks for sharing.

If you dont mind I'd like to share my experience with my P8.
I got my P8 last year March, and I've only recently got it dialled.. But almost a year down the line I am very glad I took the plunge(my first chiner frame)

I first rode the bike as a slightly more heavy duty 29'' XC bike with a 2012 Revelation fork set to 120, and a RP23 Rear shock(firm tune) and lightweight wheels.
The ride was quite harsh (previously rode an Alu bike) but probably also due to the firm rear. However the geometry was a lot more confidence inspiring and I quickly started dining up my rear rim. In the trail mode the bike was still plenty fast enough to ride up hills fast.

I currently have a Fox Float DPS EVOL (200x58mm), with low compression tune, which is mega plush and ground hugging. It matches my Formula 35 fork set to 140mm perfectly, as you'll go far to find a smoother and supple fork. I'm running 2.35's on 30mm ID rims and I'm now very happy. Not sure of the overall weight but probably around 13kg. Its my do it all bike at the moment although I dont do much long distance stuff currently.

With the 140mm fork the HA' sits bang on 67DEG
Seat angle is way slack, and I've had to slide my saddle forward all the way. Thats probably my only real issue with this bike. Climbing is only done in the middle setting on my rearshock) In full open the extra sag going up hill makes the bars even higher and the front hard to control going up steep pitches.
My Water bottle rivets has also came loose, and I'll eventually replace them. After a shuttle day at a local bike park where I cased many - many jumps and landed pretty harshly on a road gap (I did 7 runs) the rear got a creak which had me wondering, but I figured It was time for a grease since I've given the pivots no TLC since I built it, and Its now silent.

So all in all I couldn't be happier. I got a Light and capable frame with geometry that is up to date enough for me, and I paid less than what a new Fork would have cost me.

Thanks for the reply. What size tyres are you running now?

I assume you have the frame with the original geometry that had the 48mm BB drop, not the newer one with 24mm drop?  I really like the frame and the only thing holding me back is the low bb height, I'm trying to work out if the newer version is actually a different front triangle or just a trick on numbers by increasing the drawn axle to crown from 531.9 mm to  551mm.

As I have it, Its a new rear triangle, not front. I have communication from Melody who initially offered only the updated seatstay and rocker link as an upgrade. They don't do that anymore unfortunately. However, I cant see the BB height increasing and the seat tube getting steeper without the HT getting steeper. The slack seat tube is probably my biggest issue. I've slid my saddle right the way forward after getting a straight mount dropper post(setback didn't help) and it feels pretty good right now, however I couldn't tell if it could be even better with a 70 deg seat angle.

I am quite happy with my P8 now. I have been running 2.3'' 29 er tires and admit the BB height is low. I live in a very rocky area and Its a bit irritating at times, however, not something that cant be avoided.

On the Downhills, the low BB height gives the bike a "planted" feeling. I had mine at a  bikepark recently and after some serious cases om big jumps Its developed a creak(It was also an extremely hot day). My first thoughts were oops, something went, but its been 2 months and after inspection I'm most certain its just in need of a grease. I'm looking for a used RS Pike Dual position since I would like to still do longer days in the saddle, but this bike (with 135 mm at the rear) begs for 140-150mm front travel on downhills. So the Pike DPA 120-150mm wil be perfect. I'm currently running a 130mm RS Revelation and its definitely holding the bike back when it comes to downright nasty steep stuff.

If you look at the photo comparisons ..

But its speculating, cant be sure.

Sorry for the clumsy geo figures but what I had Is the below.
So It does seem there are slight changes like reach, stack etc..slight tweaks
As far as the clearance goes, Im not sure. What tires are you looking to run? It looks like the pic on the Ican website is updated as well? It looks like it has  a curve in the seatstay just before the rocker pivot, similar to the P9 and Barghest bikes. if you look at the similarities in the pics I attached. However one cant be sure, Its a bit frustrating not being able to get proper answers from them.

I am speaking to them directly and bought direct from them. What bike are you coming off? Personally, I was looking for a one bike quiver kind of setup and I'm really happy. Like I said, one or two things could have changed, slightly, but its working fine for me and I'm already able to rip down trails that I could never have dreamt of previously (110mm bike) while staying reasonably happy with the long ride performance, although a second wheelset would sort that out.

There's another thread on the P8 that you might have seen, about 4 of us uploaded our experiences building, but don't hesitate to ask. (some pics from that thread)

ICAN P8
travel F                  120

That is interesting.

I have a P8 MK I which I enjoy. If I had to complain about something, the slack seat angle and yes maybe the rockstrikes.  I live in a very rocky area and I do get quite a lot of rock strikes, however I'm not always sure if 20mm would have made the difference... only way to know is to compare against another bike. The lower centre of gravity might do more good than bad. The Width of the Plus size seat stays are just massive, and might be reason alone to get the now version since they toned it down a bit (it actually touched on my buddy's calves, luckily I hardly have any so I'm ok. .

After reading the review of the Heller bikes "Bargheist" (http://reviews.mtbr.com/heller-barghest-plus-bike-review )I asked Melody at ICAN if it was a P9 seatstay and Rocker link they were using and If its available seperately.

She answered as follows:

For the frame P8 ,we will have a new version ,a little change for the seat stay and the triangle ,and the bottom bracket will be higher from the ground
Later will send you geometric chart

Seat stay ,triangle link and screws ,US$120/set
Will be ready in early Sep if book now

However, She now tells me its not available separately anymore.

Nice Idea, but I that lasting a whole 5km before ripping apart. And will probably make funny noises, be heavy and perform terribly.

Regarding the seat angle:
It would seem the Effective seat angle is slightly flawed because the longer/higher the seat post the slacker the effective seat angle becomes. It is correct for a sweet spot but I'm perhaps at the upper limit on a Large.

Regarding the wheel spacing. I wouldn't do it if it would damage anything. I will upgrade my wheelset eventually and have had some spacers made. Like I said 3mm per side / make that 2mm per side. (my frame was closer to 146mm spacing anyway) I had some spacers turned in the workshop here at work but I need the disc spacer.

I have done 3 rides since and I'm really enjoying the bike. Its a pity I don't have a dropper post at the moment since it definitely gives one an edge in hairy situations. The 120mm feels plenty right now and I'm starting to wonder what the 135mm is going to feel like once I get my shock next week. Will be nice to do a comparison though. The EVOL airspring should allow me to sit higher in the travel anyway which is what I'd like.
I think a remote for the rear shock will be a nice upgrade since I'm only really using the full open mode for downhills at the moment. Its just to active to use when not necessary, especially when at the flick of a switch it can feel like my Rocky Mountain element did. This is nice though and a perfect compromise if it can be controlled through a remote. Bending down to flip the lever on the shock is going to get tired pretty quickly.

One last thing. is it just me or do the cables inside the downtube rattle like hell? I'm considering shoving some foam in there to quiet things down.
